@@LMCSM thats why we stopped going, used to go as a child. But even in 1996 my parents wored out it was cheeper for us as a family of 3 to go to spain. I did visit again around 2000 becasue I don't like flying and was old enough for my parents to listen to me that I wasnt going on a plane. But it just wasnt the same. I felt like I was too old for the place then.
Back in 2000ish a group of mental 40 ish olds went to bognor for a rock weekend. The accomodation was great, we had a fantastic weekend and I lost my voice. Brilliant
I stayed at Butlins Bognor Regis all my childhood (I'm 34 now ) and all the way up to 2012. I stayed in the old chalets there everytime. Loved the accommodation the entertainment was amazing food choice was great, arcades, cinema, funfair, swimming pool the staff were fantastic. . I used to go there before the skyline pavilion was built. I think I went From 1992 onwards. Every year this was always my no.1 choice for a holiday. . It's definitely the ideal British holiday resort.
Butlins was my childhood holiday I used to go in spring and summer I'm gonna miss staying over there...might go back if adults are allowed to go without a kid because It brings back good old times
Butlins Bognor Regis - Went here twice with my middle school in '88 and '89 and had some great times. Brings back some brilliant memories. So, so different now, but the core of the place still remains; only more up-to-date.
I took my children to Bognor Butins in the late 90s. Just before Christmas, the weather had been truly awful, so the swimming pool was not open, had been flooded by sea water! The voachers we were given as compensation were actually 4x what I had paid for the holiday!
This is by far, my favourite Butlins, went to Skegness, weren't that impressed, Mine head, weren't that impressed, Bognor Regis, absolutely impressed! Last time i went there i was in the ocean hotel on the 2nd Floor. It was amazing! recommended 10/10!
I went here in 2014 (age 10) and 2018 (14). Really enjoyed it both times. The entertainment was brilliant, spent most of my time in the arcades or at the old water park, lol. My Mum used to stay here in the 70s, I've seen the pictures and it doesn't even look like the same place.
Worked there 1974/1975 met my wife there she also was a staff member.46 years later were still married.loved it met and worked with some really smashing people.would have loved to have stayed and built a life in bognor but even then property was expensive .thanks for the tour Tim
Looks good, nice to see they've made a real effort to make it modern. Always went to Butlins when I was a kid, my Mum and Dad were real Butlins stalwarts. I never complained and always had a great time ❤
I went in May this year for my ?? Birthday and I had a fantastic time. I couldn't fault anything. The Gold apartment was clean and had everything we needed, every single member of staff were polite and friendly, and the whole site was well maintained. I spent many summer holidays here with my parents in the 80s, then took my children in the 90s and 00s. I have stayed in the Wave and Ocean hotels which are so modern, the decor is fab and the lifts have coloured lights and play disco music! I have never had one bad experience here. Loved your video and the only thing stopping me booking again is the price - in the summer holidays you're looking at £1000 to stay before food and spending money 😮
The wave hotel Apartments are the best for me, comes with a sea view and massive balcony. You also get a kitchen, Fridge etc if you wanted to cook your own meals.
I really like Butlins Bognor it is my favourite out of the 3 . I just hope when the new owners come in whoever they might be they continue the good work
It looks quite attractive, well maintained! The lawns are well manicured.Quite colourful, fun signage on the rides. Not being in the UK I have never seen a holiday camp but I know of their past glories!❤🇨🇦
I loved Butlins Bognor, I have been several times in the past, the chalets are clean, comfortable, I even stayed in a Hotel over 10 years ago, but I much prefer the chalets as they are way better, there is so much to do with entertainment especially of a night time! 😊
I echo other commenters on here when I say it is on another level to the sad, run down, Pontins resorts you have visited. As a kid my parents took me to Filey and Pwllheli and I have fond memories of both. However, the last of those visits was in 1983 so this has been a useful video for me as I had no idea what comprised a Butlins resort these days.
Brings back memories Tim, I worked security at Bognor Regis Butlins for 3 years! The accomodation for the staff (original 1960's chalet blocks) were demolished to build the new Splash waterworld. Thank you for the tour!
I worked here at the very end of the 1980's. Didn't recognise much but great to see the place looking so good. I was at Pwllheli before that and Warners (later Haven) on the Isle of Wight afterwards, all great places to work and loved them all.
I used to work in the hairdressing salon in the nineties, it was a private salon the lady closed the salon up with out the staff knowing, so we all lost our jobs and our months wages 😪🧐
Hey Steve. I worked Security there as well back in 1989/90. Few names I remember Graham Noble, Pete Flyn, Mark Lawrence, Carl Ludlam, Ian Spencer. You there at that time?
