In this video I bought a brand new YAHAMA R1! As a beginner I know many people say that you should not start on a 1000cc sport bike but we are going to put that to the test on this channel. I apologize for the heavy breathing and plan to fix that in future videos.

First wanna say dope video🤞🏾 looking into getting my first bike soon within these next few months! I never rode motorcycles before and I seriously can’t wait! Been looking into getting an R7 as my first bike but I know i’m going to want that upgrade down the road so I been telling myself just get the R1. Obviously starting on 1000cc isn’t ideal and watching everyones videos bashing people that start on liter bikes is kinda messing with my head… but i’m 24 and very responsible and mature for my age so Im sure i’ll do fine! Thank you for sharing your video and you earned a new sub ✨

Thanks for watching and thanks for the sub. As for you getting any liter bike I am not going to recommend or decline because it is all on the rider. I have been riding for about a month just fine I practice a little but not as much as I should because im afraid to drop the bike. Im approaching 1k miles and what I can tell you so far if you can control your throttle and learn how to properly brake you will ride just fine. TAKE THE MSF COURSE AND PRACTICE IN A PARKING LOT BEFORE PULLING OFF ON ANY BIKE YOU BUY. Good luck !!

Badass bike but a few small tips, hard for me to tell if you're doing it in the video or not but with a super sport seating position you want to keep your forearms pulled in towards the tank and use your back and abdomen to hold yourself up, basically you don't want to be in a sort of push up position using your handlebars to hold yourself up because I notice a lot of people with supersports like to do so with the aggressive seating position. Doing so will help you get that fine tuning out of your handlebars when it comes to leaning and turning. Also when you hop on the freeway, with super sport peg position being behind your ass or further back than normal bikes, you want to push on your pegs a little bit when you're at speed with your feet to keep yourself centered rather than pulling on your handlebars when the wind starts to push against you while you're accelerating because it will bring weight off of your front tire, reducing traction. Apologies if I sound like a karen but since you call it your first bike I figured i'd share a bit of knowledge, also your grom for sure counts as a first bike, two wheels is two wheels.

Thank you for taking the time out to type all of that. But I will try practicing those things in future videos

i started on a 750 gsxr, its just all about throttle control. every bike can go a normal speed.... BUT i can understand that you dont want to be dropping a nice 1000cc bike. if you get a higher cc bike for your first bike i would get something thats used thats in good condition that you wouldnt mind being dropped if you do happen to do that. a big thing also is to know your limits, if you arent experienced just take it slow and steady... once you get the hang of it then you can start going faster. but you explained it pretty well and you even said it yourself to not start on a 1000cc which i can respect that. good shit man keep doing you and just know your limits!

Honda GROM definitely counts as a first bike. It was my first bike, and I learned the basics on it. Rode it for about 800 miles (all parking lot miles), then took the DMV exam with it. Once I passed, I went to the dealership over the weekend to get a 600. Funny enough and kinda similar to your situation, my dream bike was the CBR600. I actually put cash down on the 2021 model. However, this was in August of 2021. Just as we were coming out of the pandemic. At that point, nobody had bikes in stock, and everything was “coming”. Except for the R6. After all my training, and now being finally ready for my 600, I wanted one immediately. The only bike available was the ZX6R, 2021, Nightshade. So, that’s what I purchased. Took it easy at the beginning and only rode on familiar roads. Two or three minor close calls at the beginning due to my inexperience on a bike, but no issues with speeding. It can be done. But I’ll tell ya, that first ride home from the dealership was the scariest and most exciting thing I ever did. Jeez!!!

Yea your story does sound much like mine. I had 3500 miles on my grom & loved every bit of it. On the way home on both bikes I was only worried about stalling.

also from your question at the end of the video, exhaust wise there's a bunch you can find, I recommend going and just searching on youtube R1 exhaust sounds and finding one you like and that matches your price point, a slip on won't violate any warranty you have. I would recommend Akrapovic as that's what I currently have on my bike and it sounds great for a slip on and its a good brand, although like I said just find something you like the sound of that's not gonna bother you. If you want something loud I would check out SC project

My first bike was an 07 R1 so yes an R1 is fine for a beginner bike if you ease into it.

What was you experience before this? Cause I took to bikes quick but I wasn’t cruising thru traffic one handed my first day that’s for sure lol. I started on a mt07 which i think was perfect cause it’s not fast but it has enuf to keep you happy for a while. I went to a zx6r after about 3 months just cause I always intended on a crotch rocket 🚀. Beautiful bike but man you know if you actually are trying to ride hard and get better crashing is inevitable… get some good frame sliders.

I had a honda grom lol about 5 years ago that’s all the experience I have. I wanted the ZX6R but the dealership near me took forever to get one. I do plan on getting a crash cage so I can practice slow speed maneuvers. Thanks for watching the video

given you dont plan to ride like a dumbass, a 1000cc sports bike is not so bad. i have had a few bikes, and the worst for a beginner i had is a ktm 625smc. it wants you to play around. and thats how you crash. my 1000cc sportsbike is rather tame at low revs, and if you dont use the revs, a single cyl supermoto will be much more torquey. i would not tell anyone that a 1000cc is to much if you have ridden any kind of morocycle before, even if its just a 125cc. that said, i like middle class 400-700cc bikes the best.

Everyone talking about how dangerous it is, and it is, but so is every motorcycle. What youre not going to like is how many times you're gonna drop this gorgeous bike!
@nufshed
@nufshed Месяц назад
Yea I notice most people drop them when parking and moving the bike around at slow speeds so I tend to be pretty cautious at those times.
