Albanians are a very ancient nation. They have been fighting alongside Alexander the Great to India, who by the way was Albanian. Many Albanian stayed in those areas and never returned, but they never lost their identity, just as your grandfather has told you. Even in Ottoman times, Albanians were fighting from Egypt ( even creating a dynasty there, Imam Ali, an Albanian King), Palestine, Syria and Pakistan. There are so many people from these countries who claim their Albanian ethnicity nowadays. Nice to know you haven't lost your identity. Cheers from Albania!
