I find it funny... when I feel down, I always watch your youtube vids. Your inspiration and motivation, the way you talk about events, the pros and cons. All of it is meaningful to you and you are allowing us to understand that mentality state that you felt in those moments of your experiences. I find it super cool, that you have that energy - a non - visible energy that we all can relate and connect even though the events were different. Okay... Just so you know... the dart hit the greater Kansas City area. I'm not sure what you would want to do there, but keep this in mind... if the three of you went on a trip to find some of the world's best barbecue, you would be truly rolling in it if you went to KC. Okay... It's your birthday... and those days all over the world are considered personal benchmarks of growth or progress. It's that day when your mom breaks out the yardstick and has you stand against the kitchen wall and she marks your height. You step away and look at succession of black horizontal lines and you marvel at the upward moving ticks. You can see a graphic representation of your growth. Your clothes don't fit the way they once did. The t-shirt that easily covered your torso, now barely fits over your shoulders and its bottom now rests somewhere above your navel. Shoes that had excess room, now pinch your toes. The marks on the kitchen wall and clothes that no longer fit are the signs that we are no longer small, but show that we've grown taller, broader, and more graceful. There is real evidence that we are transforming into something bigger and better. You mentioned the journey... the journey is all about living, growing, and keeping those legs moving. I'm not sure if its a game in the traditional sense, but what I've been learning lately is that winning and losing are not as important is diving in with open eyes and being a part of everything. The living is in the doing...whether it's creating content, sharing time and talents, giving a voice to the voiceless, breaking bread with loved ones, expanding all sorts of relationships, and just being an active participant in a living, breathing partnership... Those are the things that make us bigger and better than we were. Living and doing are the things that grow our hearts. I can honestly say that I did not plan to end up living in a hot and dusty place halfway around the world at this stage in my life. It was neither my plan nor my goal. I did set goals and I kept moving my feet... and to my surprise, the path of my life took me to places and people that let me experience life in ways I could never imagine. The tapestry of my life has so many textures and colors that can all be attributed to one sentence... Well, it wasn't what I planned, but it's been a helluva fun ride. So, set goals... keep your eyes and your heart open to the world that springs up in front of you. If the path diverges from the plan or goal, that's okay. Keep walking, pedaling, running, and swimming through it all. Remember that partners, family, and friends will add flavor to the whole thing. What's life without the ups and downs of relationships? Hey, that's probably the most fun and challenging part of it all... but the challenge brings new life and growth. So... Happy Birthday... it's a time to look backward, look around, look forward, and be grateful for everything that has been and will be. Get on your bike and ride! Keep on keepin' on!
