Did you dispute it and explain that? I get them on my videos using music that came with a free video editor. I dispute them and explain and it gets removed.
Always amazes me how shipping companies have somehow convinced the world that delivering an Item from Point A to Point B in one piece is beyond their control and completely someone else's problem.
@@MacXpert74They are, but sometimes there are clauses where if you sign for it, it means you accept the item in the condition that it’s in. Which is always a ridiculous concept , because of course you are going to sign for it after waiting so long, rather than refuse delivery and have it sent all the way back to in this case, the UK. And most of the time whatever you have ordered is fully packed into a box and it’s unreasonable to expect the delivery driver to wait whilst you unpack and inspect it all. Then to add further confusion to the mix, many couriers wont let you open it (even to inspect it) until…..you guessed it…. You’ve signed for it!!! So it’s a massive clusterf**k that’s probably designed that way to minimise returns and refunds. I had an argument with a courier not long ago when I made them wait until i inspect an item before signing for it, I had ordered a fish tank and the first 2 had arrived broken and was a nightmare to send back, the third arrived broken as well, i could hear the glass moving around in the box, so i refused to sign for it until i had opened it (mainly to prove it was obviously broken), the delivery driver didn’t know what to do, didnt want me opening it until i signed for it, so he phoned his boss and everything. In the end he had no option but to take it back as i refused delivery.
I wonder whether some of that may have been due to extreme heat in a container under the sun. We could say the car's in safe hands now but we saw the treatment that hubcap got 😀

It may not have been the reveal you were expecting, but just think of the feeling you had as a kid when K.I.T.T. was brought back to his former glory at the end of the Junkyard Dog episode. 🥳
@@RetroRecipes Does this mean you are going for the super-pursiut version of KIIT? Now that would be a challenge to get those side aerofoils and nose to go in and out. Not to mention the rear wing extension. Personally, I preferred the pre-facelift version of KITT.
I would have been pissed if a KITT clone came to me like that. $25K down the drain, and it's not even a 5.0L variant of a Firebird. Now there's a reason to get rid of the 3.1L for something else as well.

To buy something that gave such joy and fun to many a child and adult of the 80s is super cool. KITT will always be instantly recognisable the world over. I know you will do Kitt proud by rebuilding it into something amazing. You will definitely want to customize the seat brackets to lower the driver's seat. I had a 83 camaro years ago and I had to customize the seat brackets and even the cushion to give myself more head room. Congratulations on buying Kitt.

The feeling I saw in your face when you received the car reminds me of what I felt one year ago when I took a long train ride to buy my own Kitt. I had dreamed about owning one since I was a kid and built up a impossible dream, that in retrospect had no chance to come thru. The moment I sat in the car and drove it around the block my dream was chattered.. :(It was not the feeling I wanted and I was devastated. I think it was a combination of things that made me feel that. I had never been in a old Pontiac before and was not prepared how small it was inside (everything looks so big in the show), the steering to close to my body, the gadgets didn't look so cool up close, the car movements when driving.. Yeah, not a modern car... I was so sure that I was gonna buy my own Kitt that I had not thought about a possible train ride back home. But I had to say no to it and turn home without it. I felt so sad.. I still dream from time to time that I could find a Kitt and get that feeling I dreamed of for so many years. I'm glad to see your honest feelings in this video and despite the initial let down, that you plan to make it the best possible Kitt for you. I really hope that you'll get to the point that it matches your dream. I'll definitely will follow this project and It may give me back a desire to do try and get my own kitt again. Cheers!

I can barely manage to get even a small package delivered undamaged anymore. I guess the fact that it came to you in one piece is actually pretty impressive. But, now you have a really fun restoration project ahead of you!
That is awesome! If you ever find your gear shifter stuck and find out the shifter cable has melted: make sure your engine is ground right. It was a common problem of 80's Fisher bodies and how my 87 Monte Carlo SS got it's name, Sparky.

It tickles my heart to see such a base of nostalgic mid agers helping each other out. I DJ on occasion and have been finding that more and more people respond really well to 80's music remixes. It might have been built mediocre. The shipping could not have helped, but who knows how much gum and duct tape is holding that thing together. It's a project car on a budget. And it wasn't a great car to begin with... Though now iconic.
@@bzuidgeest It just seems odd that someone would spend all the money, time and effort to buy this car in California and have it shipped all the way across the ocean - not cheap! - and then do a half-assed job on the project. Maybe a case of biting off more than they could chew.

Why is there no emoji that looks like K.I.T.T? 🤔 And to think my biggest childhood dream was owning a full set of the Disney read-alongs on record (because there's only a fraction of them on cassette) and cataloging them all on my Commodore 64. I turn 45 this year and I'm still nowhere near it! 😵💫🙃

I can only think of how shallow someone's life must be to damage something that's had so much effort put in out of pure jealousy. I hope it didn't dampen the experience too much. congrats. im 29 years old and its been a life long dream of mine to own one one day. This fuels my fire to do so so much more, but likely i would find ways to program some extra things in like smoke and auto door opening and a few other things. I have so many ideas ive saved up over the years and slowly learned how to do so so when i get it ill be able to get to work on it

