@@BagsPackedFamily if you visit balikpapan in kalimantan try to visit depot miki .it is a famous restaurant with reasonable price.maybe you can get some discount cos the the husband of the owner's daughter is also a teacher.it just takes more or less half hour from the airport.most taxi drivers know the plc.when you get there just meet a woman named mary.she is the boss n i think she will give you some discount.i will tell her about you.there are delicious buns and milk coffee served there.also black coffee and coffee with tea

There's another fish market in Rajawali Street. It's closer to losari beach and the acces is not as crowd as this paotere fish market. It's a good experience though. Happy exploring..
This is pretty chaotic over there. The amount of human there is really insane. Been to many markets in Jakarta and couldn't really compared to the intensity of Makassar crowd.
As an Indonesian, I can't stand going to a place like that, it's very crowded and dirty, and those of you who come from developed countries are able to face such a situation and enjoy it, salute 👏

Cause its almost similar... Ice glacier mountain peace full quite fresh air very clean the wildlife fishing king crab salmon the bear and the rangers hahaha... And Kings crab in side of harbour of juneau... But at last visit juneau has many changging... A little warmer...and more crowded... I Miss juneau when my first time visit ...arround 10 years ago... Everything is natural .. And the legend shop that I love to visit..."the Tongas" hahaha... That Shop is old....haha. So many memory in Alaska .. Playing soccer in sitka with the locals.. Chinese food in ketchikan... Mount meickenly...(hope pronunce right) National park... The tram... the glacier ... And alaskan beer.... Yeaaah...memory. Pasar Ikan is basically a wholesalers market, they sell in bulk to restaurants, hotel, caterers and retailers who in turn sells to neighborhood market. Buying 5 prawns? You should no better. And you and family became the attraction since no tourists come. You want to eat at a market go to Muara Karang Fish Market in Jakarta, but mind you, you share the aisle with big tuna, other fish.
If i may know, what time did you arrive there and what time did you finish your meal? So we can figure out the perfect time to go to the market (when the market not so packed)
We were definitely not expecting that large crowd! We arrived at the fish market around 9:00am. To avoid the same crowd, I might consider going sometime after 11:00am. In the end, it really was a lot of fun. :-)
Fr. Manila here......Filipino and Indonesian people same, same fish, same market scene, the food you eat same here..... Piece of advise, ... In a dense jostle of people like that don' t bring the kids, put your wallet on pant' s front pocket, be alert for pickpockets , come to the Phils and experience our similar mkt.
Fyi Nona is unmarried woman, while Ibu is woman who are married and mostly have kids because sometimes some woman in here doesn't wanna be called Ibu if they haven't had kids yet.
All of that actually almost double the normal price ( If u can bargain u can get half the price of the fish, the shrimp, the tuktuk. The restaurant i think they charge u a little bit expensive because u guys are tourist . Because with 100.000 rupiah normally include the fish . But its not scam, cuz we locals also get that price before we do the bargain)
Facts you should know! All basic prices except in Java, which are expensive there, will be 2x expensive compared to Java island is includes Jakarta,Bali,Jawa tengah/timur, Bandung,Tangerang.
