Mid-Autumn Festival occurs on the 15th day of the 8th Lunar Month, therefore, its actual date changes every year but it is usually in September or October.
Today, we visit one of the only last stalls in Hong Kong that sell MADE IN HONG KONG HAND MADE LANTERNS for Mid-Autumn Festival. In the video, I've included a full clip of how to find the stall - they call it "Lantern Street" because the owner owns/rents the whole row of stalls.
Please note that past Mid-Autumn Festival, these lanterns are no longer available for purchase, so please check accordingly before proceeding.
LANTERN STREET INSIDE THE TAI KIU WET MARKET (YUEN LONG):
Ground Floor, 2 Kiu Lok Square, Yuen Long
Monday to Friday from 8am to 7pm
Take the MTR and get off at Long Ping Station, and Exit D. It's about a 5 minute walk to the wet market. The Lantern stall is located at Ground floor near the perimeter so if you walk the whole perimeter of the market, you'll find it for sure.
PRICE: The lanterns we bought (small to mid size) were about $60-$120 HKD ($10-$15 USD). I also recommend you purchasing the LED light with it ($5 HKD so $0.75 USD).

About HUMID WITH A CHANCE OF FISHBALLS TOURS:
“If you like our name, you’ll like our tours” is their motto.
Founded in late 2016, Humid with a Chance of Fishballs Tours is a small grassroots independent company that strives to offer authentic and off-the-beaten path tours so tourists and expats alike can get a taste and glimpse of true local life in Hong Kong.
As of February 1, 2019, they have amassed over 460 reviews on TripAdvisor with a 98% 5-star rating and are currently ranked #5 out of 202 companies for the Best Tours in Hong Kong.
We run tours in Hong Kong for people that truly want to see the real, true, local and authentic sides of Hong Kong. No, we are not like Mainland China and no, we don't eat bats, civets, and dogs - we can explain all that during the tour. The stories and information we want to share is about the hole-in-the-wall owners, and about the local foods that have so much history and importance to Hong Kong. We go into shops that don't speak a lick of English, because we bridge the gap between the West and the East. Eat through Hong Kong's heritage, culture and tradition with us!
