Dont have the Slx DC. But I do have the Metanium dc and curado DC. The new Excense DC ss will be an amazing reel as well. Already pre ordered the 2020 Metanium mgl
I never understood why right handed people fish with right handed reels. You have to cast with your right hand and then transfer the rod into your left hand so you can reel. That's totally whack to me. I'm right handed and I cast with my right, reel with my left on a baitcaster
@@grantholland3007 i have both reels. I bought the pro ti used in fairness but I personally like the slx dc way better. Shimano in general to me just makes much better reels than lews.
Just picked up this reel today and the SLX rod to pair up with it. So far I love it. I’ve always been a Daiwa guy but I’m really impressed with this DC technology at the affordable price point.
Your welcome for the reel thought it would get a great video to make. It performs beyond what I expected. Might get the higher gear ratio for topwater. Great video buddy. Let’s go fish
You slayed them today and wore sneakers! AWESOME day for you and your friends new reel! Truly enjoy your video's. I won't harp on the shoes anymore, wear what's comfortable.
I just got a new reel for 70$ but it originally was 100. It's a Pflueger supreme baitcaster very good reel for the price point. They are still on sale on the Pflueger site if you're interested. Good video
I’m not sure if you’ll see this since it’s an older video - Would you mind sharing what kind of line you’re using here? I just picked up an SLX DC and love the look you’ve got with the line combo
👊🏼😁 thanks man! You know I’ve always appreciated your blunt honesty. I’d rather have someone like you that keeps it real and says what’s really on their mind than that sugar coat shit.
I love the SLX . I have 8 regular SLX s 1 SLX DC a Currado and a Currado DC . The SLX is not as fancy looking but I think performance and comparison in price point absolutely 100% worth every penny . Can't beat it for $100 or $189 .I would like you to try out the SLX for $99 and see your thoughts on it .
Definitely on my “to-do” list. I actually want the SLX in LH retrieve. Reason being is because I already know it’s a good reel, and I want to get comfortable with casting & reeling LH
You are a straight up dude, I appreciate that. Solid video thank you! One of the few channels Im actually subscribed to. Tight lines. Love Ol Glory flying!
I love love love mine!!! It's just been so rainy here that I've only got to use it a handful of times. But it will be my go to this spring. Great video
Damn bro I feel like I have watched about 15 yak videos today lol banger brother as always you have definitely earned my subscription looking forward to the next banger 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸💯💯💯👊👊👊👊👊👍👍👍👍👍👍🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥👌👌👌
I bought a SLX DC because I have not used a bait caster since I was a kid and ended up taking it back. I don't know if it was defective or just me , but I couldn't cast it without getting a bird's nest, even on the #4 setting. I bought a new Zebco Bullet MG and it works perfectly. I don't need no stinking bait caster.
I had an SLX DC but had some issues and returned it... Picked up a Curado DC as replacement. I've got 2 other DC reels and gotta decide if I need another DC. I really like the SLX DC but the spool tension knob was not working right. Will probably try it again.
I got 2 SLX DC 2 curado DC And1 metanium DC they are definitely worth the money. You can definitely backlash them but you know what you're doing you can cast a mile any cast stays consistent with each time you throw it that's what makes it worth it
Whelp, ya sold me. I bought a 150hg a few days ago and liked it so much was thinking about getting the DC....after reading tons of reviews i was leaning hard towards yes. Now, its a yes. Thanks! Also, if you're ever in central texas, i got some ponds that'll get ya 7+ all day.
Say less Grant 👊🏼😁 looking forward to getting a trip together to fish Texas this year! When I was stationed at Ft. Hood I loved the fishing & duck hunting there
I had the name SLX on my wish list for Christmas, I should have been specific cause I got the SLX 7’ spinning rod. The sound though, make that into a tone for your phone.
I bought one of these a couple months ago and quite frankly I wanted it to not be worth the money just because it is so pricey...BUT IT IS AWESOME. Super easy to set up and fine-tune, makes fishing fun and takes really all the guesswork out of fishing with a baitcaster
That reel is one of my best purchases. I love it. I have it on my st croix bass x 7’1 medium heavy fast action. Incredible setup. I know you have the bass x as well.
