why is the gtx 1050 still overrated the prices for those cards in my country is still high in the used market like the card is not a medium tier card is not begining to become and entry level card
Don't use those old cases if they are new (mint condition). Someone in the world would love to have a brand new retro PC case for a new retro build. Someone will thank you for not wasting them on a cheap budget build.
"Anyone remember Zip drives?" Yeah, I think I still have a couple (SCSI interface) floating around in my bits & bobs. Best deal? Trident Z RAM hands down.
Love taking a quick look at RU-vid late at night and seeing Tech YES just released a new video a few mins ago. It’s like finding $20 that you didn’t even remember you had.
I used to hide money in books when I was a kid, found hundreds of dollars over the years but I often wonder how much I've missed and is still hiding between the pages somewhere
I am just as excited as you to see builds in those old “new” cases 😁 always love to see the deals like every month! My favorite deal had to be those cases for sure
Love those old school gaming cases. That is the era I started building system in and so it has a special place in my heart. I just love that aesthetic.
My first ever gaming PC back in 2007 had a case very similar to that Dragon case, when i was a teenager i loved tacky stuff like that. It had a Intel Pentium D back when dual cores were mind blowing and a ATi Radeon X1950. That PC was the first thing i saved up for when i got my first job.
The 5 cases were my favorite deal of the month. I remember cases like that were the norm when I first got into building PC's. I would love to find a deal like that here in the US!! That dragon case is the best!!! Love the vids man!! Keep em coming!!!
20:03 It's better to look for deals before the weekend if you can. On the weekend everybody is going to be looking for deals and you have to compete with them. This also holds true for Ebay, if you bid on auctions that end during a weekday you will usually pay less than ones that end on the weekend. That said, if you want to sell something using an Ebay auction, ALWAYS make it so it ends on a Saturday or Sunday evening so you get the most money.
I still have my retro PC cases from old builds done back in the early 2000s. The ThermalTake Tsunami Dream, Antec Lanboy, Fong Kai mid tower and a couple of Cooler Masters. I loved those cases and the Tsunami Dream is designed so well that it wouldn't look out of place in today's market. I also have cases from pre-built PCs bought when I was in high school from the likes of HP (Pavilion 9680c) and Dell Dimension XPS B.
Picked up a broken gaming pc this week for €40 which had a faulty psu, asus sabertooth x58, 12gb 1800mhz hyperx ddr3, i7 950, 256gb ssd, 2tb hdd, 1tb hdd and a old zalman case in pretty rough condition. Pretty sweet deal and got lucky that psu was faulty and not something else.
Those cases are awesome! You got some useful relics there. I'm envious about those power supplies because they've really dried up where I am. Sadly, the demand for gaming PCs is starting to decline in my area, so I may have to make some compromises.
Broken PCIe? Broken CPU socket? No problem! When Tech YES Lovin is not enough, Tech YES Taiwan comes to the rescue! Actually, I think I could do the PCIe myself. :P
Holy crap mate, great hull! Free P400 case for the win. I just bought a used one for $70 USD shipped. Plus another $20 to upgrade the front panel to the P400A for better airflow. Well, the wife got the front panel for me for my birthday. But still.
I recently picked up a mobo+cpu combo, it was an asrock b450m pro4 and a ryzen 5 1600af for only 150!. Best deal ever, also a huge upgrade from my 3770.
3 months ago I got these used parts: PC Case: Thermaltake Commander MS-I PSU: Corsair VS450 Motherboard: Asrock B85M Pro4 CPU: Intel Core i3 4160 RAM: 2x4 GB DDR3 2133Mhz G-Skill RipJaws GPU: R9 280x 3GB Vapor X SSD: Samsung 860 EVO 250 GB (Checked its health and it was excellent) HDD: WD Blue 1TB (Checked its health and it was good) I got all of this for 165 euros (273 AUD). I know the CPU is not so much, and that motherboard doesn't really support 2133 Mhz RAM, but still. Was that a good deal? PD: The GPU had just one fan, and I had to reflow it cause it stopped working. It now has new fans that costed me 10 AUD.
hey i just paired the exact same 970 with a 3470 and 16 GB and i must say im super surprised by the level of performance 60 fps 180p med on division 2 for like £260 all in
@@dannyc7839 if you dont play online multiplayer like LOL, DOTA 2, CSGO, COD WARZONE i guess a quadcore i5 will be enough. I Just switched to xeon 2620 v3 6 cores 12 threads @3.2Ghz found out that my i5 4570 bottlenecks my rx 570 I gained a lot of fps on multiplayer online games and some minimal like around 5~10 fps on offline games.
