In hk you just check the price at price.com.hk. although its in chinese you just type it the model you looking for in english and you good to go .they will show you all the price .the shop address and its including price with warranty or grey market price .really helpful and save your time alot

Jason, I hope y’all had a great time in Hong Kong. I’ve been living here for 3 years and enjoy it, although at times it can be sensory overload. BTW, love Sim City and you showed 2 of my favorite shops, DC fever & D-Base. When it comes to new or used cameras, lenses and gear you can pretty much find it there. I will say I’ve never checked out Borwin, I’ll have to do that one of these days.

Jason I went to the exact same store to get my 16-35 2.8 FE. Sim City is awesome! They told me to go to a Sony store to get my warranty approved for international use.

You were much more calm than I would have been at the second store!

Great vlog Jason! Hong Kong looks like it’s an awesome place to visit. How do the camera stores there compare to places like B&H and Samy’s?

I always buy new camera gear when I visit family in HK from the states. Last Jan I got the Sony A7III ,24-70GM lens and Sandisk 64gb extreme pro for about $3800. It would have been $4300 here in the US. They threw in extra 2x batteries(generic brand), battery charger, card reader, mini tripod, hdmi cable , sony camera bag and $1000UKD gift card for Watsons (similar to a Walgreens/CVS in the states). Also since it was Chinese New Year I got a hot water thermos, animal plusy and new year cookies. Before if I need to use the warranty I could always give it a friend/family member going back to HK so I didn't care about it. But this time it came with a international warranty. It was a good deal for me.

I'm a sony APSC shooter that currently owns the sigma 16mm 1.4 and I'm making the decision on my next lens and haven't decided yet. I have my eyes on the tamron 28-75 2.8 and havent found a good review about it for apsc, do you have any clues or any advice for my next lens? Keeping in mind that I mostly use gimbals and tripod and low light is a must. Considering the other 2 sigmas as well (30 & 56mm 1.4).

This is so coincidental. I was just in Simcity yesterday.. same day as you were there. I bought a used Sony Zeiss Distagon 35mm f1.4 that was mint (3 months old with 9 months of warranty left) for $1100 (about $500 less than new). I purchased my Sony ARIII from D Base. It's a good shop that provides good prices vs the official Sony store in Hong Kong. For used lenses and gear try the first shop on the top floor left hand side. Most of the used stuff I got from them always worked and they are honest about the condition of their products. Their pricing is really good. Good luck in Hong Kong.

Had I known you were taking orders for Batis 40 on your trip, I would have jumped on that HK price. So I ordered from B&H, took forever to get it, but worth it.

Did you shoot this vlog with the on board mics? Or did you attach a mic to the camera? If that was the on boards, I'm thinking you might not even need a mic for vlogging. Audio was pretty good.

I was in HK in Oct 2018, didn't know where to go to buy camera equipment at a good price, ended up in stores like Fortune which is more expensive than USA. Then I went to Japan and same problem Ended up going home and bought everything from B&H. I was born and raised in HK and none of my relatives know where to go, thank you for the buying tips and will be looking forward to my next trip to HK to do more camera gears shopping.

None of the stores keep grey stock, they all order in if you want a grey import. Usually 24hrs and you can go in and collect. My go to stores in HK are Borwin, Sim City and Cam 2.

Totally legit stores! Bought all my Sony camera gear at D-Base and Borwin in Mong Kok.

We have a Internet site in UK and I have bought a few lenses from them and 100 on my samyang 12mm 200 on my zony 55mm etc

I think the main problem with grey import lens, there is warranty but the warranty is only at the country of origin.

FYI, if you want the best prices from Borwin, you need to contact them a few days ahead of time so that they can get your item in stock.

Sim City is good for misc camera gear. I bought a sensor leaning kit and 20 Zeiss lens wipes for $15 US

There are too many good used Batis 40mm ones around at that mall. There is a surplus of Batis lens in HK , usually can get them cheap.

Yeah you don’t come out from Sim City empty handed. 2 weeks ago I was there and came out with a manfrotto pro light cinematic expand, C$80 cheaper than here in Toronto

I've shopped quite a bit in HK. Over the years, I realize there are certain things NOT to buy if you do not know a local to send you to a reputable place. That is any memory storage device (i.e. hard drives, flash drives, sd cards, etc.). They can display a higher & faster capacity than it actually is. They can demonstrate that it's legit by using it on a computer but there's often something wrong with it ... like the files aren't there the second time you plug it in or the maximum capacity seems like 256GB but you can only fit 64GB. However, HK is the best for buying legacy cameras & lenses. Great condition & prices. Great place to buy new cameras & lenses too but it really helps to know a local. Super powered bright laser pointers (even some that can burn) can be found & haggled for dirt cheap. Clothes are affordable too. Haggle when possible.

Hello Mr. Vong, my question has nothing to do with your current video (sorry), but seeing as how you are my sony guru, I felt like I had to ask you anyway, even though you don't seem to have ever made a video about this topic. I currently have the sigma 150-600 with mc-11 for my sony a7iii. I'm debating returning it for the 100-400mm. I like having the additional reach, but then the 100-400 seems a bit friendlier in terms of carrying around. Would you have any technical reasons as opposed to quality of life reasons for me to make the switch? Any information you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Why have you bought the Batis 40mm? I could understand the 25mm or the 85mm? Are the 40mm really 40mm or is it more like a 38mm or 43mm or is it similar to the 45mm Tamron?
