Butter chicken is one of the most popular menu items in Indian restaurants, enjoyed with chapati or rice. The butter chicken recipe is easy to do at home and am sharing a step by step video to show you how I do it at home.
Marinade for the chicken
1/2 c Plain yogurt
1 Tbs Ginger garlic paste
1 Tbs Garam masala
1 Tsp Cumin
1 Tsp Coriander
1 Tsp Turmeric
1 Tsp Chili powder
1/2 Tsp Paprika
1/2 Tsp Black pepper
1 Tsp Kosher salt
For the sauce
1 Tbs Vegetable oil
1 Tbs Butter
1 Large red onion peeled and thinly sliced
1 Tbs Ginger garlic paste
1 Tsp Cumin
1.5 Tsp Coriander
1 Tsp Garam masala
1 Tsp Chili powder
1/2 Tsp Paprika
1 Can Tomato puree or 4 very ripe tomatoes
1/4 c Cashews
1 tsp Sugar ( optional / if needed )
1/2 c Plain yogurt
1 Tbs Butter to finish
Pinch Dried fenugreek ( Kasuri Methi )
Salt and pepper to taste.
