Just wanted to say I like watching you and learning new things I can't wait for my water land sunglasses come in a few days can't wait Thank you and keep fishing.
Koi are very lucky animals. Was introduced by the Chinese when they invaded Japan. The oldest Koi fossil can be dated back 20 Million years. An awesome ancient Asian legend surround the Golden Koi allow me to share. 🐉 📜 An ancient tale tells of a huge school of golden koi swimming upstream the Yellow River in China. Gaining strength by fighting against the current, the school glimmered as they swam together through the river. When they reached a waterfall at the end of the river, many of the koi turned back, letting the flow of the river carry them away. The remaining koi refused to give up. Leaping from the depths of the river, they attempted to reach the top of the waterfall to no avail. Their efforts caught the attention of local demons, who mocked their efforts and heightened the waterfall out of malice. After a hundred years of jumping, one koi finally reached the top of the waterfall. The gods recognized the koi for its perseverance and determination and turned it into a golden dragon, the image of power and strength. 📜 🐉 Because of the dragon legend, they are known as symbols of strength and perseverance, as seen in their determinative struggle upstream. And because of the lone koi that made it to the top of the waterfall, they are also known as symbols of a destiny fulfilled. Resulting from its bravery in swimming upstream, the koi is oftentimes associated with Samurai Warriors in Japan. Black koi represent masculinity. It also signifies a patriarchal role. Gold koi symbolize prosperity and wellbeing in business. Blue koi, often associated with the role of the son, represents tranquility. Red koi represent strength and power. It also is recognized as the matriarchal koi. In the spirit of this legend and them persevering thru the shipping process I think one of them should be named 🐉 Dragon 🐉. entirely up to you though.
seriously ? "The oldest Koi fossil can be dated back 20 Million years." - definitely NOT, there are NO KOI FOSSILS!!! Koi are a domestic colour breeds of karp, they are pets not a wild species!
@@gshaindrich The koi got their name around 500 B.C, but the fish itself has been around for much longer. Fossils of ancient koi date back 20 million years. NATURAL GENETIC MUTATION brought about the brilliant colors in koi known today, and NOT TILL the early 1800s did Japanese farmers began keeping them for aesthetics. So to say that colored Carp or as Japanese people like to call Carps (Koi) didn’t already exist in the wild before people breed them for their colors is incorrect sir. And not all Koi’s have bright colors. And can be dated back 20 million years. Ancient humans and modern day humans are very different and have evolved tremendously but if I found a skull that belonged to a homo erectus being, is it not a sub-species of homo Sapien still? ( And that’s using the assumption that they are different when they may very well be the same species of fish.) koistory.com/blog/koi-fish-meaning-and-myth www.giobelkoicenter.com/5-koi-fish-myths-transforming-into-a-dragon/
@@C..404 " The koi got their name around 500 B.C" - well so NO KOI before that an therefore there can´t be any fossils of koi. "Japanese people like to call Carps (Koi)" do you know that? or is that just an lazy abreviation of ~Westerners for nishikigoi? "already exist in the wild before people breed them for their colors is incorrect sir. And not all Koi’s have bright colors. And can be dated back 20 million years." - well prove me wrong an send me a link to an actual scientific paper that proves that! Otherwise that is just a dumb claim of yours, mistaking wrong information for actual facts. naturalised koi can obviously crossbreed with their wild form and then supposedly wild carp show vivid colouration. The Mutaion might have occured naturally (as most do) but bright colours are obviously NOT the carp colour that gets selected in nature! "Ancient humans and modern day humans are very different and have evolved tremendously" ... depends on what you count as "ancient humans" ... if they are humans than obviously the difference is no that big. BUT you seem to confuse technical evolution with biological evolution, suits your opinion so you can think you are, better and "more evolved" than we modern homo sapiens are from our close ancentors. "I found a skull that belonged to a homo erectus being, is it not a sub-species of homo Sapien still?" - that makes absolutely no sense, why would your finding thee thing change what it is? Homo erectus was clearly morphologically that much different from modern humans that scientist (you are obviously no one) described a different species. Doesn´t matter if you or I wouldn´t be able to tell the difference if we found the skull. Well maybe I could, modern humans have square instead of round eye sockets. true fact ... has nothing to do with tv or pc monitors. " "( And that’s using the assumption that they are different when they may very well be the same species of fish.) " - well you do not call a Chuhuahua a Wolf do you? so why arbitrarily switch between koi (pet) and koi (supposed japanese word even for wild carp)? While dometicated koi are still the same species (as mentioned above crossbreeding with wild) it doesn´t in any way justify using "koi" for any carp.
@@gshaindrich As far as I’m concerned I showed you 2 sources where both said that their fossil was over 20 M years old. Take it up with them buddy. Odd asking for scientific papers to prove a point and want links while you have no scientific links to prove your bullshit or disprove mine. Also for someone so pretending to be so smart, one would think that you would be smart enough to know that nobody likes learning from an asshole.
@@C..404 "As far as I’m concerned I showed you 2 sources" .. .well some random webpage, that doesn´t list any sources of its own can NOT be called a scientifically sound source! you have absolutely no idea and just copy false statements. The "bullshit" as you call is all in your head. If you would actually take the time research in actual scientific papers even your small mind would be able to learn something. Genetic studies show that gold fish and common carp diverged less than 12 million years ago ("Japanese Ornamental Koi Carp: Origin, Variation and Genetics" by de Kock et al, Genetic evolution and diversity of common carp Cyprinus carpio by Chistiakov and Voronova ... "Molecular phylogeny of three subspecies of common carp Cyprinus carpio, based on sequence analysis of cytochrome b and control region of mtDNA" by Zhou et al ... and many many more) and so called Koi are domesticated japanese strains of common carp (cyprinus carpio)... so again and again: there are NO KOI FOSSILS and nobody uses the word koi for all carp, definitely not the Japanese as you stupidly claim. Koi are against your fantasy domesticated in the 19th and 20th century. get a grip on yourself, stop spreading BS!
Koi and carp ARE the same thing Ones bred selectively to get the vibrant colors and there's many different carp species but koi are still basically carp, so are goldfish but a different subspecies from koi
Hey im about to have some koi that are at least 10 lbs if you would be interested. We are in the process of clearing out our small pond and are trying to figure out what to do with Koi that size.
pick up the container and weigh everything. remove the fish into the tank. weigh the basket and water and subtract that and your weight. less fish stress.
