Otherwise she would sound exactly like this, but this is better. She likely improved her singing skill if she manages to not sound too nasal or high-pitched when she sings high notes or not.
If you watch Starship trainees audition for Products 48, you can see that at that time, Wonyoung still didn't use any high pitch childish voice. But after she had to perform Very Very Very IOI, everything's change. She had to use that high pitch voice.

이게 맞지ㅠㅠㅠ 제가 캐나다 시민권도 있고 평생을 외국에만 살았어서 영어 한국어 둘다 네이티브인데 확실히 영어 톤이 더 좋다고들 하시더라고요... 사실 최근에 한국 들어와서 학교도 다니다 보니 영어가 좀 부자연스러워지긴 했는데 (발음 말고 대화하는거, 예전처럼 바로바로 안 나오고 잠깐 버퍼링 걸릴때가 있어요ㅠ) 제가 듣기에도 영어 톤이 훨씬 맘에 듭니다... 한국어 할땐 어딘가 둥글둥글해서 듣기 싫은데 영어가 진짜 똑부러지더군요..... 자존감 많이 낮은 편인데 영어 만큼은 정말 자신 있습니당ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