Loved this and absolutely can relate, both as a Knight Rider fan and experiencing the same as a 007 fan when my V12 Vanquish arrived home last year and seeing it unloaded from the delivery truck. Looking forward to seeing how this adventure with Peri'K.I.T.T'rick develops.
I will probably never have the chance to have a KITT replica, if not for the fact that I can't drive. I have met a KITT replica a couple of years ago, he was part of a retro car exhibit at a mall. I literally started crying, having met my childhood hero. He was cordoned off, but I crawled under the cordons just to pet his "nose", at the scanner. "Hello, old friend", I said, wiping happy tears from my eyes. I asked a nice young couple to take photos of me with KITT with my phone. One of my greatest experiences, ever!
You know, it's really not that bad, you will be able to fix the cosmetic issues with the skills and resources you have. The main thing is the bodywork seems really sound and mechanically it runs after being in a shipping container for a month! I've been there with older cars and they can be a money sink. But, they are also nostalgic and unique which is why we are drawn to them - same reason we get our old consoles out of the attic :) You bought very well, don't worry 👍

Awesome pickup! I have been a Knight Rider fan since 1982 when I was 6 years old. This show is what got me to be a Pontiac fan. I have owned several Pontiacs previously, & I currently own 3 Pontiac cars currently. I own a Pontiac G8, G5, & a 04 Grand Am GT coupe. The fun part is making the car how you want it. In the future you can have the car converted to having T- Tops, just like Knight Rider Historians screen used car that was originally a hard top car. I live in berkshire in the UK,I used to garage my car behind a block flats,there was 26 garages in total.Roughly 6 garages down from me had the exact make and model of KITT my draw hit the floor literally,all I remember was the black paint finish it was so deep it was exceptionally striking.Super shiny too.Few years later the chap must have sold it and bought a black Mk2 Jaguar.

When we had a drive in the Dutch KITT, we had people crossing the street sort of bending down to look into the car to see who’s driving it. Yeah, the seller said he didn't leave them in there 🧐 I have some great footage already of people stopping me to take photos of the car, and with the car. It's undeniable how much people love KITT the world over.
@@RetroRecipes I’m so happy happy for you Chris. Well deserved and of course it’s a world wide icon. I’m still in awe when I see one. I was truly in awe when my friend gifted me an afternoon with hé Dutch KITT replica. I saw you were visibly moved. I had that similar feeling and I did even own it myself, and I can say that as a 38/39 year old back then I did truly well up. It’s such a magical car especially for if 50 somethings sitting washed and scrubbed in our pajamas (gym shorts and tank top my parents were frugal like that - we moved around a lot over the globe so any excess luggage was just that, excess luggage) with our hairs combed and washed. Shrugged behind the ears ready to watch the show. These are literally some of the fondest memories of our family. My little brother in my lap (as a 4/5 year old he didn’t care much for it but I remember moving the crisps and the fact he was allowed to stay up). Mum with the fresh cut and fried crisps dad with his newspaper (he still don’t know who KITT is, despite sitting through perhaps 90 Friday episodes). Man… I’m welling up thinking about it. I think that you like me really look back fondly at those times. One of my best times in my youth was actually 1983-1984 living in Folkstone. And also there Knight Rider was on the Tele. It literally was one of my biggest worries when we moved from Harrisburg PA to Folkstone (well dad worked in Folkstone we lived in Ashford) England, that there wouldn’t be Knight Rider on the Tele and out Friday nights wouldn’t be the same. It’s funny how an 11 year old’s brain works. I do distinctly remember that the UK and later by home country, were lacking behind with the show. But if never mattered. I don’t even believe it aired on Fridays in the UK and NL, but it was always a distinctive family memory. Just like (you as a UK citizen may remember) Sky Channel’s Fun Factory. The only time (it’s knight rider) that my 6 year younger brother and I didn’t fight. And actually stole the hidden cookies and sat cuddling in front of the TV. It’s great to remember that my little brother was always the one who outsmarted mum and his older brother and found the cookies 😂 and that was the only time we actually shared without argument. God I miss him so much these days. And I truly mean it when I say that your channel opens a portal to all the great memories of the past! And love you and lady fractic for that.

I think you took a lot of us with you on this emotional journey - thanks for sharing the good and the bad, experiencing the thrill & happiness of getting your hands on something you've longed to own for such a long time but then mixed with the emotion of it not being as good as you'd hoped (especially when it's caused by a 3rd party) is always bittersweet. WOW! Just WOW! That was quite the emotional roller coaster. Reminds me of the time I had a Nissan 300ZX shipped from the other side of Australia, but that was the fault of the seller in my case. That aside....YOU HAVE A KITT!!!!!! And you know what Christian? Seeing you walk back to the car....YOU HAVE A KITT!!! That's friggin AWESOME! And what I found myself thinking is, you have a KITT as if you'd found the original KITT all these years later! At the end of the day, he was a car (Not KARR) and he WOULD have aged, just like the one you have. So it's kind of MORE legit than finding one that looks brand spanking new. It's what KITT would look like coming out of semi (not that semi) retirement. Ready to dust off and fight crime again, one last time. Looks great, I owned an 88 'GTA' Trans Am, I remember the brittle interior, the creaks, the lack of power from the V8 and the awful brakes but it was the best car I'd ever owned.

Amazing video, how odd it went back and forth from USA to England and back again. Did anyone check it over before it left Southampton, it may have been like that before it left? Anyway at least it drives so it’s actually pretty good. I’m surprised a yoke is legal compared to a steering wheel as it must be harder to do quick turns. you over spend on a v6 kitt no T tops but still your dreams r reall now! i sold my 91 305. 5.0 Kitt in germany due to returning back to canada and i regred it 100% no other car gave me so much happiness as building kitt i hope i get to build one more in this lifetime enjoy your car to the fullest!
