Water pump 6. 2 front bushings Car is around 80k miles/135k km. the 740i with the n54 is a good buy. they are cheap right now and you can maintain fix and even replace the n54 engines for under $1500 now. ive put 200k miles on my f01 and its just now having electronic power steering issues and i just recently had to replace every control arm on the front suspension and the rear air ride. i replaced the engine for $1400 with a brand new freshly built n54 and the car gets driven daily . it was only about 3k dollars to make the repairs and its brand new again. it drives SO good. i want to get a new 7 series but theres no point when this one is still THIS good of a car.

Second owner of a 2011 BMW 760LI with M sport package, watched this and many more videos before purchase. Only replacement was tires front and back with reg tires not run flats, immediate results of better handling, smoother quieter ride. Only maintenance is oil change,with a trans fluid and filter change in the future. Very enjoyable car, the v12 is extremely smooth with torque from 1500 rpm onward. I steered away from the 750i and li because of his recommendations, and tested a 2016 5 series but found its back seat too small and overall ride comfort was not like the 7. For such a big car it doesn't feel like your hampered by its length and seems to me to handle more like a sport sedan then land yacht.Oh and be prepared for total strangers to tell you how much they like your car. Hope you love your purchase..

@@rubenabrego6751 Thanks for the question.All I can say is I love my car, and do recommend the 760li. I don't recommend the 750, because of mechanical issues and recalls, and a class action lawsuit. I never heard too many bad things about the 740, so that could be a option. All I can say is change the fluids, all of them way before the BMW maintenance guide.so, do proper regular maintenance and things should be good. BMW 730LD, had 56000mls on clock, transmission judder on acceleration once the gearbox was hot. Turned out e-clutch problem and valve body seals, £3400 later..... works like a dream... Took an autoguard warranty they paid over £2000 towards the cost, so was unlucky but lucky if that makes sense.

No engine problems just oil changes every 3000-5000 miles. I also top off the coolant and oil every month or so. I own a 2012 one (bought used 3 years ago). The transmision did start leaking. Fix: oil change. New gasket came bundled with the oil btw (so they know..) I put 120k km on it (from 90k to 210k) and no other issues came up. Newer premium cars certainly aren't reliable, I guess I got lucky. Planning on getting a 2016 (the new model, one with around 100k km) soon, since the market value... went well :) Some idiots call a 100k Euro car "money pit". Are you sure? The 8 cylinder versions also have oil consumption issues and faulty oil measurings systems that require you put in 2 quarts of synthetic oil instead of one. Also be aware of transfer case issues if buying an all wheel drive version. And lastly, wheels on these cars bend easily when fitted with low profile run flat tires and driven on poorly maintainedroads, expect to shell out for wheels and tire replacements....

I have now owned 3 750i series a 2003 a 2008 and now a 2014. They all drive amazingly and lose a lot of their value fast. The worst one was the 2008 since for the 48 months I owned it I took into the shop 30 times. The cost of repairs to BMW was over $50K. After the warranty ran out the dealer advise me to sell it immediately since it would require $$$ more repairs. I drove a volt for 3 years which I disliked and returned to a 2014. It has a N63T engine and as the video says they are terrible but better than the earlier N63. BMW was sued and lost a big case in the USA and had to replace and repair about 200K engines. Unfortunately the N63T was not one of them and the problem I have is that the car burns a LOT of oil. I put the 100% synthetic AMSoil- mobile1 is >50% synthetic (that is the definition of full synthetic) so it does not hold. BMW's own oil also is only full synthetic. But engine even burns the 100% synthetic (2,500 miles a quart vs 750 miles a quart). But the car drive amazingly.

Wish I saw this before I bought my 750i with 4.4. I've owned 7 BMW's and this one the maintenance is unreal, can even get an extended warranty. I have 58k on the 2014 and constant nickel/dime issues with door locks and everything he mentions with the infamous 4.4 engine. Warranty ended recently and last year BMW maintenance spent almost $20k in dealership costs. Timing chain and front seal was $8200 alone, injectors and two coils $5700 and now door locks. Dealer wants $1400 a door, I bought new locks on ebay for 76 dollars where BMW wants $574 each. If you buy this car and its nice be sure to find a local repair shop and have them on your speed dial I was shocked how a car that was $102k new, I bought for $46k with 10k miles and in show room condition the trade in value for a 5 year old, garage kept vehicle is $18k (58k miles, no accidents, dents, waxed showroom condition). They are not what they were before.

@@antoinebernard8115 it was a 2014 and I kept it in good condition. Between the massive depreciation and the inability to get a Maintenace contract, when the used car market increased, I sold the car with 70k for 24k and was lucky to get it. The car was in showroom condition but finding good repair people is challenging. For example, the electronic door locks are 1400 a door to repair at BMW and I got to the point I bought them on Ebay for $80 and watched a youtube video and installed them per door. The car simply isnt like the BMW in the 1980 and 1990's, too many electronic issues and the dealership tried to sell me a new one and refused to do anything but a lease. You cannot own the new ones. A real shame because they were wonderful cars to own.

