I think the reason her love turned into a monster is because she believed it was unrequited. That is why when the girl kissed her on the cheek she said "that hurt". And her friends were excited because they think the brown haired girl like her. So the monster forms the girl saves her from her own emotions by being nice to her and sharing her burdens. Through learning about her the brown haired girl starts to fall in love. This is just what I think though.

you dont even need to know the characters identities to know this is sapphic love, and i LOVE it. i swear theres something in sapphic art that is like no other, you cant really describe it because just saying "its more emotional" doesn't clearly define how unique it is. love this animation damn much

i keep coming back to this video. i love it so much. to me, i feel like it's about having your love grow big and uncontrollable along with other feelings like anxiety, inadequacy, etc, and having your partner/lover/friend/whoever is by your side easily defeating what your mind made into a bigger problem than it actually is

first I was like "that soooo adorable" but then I'm like "this is incredible, beyond what I had expected"

i love the open ending at the end!!! and i like the idea that the monster probably formed from the abundance of hearts being stored away (or in a real world perspective, the unhealthy coping mechanism of hiding your feelings which is, in this case, was not acknowledging that there are feelings in the first place) and that in the end, it can be detrimental for all parties involved. also i just love the wlw relationship in general, it really gives me hope that one day, I'll find someone to fight a monster with :)

i have never been so moved by an animation before. the woman hiding the heart with her head at the end made me gasp. absolutely amazing. i cannot put into words how incredible this is on so so so many levels. this is pure, raw talent right here with both the storytelling and art. i hope you do amazing things my friend

Two years ago when I first watched this video I was madly in love with my best friend. It was... pretty bad. She was on my mind all day, and at night I'd have trouble sleeping, thinking about her. I felt as if my love for her was unrequited and I was absolutely terrified of all of the emotions that came with it. Years before, I confessed to my last best friend and it went horrible. Not only was she straight, but wasn't very nice about letting me down at all. It honestly tore me apart. Our friendship never recovered and I had a mental breakdown. I didn't want history to repeat itself so for a long time I kept it all to myself. We were the best of friends, closer than anything else, and I didn't want to ruin that. But my love for her grew and grew until it was practically bursting. All my friends told me to confess because at least if she said no I could be at peace. And eventually after getting a bit closer with her, I did. That was four days ago as of right now and, well, she said she felt the same. We're now absolutely enamored with each other. Like, you couldn't even tear us apart if you tried. I adore my girlfriend so much, so here's to the love of my life, Zoe

this is incredibly underrated. i love the animation and the storytelling behind it. my interpretation of this is hiding your feelings until you’re drowning in them. i love how you represented that with the visuals. great work! :)

holy crap this was amazing!! i don't usually leave comments on things like this and i'm sure you'll never see this but i need to say something omg. first of all, obviously the animation is stunning! i love all of the effects you use, and your art is gorgeous ofc, and that fight scene is something else, omgggg second, i AM OBSESSED with all of the reocurring metaphors and stuff. like with the hearts, the way that it is a physical manifestation of her feelings, and she reacts to the hearts as if they are in the real world. they have to move and actually hide them, which is so good. and the way the hearts keep getting more and more out of control as her feelings get stronger is so awesome. PLUS the way the other girl just has the one heart at the end that she also has to hide, but since it's the end it's much more resigned. just the way you did this is so interesting, hearts are a very common theme but i haven't really ever seen them used like this, it's very cool! next, the monster is brilliant!! it fits very well with the narrative, like it's the climax, i love that you had a plot to this even though it's so short! the way i see the monster is her own fears and insecurities and if that's the case, i love how the other girl fought the monster and made a physical change to show the first girl that she was serious about it. like the second girl was comitted to showing the first girl that she does actually care (even if the first girl thinks it's just platonically), and it showed not only through her fighting the monster but making a change to her appearance. and i already said this but i have to say it again, the animation of the fight is SO COOL!!!! finally, THE CHANGE IN STYLE DURING THE BRIDGE. holy crap that was awesome!! it was so unique, i was not expecting it at all. the music changed, so you changed the art style too, oml. i love the way it was more fractured and messy. my guess is that it is to show the way the girl's mind is more fractured, like she's confused about her feelings and doesn't know how to deal with it (which i assume is what led to the formation of the monster), and the change in style VISUALLY REPRESENTS THAT!!! that is COOL AF!! and the fact that it's multiple people who drew it (i think, based off the description) makes that even more potent, like not only is it fractured, it HAS to be that way. for her, it is impossible to convey her feelings, like it is in the art, it physically needs to change because it's different people drawing it. this animatic has so much skill and thought put into it, i admire you a lot!! and it's also sapphics, so of course i love it even more because of that. i will definitely check out more of your stuff and if you see this, good luck on all your future animations!

Not only does this match the song really well and in a lot of different ways, it's also drawn really really well, and so many of the shots are so smooth. Like, there is visibly a lot of effort, and it's super duper cool.

Holy shit, this is so good, me personally as someone who is basically aromatic I can't feel love but I feel like this represented romantic love perfectly regardless. I think this animation is very creative and well thought out throughouly, glad the RU-vid algorithm recommended me this.

Going frame-by-frame and seeing all the distinct styles at 1:47 is a wonderful thing to witness. It was a great idea to get people from your class to draw a frame each and y'all should be very proud of it.

This…THIS here is what deserves an Oscar above those other relatable RU-vidrs…THIS has a deep meaning behind it, makes you feel something without any words, can be interpreted in different ways, very poetic without any dialogue. The art style is so cute, the story inclusive, and really feels better than those shorts you find in Disney plus or whatever.

As a lesbian, I’ve literally never felt more represented. Especially now that I like someone I feel like I shouldn’t, this hits SOOO hard and it’s so overwhelming!! This is one of my all time favorite animations ever!

This seems like a cool variation of hanahaki decease! Instead of the flowers being something that you can hide, the hearts build up on people negating they love someone (or are trying to not get the other person to realize), causing a swelling buildup that if not treated, can end up killing the person by the smallest amount of love from the other person.

I dont really have the words to describe how i feel right now. I dont know if this was made specifically for someone, but it definitely sparks a type of innocent joy that i havent felt in a while. Thank you.

I love the detail that in the fight with the "monster" when it drowns what it consumes, it has heart-shaped remnants basically talking about it drowning in that feeling and also at the end of the fight it shows that the girl hurt the 'monster' by hurting it too the girl perhaps being implicit that she hurt the other's feelings, making her come out of that trance of passion, helping her to overcome the feeling (If there are any spelling mistakes it's because it's not my first language)

This had no right being such a masterpiece. When the screen went black I knew I was in for a treat (even though the whole thing was freaking amazing!)

this. was. AWESOME! it makes me think of the concept of hanahaki (not telling someone u love them and thus 'keeping the love inside' means the love manifests in flowers growing in your lungs. when you still don't let it out, the flowers grow so big and so much that over time it kills you - i think it's got something to do with the love being too much to handle. it's been warped a bit in some stories but apparently the original idea was that as long as you let it out, whether or not the person loved u back, u were healed bc the main problem was not that they didn't love u it was cos the love was inside and now it wasn't) i loved the music and the ending and just. argh. everything about this!!! it was humorous in the best ways (the multiple ways she tried to hide the hearts lmfao) and when she pushed her out the door i could feel the confusion and hurt of the other girl which never happens when i watch anything - i always hear about other people feeling all these emotions when viewing a scene in a movie or animatic or show or whatever and i never get any of that, i can never interpret anything outside of the dialogue like - facial expressions, lighting, all that stuff unless it's like REALLY obvious ahhh this is so lovely! i adore your art style too!
