Wonderful content Azaf. I'm new to finance/trading world and eager to understand but side n sell side difference. One of the best videos. First time when I heard I understood 5%. Today hearing it again after couple of months I'm able to understand 40%. Looking forward to being able to understand all the jargon words used. These words give a direction to search in google
Where would a private equity real estate firm fit into the buy side vs. sell side discussion? I'm talking about a firm that develops real estate funded by debt and equity investors, then pays out the parties a few years later after the project is complete and is sold to a REIT or other institution.
How accurate is wolf of wall street movie on investment banking. I mean at IB jobs do we really have drugs and strippers party ? Please answer I m seriously asking😐😐😐
My friend your videos are super and very helpful, however I got confused regarding the salaries comparison between IB & Asset Management. Do you mainly start off with higher salaries in IB and after 2-3 year (after your first promotion) the odds are higher in Asset Management ? Thanks, Tarek
Hey Afzal, did you go to John Lewis in Westfield like last week? Some guy asked me where the menswear stuff was and I could've sworn it was you who asked me, haha. Awesome video as always man!
Great content man! I discovered your channel last week and I think you bring a lot of value for people like me, that I am an university student. Next year I will finish a Human Resources degree (in Spain), and it will be awesome if you could thing about doing a video with tips for students of this area, like the salaries and opportunities to work in any of these big companies, such as investment banks or professional services like Deloitte and EY. I want to thank you so much for your videos, keep it up! Take care and a big hug from Spain.
Was offered a asset management fixed income analyst role in a regional asian bank versus a corporate finance role in a large international western bank. Which one has better exit opportunities and less risk to AI displacement
Sorry, point of correction Afzal, Compliance & Risk are not back office divisions, these are "functions" of the bank and can sit either in front office with the business or in middle office, but never back office.
Hey Afzal! I recently found your channel and I love it, lotta helpful stuff on here. I’m in year 11 ahahah just doing some early looking. So then would you recommend remaining in the sell side for a few years in the IBD and then moving to the buy side, in order to gain a better work life balance and compensation?
Oh so sorry, didn’t watch the whole video! Fantastic...I’ll probably do that then ahaha....seems like an interesting and exciting job...What kind of role would we expect to get on the buy side after doing a few years in the IBD, with roughly what salary? Thanks
Is it possible for a fresh graduate student join the asset management firm and work for 2 or 3 years, then move to the other buy side companies such as a private equity or hedge fund firm?
@@AfzalHussein hey thanks for response Small questions I'm into investment banking profile (a data analyst) and a masters grad Does sql, vba and python will help in carrier progression Does it help or better do CFA for better future
Afzal this has to be my favourite video you've produced. As a person born in the 21st century i think it is likely I will not follow a linear career path but a cyclical path between industries. I think I know my first two career aspirations now. First sell side to harden me for a decade and then into the buy side, benefitting from both the sell side experience and from the capital earned which would hopefully be substantial enough so that percentage returns translate into real returns with a magnitude that couldn't be achieved with a low capital base. Thank you AH.