It's changed a heck of a lot since I was last there on holiday in 2002. They had no hotels on it then but the foundations were being put in for one across the car park from where we were staying. I loved seeing the place again via your video.
Yay! Butlins Bognor. I'm off there on Friday for a girls weekend. Excellent music venue. We love the chalets, such a great vibe with the other people staying there. We normally try and go at least once a year.
Hi Tim went to butlins in the 1960 years with mum and dad at bognor all changed now, You dont go hungry there plenty of places to eat, The chalets looked nice,
I came here for Christmas a couple of years ago…….BEST CHRISTMAS I HAVE EVER HAD WITH MY CHILDREN…ONLY THING, A BIT PRICEY !!!!🙏🏻🥰 Thank you Tim your a legend!!!🙏🏻🥰❤️🤍💙❤️🤍💙❤️🤍💙❤️🤍💙
Hi Tim .. thanks for another great walk. Resting after cooking and that made for a nice distraction from all the dishes I needed to wash today. Lol.😂 Back to work for me. Thanks again. Have a wonderful week you and Gaby. ☀️
Certainly changed since I've been there spent many happy holidays with my family as a child, we went several times as a group consisting of 3 families, this was in the mid to late 70's so you only had a bedroom, had shower blocks and a shared dining room which everyone dined in. I loved the roller rink, it only had an outdoor pool, but absolutely had an amazing time. As kids we spent all day playing on our own or at the groups it was so safe
The last time I went here was in the late 90s. I even got my haircut at the hairdressers there - really good value! If it was good then, well it's even better now! How lovely to see!
I have been going to Butlin’s at Bognor Regis since 1997.I go with my family. We went twice a year.I go three times a year now, because I love the Music Weekends. You cannot beat the Music Weekends.2022,will be my 25th Anniversary Year in going to Butlin’s at Bognor Regis. I am looking forward to my 40th Anniversary.
@@WalkWithMeTim I must be a Living Legend at Butlin’s in Bognor Regis.Over the years,I have got to know many Staff. It is a GREAT PLACE for Entertainment,Etc.
Went with the family last summer during the heatwave, hotel room had large balcony overlooking the sea 🌊. Fantastic break loved every minute. I travel to many holiday hotspots in posh hotels in Spain, Greece, Italy etc and still enjoy a good old fashion knees up in blighty just like when I was a kid. This is a good butlins, so is Skeg if the weather is right.
I’m in Canada , how about taking a trip over here for our version of Butlins …basically camping out in the woods in tents or wooden huts , a real back to nature experience .
My what a change from last time I went there. The last time I went there they had just put in the pavilion it was just a food court then. The one building that I will always remember was that had the disco / live band that everyone would go to at the end of the day. It had the arcade, dance floor, Bar and food. I might have to go down there and check it out some day.
We went in the hotels 2 years running’s with grandchildren , ocean really nice and clean big room with views and balcony , had meals too included good choice , really enjoyed the 4 days
Overall, it looks like there is something for the whole family. The staff were taking pride in cleaning the community areas. I wonder what the original Mr Butlin would think of this modern creation? For me it looks like a 9/10. With the trouble in travelling this business should be well placed to grow.
Lady Butlin did go there a few years back and was quoted as saying that she thought Billy would have loved it and been very pleased as to how it is today .
I went here in 2019 great waterpark great nighttime entertanment and loads of other great thing to and it was a great choice to stay for a few days until we left and went to thorpe park
I’ve been here every year since 2016 (because of covid I didn’t go 2020 or 21) and honestly it’s great, fun for the whole family. I do miss the old splash waterworks though.
the older splash was the one with the bigger tower for the slides next to it right? or am i thinking of the wrong place? either way, its a really nice place (the whole park i mean)
I have stayed here twice , once apartment and once ocean hotel, it was okay , didn't like bognor town much though, have recently been to Minehead which we love, good video x
I was at Butlins Minehead last weekend for a Ibiza legends weekender with my mates stayed in the really old style one storie chalet with bedrooms and bathroom there tidy modern inside hi de hi style had great weekend the beer is expensive there tho a bit cheaper down the town better choice in real glass rather than plastic glasses I've been the bognor Butlins twice in January one year there was snow on the beach and it was freezing all weekend hopefully going the skeggy next year only one I've not been to Minehead is the best location for Butlins in a lovely town unspoilt place
Lovely walk Tim, took me back years 😊 That blue New England look is great isn’t it 😊 Thanks again for the beautiful summer sunshine ☀️ Until the next time 👍🏻👍🏻