My Lews pro Ti is my favorite reel, but i just got the Corado DC in December. Its almost as good in my opinion. Would love to see your opinion on both of them
Ok I’m ready and that’s the reel I want. with a Googan green or gold?? 🤔🤷🏽♂️ but now I want that line you have on it please tell me what that was it was totally cool
*FWYP I've been contemplating getting this reel for sometime to handle light lures, did you toss any 1/4th oz lures and what distances did you achieve? I've been watching your channel and just subbed you after this nice video demo. BeGood BeGreat*
Thanks Mike! And i did end up using a 1/4oz tungsten weight on a big worm the other day and the distance was insanely impressive. That video will be out here in the next few days so you can see it.
My best friend swears by Lews, and I've been an Abu Garcia guy my whole life, back in the early 90s I bought the Shimano speed(high speed) something didn't really care for it then.
Well I'd say your friend is on point with the Lew's reel's. I'm about to buy a Lew's Custom Pro SLP with the carbon fiber handle and gold trim. They came down in price a few bucks this year to 259.00 was 279.00. Then I'm getting a Lew's super duty 300 for my A-rig rod.
mikeb99 Lewis and abu are both made by the same Korean company Doyo. Shimano is designed and made by Shimano and are far superior to Doyo reels but that not saying their junk at all and like most things it’s personal preference.
I have thousands of dollars worth of reels. From Penn to Lews to Abu’s etc and even JDM’s. Hell I have 3 Shimano SLX’s that aren’t DC. I have to tell you... my Curado DC and my SLX DC are hands down my go to reels. People bitch about the sound and I was skeptical at first but it’s not as loud as you hear in all the vids. They also trip about new technology but innovation like worm gears and line guides used to get clowned too back in the day. Hell I remember the “you aren’t a real fisherman if you need a fish finder” argument now everyone has them. Anything to make things easier is great in my book. Fishing can be hard AF and picking backlashes while your buddy is catching everything isn’t fun. I love my Lews but it’s sitting on the sidelines while my DC reels are putting in work
Timothy Leger that’s what I aim for actually. To fish new water every video. Or to at least try my best to make that happen. And oh yes, there is so much water down here you couldn’t fish everything in a 20 mile radius in a year if you tried.
I'm scorpion dc all the way, I've used the slx dc as well to me the scorpion felt more consistent and right now the scorpion dc is available on Amazon. Just my opinion respect your perspective on it thank you for an informative video.
@@FishingWithYakPak would you throw big glidebaits and crankbaits with a shimano dc 151 in 6.3 gear ratio? Or go with something else? I bought a cardiff for my bigger baits but its super heavy so i ended buying a 6.2oz wraith from SG but was curious if my shimano would work very well for them, then i can sell my other 2 get some cash back, probably should have asked this before i bought the others but i been trying out a lot of reels to see what i like
I had one, and a curado DC. I honestly couldn't see what all the hype was about, especially the SLX, it was so uncomfortable in hand, curado was solid though. Sold em both for new sixgill rods and reels.😎
@@FishingWithYakPak i want all of them, idk if you watch Shimano TV 's channel but the JDM MGL gave the Anteraes (or however you spell it) DC a run for it's money on casting distance, super impressive. P.S. im like fanboying rn over the fact that you commented back like total white girl status OMG OMG. lmfao thanks for the recognition totally made my night!
The SLX DC is essentially a SLX reel with an expensive breaking system that first cast removes any and all doubt if it is worth the extra cost. Settled on the SLX DC after watching your video. Zero buyers remorse.. Thanks!
I have the SLX DC and the SLX XT. The XT is where it is at guys. I was blown away with how smooth she was. Love the DC but if you no how to use a baitcaster grab you a XT
For me to spend BIG money on a bait caster it would have to 1. Cast SIGNIFICANTLY further than a $100 reel or 2. Be able to cast REALLY light lures (1/16th for example) a respectable range. Just because "it doesn't rats nest THAT often" isn't enough to justify spending big money on IMO. Not necessarily talking about the Shimano DC as it's not unreasonably priced. I'm talking the $400-500 reels and up.
