You ALWAYS have the best hauls! So happy for you. I purchased over 300. NWT pieces of Johnny Was this past fall and I'm selling about 45 pieces a month and they're almost all gone. Im profiting between $40 to $100 per piece depending on what it is. It was a big risk for me but it definitely paid off!!! I love how you broke down your cost per hour at the end of the video. I learn so much from you! I know I haven't posted to tour videos for a while but I still watch and hit thumbs up!! 👍
Courtney, just a thought--you might mention that until the items sale you will tie up much more of your money sourcing at the buy & trade stores than the thrift stores. And that could be a problem for those on a budget.. I tried retail arbitrage because I wanted to sprinkle some of those name brands I couldn't find in my area around my closet, hoping to draw more followers. Didn't work for me! It took me over six months to sell two of the 6 items that I bought and I barely got back my money with a tiny bit of profit. The rest are still sitting in my closet. Buying thrift store items works better for me, as well. I usually try to make sure that at least one or two of my items will net enough profit to pay for my entire sourcing trip. That way I don't tie up my money and I am guaranteed to get some profit as items sell.
If your local BST store(s) have IG or FB accounts, follow them. They'll always advertise sales and events. Mine have bag sales 2-3 times a year and let you stuff a bag of a certain size FULL for $30-35. My COG always breaks down to .90-$1.50 ea. Last sale I found NWT DVF and Vince, as well as Birkenstocks. One pair of Birkenstocks paid for my entire trip!
Love the camping comparisons. We've been RVers for 11 years so that totally made sense to me. We're Glampers camping. Still trying to work out my reselling style.
I enjoyed this video, your comparison of thrifting styles/routines to camping/glamping was great! I too enjoy the hunt and decision making process for what I want to sell. To buy a pallet or reseller box (I did once during covid, & was completely disappointed) just isn't my style. I love thrifting & learning along the way about brands & styles ... & learning about brands from videos like yours ... 💗🙂 I'm in 🇨🇦 so brands & sales stats may differ, but always interested in this business ‼️
Saw You with Tommy & Traci. Decided to check out and sub both channels. I am also a youtuber but a smaller channel. Transparent 100% Ebay. Love it if You dropped by.
I loved this. Also I so relate to that camping analogy! I'm a roughing it kind of girl which totally explains my excitement about the bins and why I don't get to the BST as much! Great finds at both! I'm always looking for Xirena so that jumpsuit was fun to see.
super helpful!! sold exclusively on poshmark for a while, then dipped into depop seeing how popular it is with less brand name stuff and just sold my first thing on ebay. I need to try ebay out a bit more
Yes, absolutely incorporate all options for reasons you mentioned. Besides, sometimes by/sell stores have great sales or higher-end items. I would rather pay $20 and sell it for $100 vs paying $3 and selling for $20 (on average). The work involved is the same. I always look at return on investment.
Hi Courtney, very interesting I never heard of BST store, I’m assuming that it is a version of consignment where they buy your trade in items against what you would like to purchase. Is that a simplified way of looking at it? Cheers, Pat
Consignment stores will pay you when your item sells. Buy, Sell Trade (Crossroads, Wasteland, etc) will pay you for your items immediately and you usually get a little more if it's for store credit (trade) instead of just cash.
The free people coat lining is actually cleanable without dry cleaning. Fold the soiled fabric over where you can put a cloth under it so cleaner won't soak through. Then put FOLEX on a microfiber cloth and gently dab spot and work the area. I've don't it and it works like a charm! Do not over saturate area. 😊
Great video. Buy sell trades are great when you sell to them your trendy lower priced items and use your trade amount to source designer higher price items.
Maybe it's a regional thing, but I've never heard of Buy-Sell-Trade stores before. Is that another name for a consignment store, like Buffalo Exchange?

Hmm, now I definitely think it's a regional thing. Where I am, some consignment shops pay upfront and buy your stuff, while others pay when the item sells - but both types call themselves consignment stores. We just don't hear or see the term "Buy Sell Trade stores" at all here.
I loved the breakdown! I’ve never seriously looked for items to resell when I’ve been at BST because the prices have been so much higher than what I normally pay. I might try it out sometime now!
Always enjoy your content and I'm always jealous of the brands you find. You picked up some nice items at your BST store. I'm a believer in multiple sourcing sources and adding BST to your arsenal is good. Just an idea - Maybe for your next few trips spend an hour at different BST stores and get a feel for what they have that fits in your business model. You may find that none of them are worth your time but you may also find pockets that make it worth a quick drop-in when you're in the area to source that specific niche. I don't have much in the way of BST selection but I have some thrifts that I know that it's not worth my time to go through the racks but they tend to not mark up shoes in the same manner other stores do (I'm looking at you SA who wanted $69 for NAOT sandals). I'll drop by if I'm in the area, look only at the shoes and I'm out in 20 minutes.
The one good thing about my Province's third lockdown is that many BST are doing delivery. Online thrifting is now my new favourite past time :). Thanks for breaking it all down. Nice to see the differences. I'm definitely a glamper ;-)
Thrift stores will always hold the highest spot in our mind, but BST stores are just fun sometimes and helps break the norm. Great hauls! Those Johnny Was pieces were beautiful!
The thrift store is always more fun for me but bst stores can have some nice pieces! OMG that Equipment leather dress 😍 ... My favorite from the thrift store haul is definitely that Motif bag!
Love the comparison - here in Ventura we don't have a lot of BST choices but tons of thrifts (that act like BST's with their prices lol). But still no complaints. I still prefer the bins overall - 5 miles away from me. Enables though a lower ASP and faster flip which I like the energy of :-)
I was about to say that! That most likely will come out pretty easily with a mild gentle stain remover and water. Typically I find a lot of dry clean only items at the thrift with stains and I can tell the person was either too afraid (or like me and too lazy for dry cleaning lol) to try cleaning it but you can often wash with gentle detergents dry clean only items just don’t dry them. Obviously materials like silk or wool not so much but that Sherpa jacket could be washed and hung dry. My background and degree is in fashion design & merchandising and I loved textiles so I always dove deep in that category and it came in handy when I started reselling and cleaning items lol that jacket is so cute
@@klbs9630 Funny, I have an undergraduate degree in apparel merchandising. I used to also sew professionally while in college. Many "dry clean" only items are washable, but are labeled such out of an abundance of care.
I totally agree I live in NYC and I do both but at the buy sell trade store like Buffalo Exchange and Cross Roads I will only pick up items I know I can flip for 80 and up depending on price of item I love your content and happy to know you won’t do pallets I never watch those videos and I live for yours, I also enjoy the thrill of the hunt ♥️
I’ve had great luck at Clothes Mentor when hitting up their 70-80% off end of season sales! Less so at Plato’s, because the value to resell isn’t always there.
@@windycityresell960 dang, that’s awesome!! I’ve only seen 80% max at mine, but I spend a good 3 hours or so and bring my IKEA bags 😆 I’ve thought about hitting up two stores on the same day, but I don’t know if my brain could take all that sorting lol.
Also, find out when they start their tag sale and focus on buying the 1/2 price items if you don’t have items to sell them. Buffallo Exchange has sales monthly.
I like to sell stale , not selling clothes at buy sell trade stores ! I miss them close to me , closest one is 45 mins away :( love this lifestyle, wrk and life balance is key , more time off the better . Less stress is great 😊
