With the higher mileage ones you might get lucky and get one that already had the trans replaced. Also keep in mind the stabilitrack issues that might pop up too. Other than that, these trucks are awesome and cheap to replace most things with the only real major con being the gas mileage. Been wanting one for a long time as a daily.
@@kapss0832 From what I understand it has to do with the steering system where if the computer detects something is out of spec, it'll reduce the fuel and timing which causes a power loss. I'm not 100% sure about the fix if it happens, but I do know the stabilitrack system will trigger a warning with bad wheel bearings which these trucks are known to eat through.
mjs1012 thanks man I own a 2006 and it happened to me 3 months ago a quick fix for it is to hold the traction control button for 5 seconds to completely turn off the stabilitytrak but it does not fix the actual problem
Kapss 08 I've seen that as the bandaid fix, but again, I don't have one (yet) so never really looked into the right way to fix it. Do you have a channel with tbss stuff?
@@mscheets1 you ain't lying because I always buy a pair of Timken Wheel Bearings which are $300 each where I'm at in Detroit. The cheaper option is Precision Wheel Bearings which is owned by the same company as Timken.
I had an 06 tbss 2years ago until it got stolen I truly miss it💔💔💔 guys if you own a ss blazer take care of her either killswitch or viper alarms to secure it dont let ur guard down these things are hella hot in the streets!!
A lot of these trucks get Re built at 100 K So don't let the mileage scare you Also those ticks are complicated sometimes they could be lifters Valve slaps But some people confuse them with a loud injector But the 1st one was a Exhaust manifold
@@travelingbrother3576 not too much if you go to an honest mechanic you can even do it yourself. But it could also be ticking due to lifter failure and that’s almost an engine rebuild, need new lifters and maybe a new camshaft.
Dont go awd. Upgrade oil pickup tube or c6 oil pan(youll fry your cam bearings if you dont) mine lasted 3 months without it. Always 7qts of motor oil, Shift kit on tranny, and tune it. Trust me youll love the truck just got to fix the fundamental flaws in these trucks that gm completely screwed up on.
Jonathan Perez I totally agree with every word u just said!!! Just got my 07 Tbss and about to drop the pan to address the oil issue and just learned that the awd , the front axel actually runs through the oil pan!! My that would be a nightmare!!!
That’s a lot for that SS. 12k I just bought one ss3 fully loaded 98k for 12k clean clean white Awd. Goodluck! Awesome car! Take care of it and it will take care of you.
You gotten very very lucky buying that thing in the city that you're living at because in big cities like Detroit, Chicago, New York, and Dallas since the car community in those cities knows how rare those trucks are and no one will ever give one under 100k miles for $12k. It's only 24,000 ever made!
It's the 1SS package compared to the 3SS with heated leather seats, steering wheel controls, upgraded radio, mirrors, better floor mats, back seat controls, and lots of other little convenience upgrades.
I might be wrong. But 2006 trailblazer SS has Ls and Lt model only in that year. LS ss is basically a 1ss with cloth and Lt is a 3ss with leather and other features.
Trailblazer ss are bad for low oil pressure i had one that just thru a rod with only a 127,000 miles its best to take the oil pan off amd replace the pump and lifters
Replacing the pump does not fix the issue. It is the oil pan design that leads to low oil pressure and a rod thrown. Only a pickup tube relocation or if you are 2WD you can swap in a c6 Vette oil pan.
@@chevycaprice8956 The pickup tube is just in the wrong place. Not a bad design.... the front half shaft going through the oil pan on the AWD models is the issue causing the bad oil pan design. GM just changed the oil pan design and did not move the location of the pick up tube as well. Easy fix is just to run 7.5 - 8 quarts of oil and don't launch out of the hole at every stop light. Have had no issue in my 9-7x Aero for over 4 years and 90,000 miles with just running 8qrts in the pan. Won't change the pickup tube till the engine let goes completely.
@@chevycaprice8956 yea... It was a shit design by GM. The pickup tube relocation isn't hard. It just requires the whole front end torn apart, not worth it for me unless the engine goes and needs to be pulled anyways. Head over to tbssowners.com if you haven't already done so... The best knowledge for this platform is there.
I had a feeling that you sold it since it's been a year, im just trying to get rid of this POS 03 ram and get a TBSS cause I used to have the 06 gto back in 2014. I love the ls2
The first one was pretty rough, they promised they would fix the exhaust manifold and do some body work but never did...the second one was really nice, I didn’t hear that ticking noise good thing I didn’t purchase it, I eventually bought a silver 07 tbss with 134k miles mint condition with remote start, aftermarket radio and sound system for 10,000