I run a 2014 F01 with 40,000km and have never had a problem. Treat it well and service it and it will run without problems. I’ve had an AMG that cost me 000’s because I chose to drive it hard, but sometimes it’s the luck of the draw. Knowing who owned the car prior to buying second (or third) hand is an excellent indicator, and whether the car has been serviced correctly. If you can’t afford the service and replacement parts (like fuel filters which may cost USD4,000, or a Water pump which may cost USD300) then don’t buy a Euro luxury. Driving like a Lord or a Boss costs. Accept it. Insurance premiums, depreciation, additional fuel costs and all!

I’m looking at purchasing a 2008 750li. Alt ought my mechanic will probably never speak to me again, but I’ve always wanted one and there’s on for sale with 130k miles had a significant passenger from fender bender and was fixed up. Owner says he had it serviced recently and says everything is good working and ready to go. $5000 for it which I think is pretty good. I’m wondering if anyone thinks that particular model year/engine is one to stay away from.

To minimize issues : -change the engine oil after max. 5 000 mi & don't use cheap oil -don't rev the engine past 2 000 - 2 500 RPM while it's cold, after warming up you can use it regularly (you have the oil temperature gauge on the instrument cluster so you will know when it's warmed up) -use high quality/premium fuel and use the car on longer distances too (using the car mainly on short distances is gonna cause issues sooner or later and its gonna shorten the lifetime of the turbochargers for example) -after dynamic driving don't shut off the engine right away, you should wait at least 30 seconds to let the turbochargers cool down a little -change the spark plugs approx. every 37 000 mi

@differentcarreview-dcr
@differentcarreview-dcr 7 лет назад
Well, first of all I would avoid the early production cars, so let's say cars from the first 2 years of production. I would personally choose the BMW, but only because it has better design(personal opinion), better handling and it's more of a driver's car. On the other side the S-class is more comfortable and it's also little bit more reliable than the 7 series.

Thinking of purchasing a used 2011 750li with about 38k on the dash for under 17k. Too good to be true? What should i look for when inspecting the vehicle? Does this model include Bluetooth? Lastly, what is the manufacturer's warranty on this model and do you have any good recommendations for extended warranties for this model?
@differentcarreview-dcr
@differentcarreview-dcr 6 лет назад
I would not recommned buying a 2011 750i, because of those problems mentioned in the video - and this is also the reason why are they so cheap here in Europe too, a 2011 model most probably won't have any warranty, about the extended warranties - I don't know much about them, but it's a good idea to have it Other things to look for: -the engine should be really smooth on idle and during acceleration, without strange noises -The car should ride smoothly without some vibrations or strange clunking, rattling, squeaking noises from the suspension, it's good to open the windows and listen for these noises at lower speed on bad quality roads too -check the paintjob-it should look the same on all the body panels -test all the electronics, check for water leaks/moisture in the interior -buy a car with regular maintenance history -change the coolant and brake fluid after 2 years/or after buying -use only high quality fuel and change the oil regularly Also it's extremely important to let the cold engine warm up-lower RPM for the first 15-20 km / 10-12 mi

I have a 2012 750i. I think it needs a new timing chain. It is clicking when I drive and losing power. Is that very expensive to fix? Someone said I might need a new engine?... it has 90k miles on it. Never had a problem with it beside it drinking too much oil and after I took it to a track. Thats when I think the timing chain broke...
@differentcarreview-dcr
@differentcarreview-dcr 6 лет назад
first of all I would check the car via diagnostic computer, replacing a timing chain on this engine is expensive-the whole engine has to be removed from the car, so you can expect more than $3000-4000 for the repair, but there can be another problem too
@omegasapple

HELP!!! A buddy of mine is selling a 2011 740i for super cheap with 60k miles on it drives fine very clean and doesn’t feel like anything is wrong with it. I want to get it for my girl but I’m just worried about potential problems. What could I expect from it? Is it even worth it? I’m good with a wrench but I don’t want to have to work on it every other week. The guy is loaded and I know for a fact he’s always taken it in for regular maintenance. I’m not familiar with BMWs, I’m more familiar with Audis and Mercedes. So I know parts can get expensive.

Hi The 740i is a good choice, but things like the injectors, or the high pressure fuel pump can go wrong. As I said in the video keep some money for the addtitional repairs Other things to look for: -the engine should be perfectly smooth on idle without strange noises -use only high quality fuel and change the oil regulalry because of the direct injection system -The car should ride smoothly whitout some vibrations or strange noises -Also check the paintjob-it should look the same on all the body panels -change the coolant and brake fluid after 2 years/or after buying -the car should have regular maintance history too about the headlights, well I don't know, but you can try to search some information about this on the bmw forums
