The dreaded "Buyer's Remorse"! There are few things worse than buying a used vehicle only to find out you got dooped! A few years back I picked up a 2013 Harley Davidson Road Glide. I was very excited about the new bike until waking up the next morning and getting a closer look in the day light. Stay tuned to see what mistakes I made and how you can avoid making the same!

If I'm buying a used bike I'm assuming it's been dropped at some point. I ride all the time with guys who ride all the time. Gravel, rain, grass, car pulling out and having to stop while in a turn, stopping and gravel makes your foot slide out from under you, something is going to happen and you are going to drop your bike. If you have never dropped a bike you probably are not riding enough. Even the best riders have shit happen, and I'm talking guys who are riding side by side club style who ride great. Something will happen if you put miles on the bike.

"Never Look at a Bike at night" - This should be Rule numero uno! I purchased a used honda CB750 (the exact model that the Terminator rode in the first movie) at night and in the morning my excitement ripped out of me at the first glance at all the rust and corrosion damage. I definitely overpaid. It took me several weeks of tearing down the bike and rebuilding/ cleaning it of all rust and damage until I was happy with it. But I can say she was hands down one of my favorite motorcycles I ever owned. I learned a lot from the experience, how to buy a used bike, how to work on Hondas, etc. I sold it for more than I bought it, but still pretty much broke even considering the parts.

Well, it's not so much about your "Buyer's Remorse" it's more about your expectation of a huge profit on the flip and not wanting the guy you ground down to $11,650 to wake up and suddenly have a pang of "Seller's Remorse". You wanted to get the hell outta Dodge so, you missed the obvious. Only message your video delivers is "slow down, relax, do it right the first time!".

I’ve had the sellers remorse with a friend who was pestering me to sale a bike that I wasn’t really looking to sale at time and wanted it for himself. We went back and forth for a bit with him trying to convince me and at the end I agree to sale it to him for a much cheaper price then the book value. But to my surprise the guy really pissed me off when he immediately sold the bike for a lot more money then what I had sold it to him for! Near less to say that was the end of my trust for the guy and the friendship with him after I told him that he took advantage of my kindness!

I bought a 02 FLSTC in 2019 and I had buyers remorse not because it didn't run good but it had computer crap on it and something just didn't fit me right. I been mounted on Pans and Shovleheads until this 02..I picked up an 01 FLHRCI I liked better but I ended up selling both of them in September 2020 and bought a 98 FLSTF I can work on. it is a one owner bike and is like new with 27k on it. I paid $3.000.00 for it I have it and my 72 FLH and that will do it for me.I am an old dude 67 so I don't need more bikes but my bet is I buy another one in a year or so. I like badket cases I like to wrench as much as I like to ride. I got people hauling bike a 100 miles to have me work on these older bikes since I only charge for parts and what ever they think my work is worth. I am one of the few pan and Flathead garage mechanic around. I don't rebuild motors any more I don't have the tools to do it now no machinery. Harley's love um.

That "wholesale buyer" thing cracks me up. Shit, who doesn't want to buy at wholesale prices? This ain't a Harley factory though boss. There's no such thing as wholesale prices, on a used bike in someone's garage. When someone tells me they're a wholesale buyer, I just tell them I'm a retail seller. If you want wholesale prices, you have to buy at least 20 bikes at a time... 😂

That really sucks. If you have to look after dark always take a bright battery powered light to look things over. It's a good idea to use a portable light during the day also, to look at the darker areas of the engine and trans for oil/coolant leaks and rust. When I was young every used car I bought needed major work within 3 or 4 months after I got it. Never unhappy with any used bike purchase tough.

I would like to add- if its a Harley, get the VIN and have the service history run at a Harley dealer. I bought a 2012 Road Glide, identical to your 2013. It was great for a month. Then i ran across some issues. I checked the service history just to find out the bike had been rear-ended. Everything is straight and repaired. But the money i paid was for a bike in good condition, not with accident history. Definitely run the VIN if you can! That being said, this same bike took my fiancée and I to Myrtle Beach from south central KS and back, without a hiccup. So I'm still happy with it

I'm sorry but those issues were very minor. Yes you should have done a better inspection ,but the fender is about a five hour job to repair and the other two were about an hour a piece. If that caused you buyers remorse then you need to get way better at those inspections. Some minor paint and some buffing takes care of the pipe and bag. A little metal finishing and paint on the fender takes care of these issues. You got a good deal.

Every bike has been dropped. Just look to see if there is damage. Hard lessons, yes. It is a used bike though, and there will be some deficencies. Live and learn eh?

That fender is not "bent." HD touring front fenders are "flared" on the lower/rear edge, you just don't know your bikes very well.

Yeah, currently in possession of a chopper I'm going to lose money on... Should have listened to my gut and bought a different one. I misjudged the pricing and what the market was selling them for.

You got a good price because he knew about the blemishes. I would have made that deal with blemishes for that price.

You made money on it. Flipping.bikes is risky. The guy probably didn't want to pay the deductible and wanted to dump it and buy a new one.

How about a video on specific questions you'd ask when buying a motorcycle? Probably would help some people avoid a situation such as the one you found yourself in with this deal!

Yeah Jon so... "Buyers Remorse" I have always bought and sold vehicles. Earlier on in life I got a 1969 Camaro SS396. Well, within a week after this purchase I did a tranny service (had a small tree's worth of sawdust in the trans!) Then took it to a mechanic with a lift (frame had been cracked and spot welded!)... kept chewing up right front tires. Had it tuned up... it WAS a factory SS396 and still had a 396 in it... FROM a 1969 GMC TRUCK!!!!! Anyway, I'm 53 now, more savy about such things and uhh, yeah, bad experience. I was 19 at the time, pocket full of cash and only wanted to get it home... as well, it had just been painted Hugger Orange/White SS stripes (fell in love with the paint) was in his dimly lit garage AT NIGHT too.... went back a couple of weeks later to ask him about these thing(s)... FOR RENT sign in front yard, vacant. Vacant... just like my young bank account now was. 😳

purchased once non-running motorcycle from seller that assured me that its not running because of dirty carbs.... it was a very good deal so I decided to take a chance.... I figured only carb cleaning ... no big deal..... once I was able to start the bike white smoke started coming out of the exhaust... long story short..I ended up tearing the entire engine apart to find cracked piston.... took me several months to rebuild entire engine... I lost money on the bike but the experience first time rebuilding entire engine was priceless..... By the way... have you ever considered starting a used motorcycle dealership?

1 Massive remorse I bought a Slim test rode it, the works. It was a dealer demo and thought yep I like it. Biggest mistake. From day 1 I hated it, it felt top heavy and wobbly at the stop lights. Just not for me. Luckily I found a demo Deluxe in another state 1 year old and did an exchange. Still cost me 1k. But from that point I only eve bought a Deluxe. So in the the end the 1k is forgotten with the pleasures of the Deluxe bikes I've owned. Big pity they are now canned.