Hey mate love the channel!! I’ve only just found it , it’s funny I’m hunting for parts same area as you we where hunting the same parts ! 😂 I got the 1050ti got two 1060s this week & got a crazy good deal on a 2080ti last week
These are some good deals. Here in the UK on FB marketplace you're more likely to find about five idiots selling their AMD FX based systems for £800. "Extreme gaming PC, runs all games just fine." The dragon case you got is sick btw! Haha.
This was a really good one, I felt like a proper Tech Yesser this morning when I was washing a broken rx 480 and 580 in the sink with a toothbrush. I was worried about residue so I did a quick alcohol bath for them as well. Will see if they work in a week.
Wow interesting to watch from Europe. We're getting curfews here. No masks and hand shaking there! I wonder if I can sell my old rig given covid but I have picked up some parts outside people's houses.. albeit with masks and no handshakes! :)
750W isn't enough for a 3080 combined to a 10900K (not overclocked) or even a bit lower CPUs. System shut down under heavy load (like OCCT's Power Supply test) due to the power spikes of the GFX card. (tested with several 750W platinum PSU from brands like corsair / seasonic ... and several 3080 from 3 brands : MSI, PALIT and Gigabyte) fine with 850W ! Of course you can undervolt as you've shown (and yes it works indeed), but you can't tell customers to do it... Ohhh and nice NOS cases by the way ;)
please put some crazy upper-mid or high-range systems into those sick old cases! those are so unique and will sell at a premium to the right buyer that I'm sure is out there. Will totally make the listing stand out
The 9800GX2 is actually a pretty interesting card of some Retro PC collecting value, because it's sporting 2 GPUs on it's PCB. Maybe you can combine it with a slick WinXP build for retrogaming in one of these old - period correct - cases. If not, put it on Ebay, I'll bid ;)
@Tech Yes City Would I be excited by those NOS cases? I collect NOS P/S2 mechanical ball mice and other neat old mice, I particularly like the ones with translucent cases, what do you think?
Awesome haul this month. Great deals! The retro Dragon case was a childhood dream. But by when I saved up for it, twas sold :( never could find another. Time to do TechYes-SleeperBuild! Give it the loving it deserves! TechYesStyle!
Yeah for me the old cases were the best score. New stuff you can always buy, but finding brand new old stuff is close to impossible or cost more than it's worth it. I've been searching for months for an old case in this type of condition which also looks nice, but I haven't had any luck. All are either in bad shape or just not appealing :(
@@xingbairong finding it brand new is very hard in my country but some that I got were in very good condition besides the dust inside and some not. It’s definitely much more fun to get your hand on some older stuff. All new cases are great and all but a lot of them look the same.
This week I got lucky, mining rig with 1050ti strix, 470 8gb strix, 480 8gb nitro, 570 4gb strix, asrock z270m, 4gb ddr4, celeron 3930, kingston 120gb and a corsair tx750m gold for 300USD. It is a really good price where I live.
those retro cases admittedly look really cool even by today's standards in my opinion. i would love to have a couple of these and build some decent machines inside them, keeping them as working showpieces.
my dad got Cooler Master case for his last PC build in 2011. It has an LCD screen as well, and came with a 24-pin extension plug, if that makes sense. Basically you plug your PSU's 24pin into the case's 24pin plug, and then you plug that into the mobo. the case then took 2 of the wires from the 24pin plug, to power the LCD screen. Last year, this plug suddenly shorted and killed my dad's motherboard. As I don't have any motherboard for this platform, I haven't been able to check if the CPU still works (i5-750). It's a shame though, I know my dad gets attached to his hardware, and I've had to give him a Phenom II replacement. If he starts playing games again I'll gladly set him up with better hardware, but he became a bit of a couch dweller (on his phone)
Can you try the zen 3 cpus with esports titles like valorant on low settings, 1080p in order to fully load the cpu. Interested to see how that would perform.
How do you keep up with what you paid for the parts vs what you end up selling a system for? What are you profit margins and how do you determine the value of a system ?
