We finally got a chance to test the Koni Sports / Yellows on a Tesla Model 3 and share with you our results and how they are adjusted. This is important information to know before purchasing these dampers. The adjustments might not be as easy as you'd hoped for. #knowledgeispower. They are definitely great dampers for the right type of individual who is ok with working on their own car. Links to the product are below.

Well this is unfortunate. Was considering a set, having ran them on my CS class Miata for autocross. Loved the adjustability that took all of 2-3 min for all 4 corners. Having to remove the shock itself for rear adjustment makes this a nonstarter set. Especially given the range of adjustment. On my Miata, full soft was amazing and comfortable, while full stiff was terrible on the street but amazing on course.

Perhaps at some point you could make a review of the red Koni Special Active? They share the same ( user hostile) adjustment but are advertised as also offering some sort of active damping, using the Frequency Selection Damping, or FSD. In search of better ride quality, I have already installed them on my 2023 Model Y. To my experience, in term of comfort on normal roads things changed slightly, but when I step on the German Highway the difference in terms of stability is significant! I now I can do 200 km/h easy, while before the car of course would still reach the speed easily, but it felt dangerous. Since I use the Model Y primarily for longer trips, I would prefer better comfort in exchange for some stability. I am considering putting the Konis on the 2021 Model 3 and fit the Model Y with something else at similar price. That is why I would very much like to hear your impression on Koni Special Active, vs say Tein Endura Pro Plu.

For M3 AWD, whats shocks combination provides the best ride and comfort on the rougher roads? Don't want to lower the vehicle as it hits the driveway, also makes it tough for parents to get in and out of. If possible, I would raise it by an inch, but that's not that critical. What do you recommend?

What spring do you recommend with these? Considering a set of these, prefer stock ride height but would be willing to go slightly lower. Also considering the tein endurapro rishie spec.

Thanks for these videos. I have a 23 Tesla Y I installed Tein's on front and back. Settings front 12 back 8. pretty soft. Disappointed on surface roads.... The ride is slightly better. What is causing this bumpy ride and feeling every imperfection in the road? Springs? Tires? Shocks? I notice a big difference with TP at 38psi from 42psi. The tires are Pirelli Scorpion. The tires are noisy too. Help.... I love this car on the highway but surface roads it is just not good. Thanks

Well its possible you got your damper values backwards. Switch them around. Set the rear softer than the front and get back to me. Clockwise all the way is stiff = 0, then count backwards and make the rear softer than front. Your vendor should be providing guidance. If purchased from us you should have received that.

@@zevcentric thanks for the reply. We set them up off the vehicle in the office before they were installed so I think they are good. There was a lot of difference in the settings as we pushed on them. Is there a break in period for these? Do they get better over time? I have just 800 miles on these and the ride seems to be changing for the better??? Or is that just getting use to them? thanks again

Thank you. We notified youtube. Our exported file is good but something happened at their end. They are being difficult and not swapping it out. We will share a link where it freezes to another upload.

We already did before the yellows. The 4 vehicles we tested them on 3’s and Y’s they just weren’t as comfy as the Teins and at a higher cost.

This is a huge bummer! Makes them basically unsuable for competition. Are there any alternatives for the rears that allow easier adjustment? Looking for something for SCCA street category.

We did test them on 3 different tesla chassis and didn’t find anything really beneficial of them with them being more expensive and least adjustable than the Teins. Sounds great on paper but in practice we didnt like them as much.

we tested them on 3 different vehicles per customer request and all 3 of them were not satisfied. When compared to the Tein damper the Konis were not as comfy and the fact that it cannot be adjusted to suit the customer's needs was a drawback.

@@zevcentric I just swapped my Tein Endura pro with Koni special active. Koni's are not as Soft as Tein (Tein at setting 9) but way better in dampening. The head wobble is greatly reduced which is the main drawback of Tien and MPP with softer setting.

@@atmajpatel I think that was the issue with a lot of people is that they wanted comfort and the Konis didn't provide that. With the Teins we could set them softer and add an anti sway bar. This helped to balance the equation. The Konis definitely handled nicely but didn't provide the comfort our clientele desired in the Y.
