Here’s the difference between buckskin and bay: buckskin is basically bay, except with a cream dilution. ALSO a buckskin’s coat with most likely not change the black mane/ tail color, but instead of a natural bay it’ll have a more golden tint to it. Buckskin will also most likely have dapples. Although they both are from the same bay genes. Also, it is easy to see the confusion between bay and buckskin because it is only easier to see the difference if there is a double dilution. Although, the easiest way to tell the difference is because if a horse has a dorsal strip, they’re bay, otherwise, they’re buckskin. You’re welcome. 🙌🏻
Ava A buckskins only have a pseudo stripe if any. The dorsal stripe is characteristic of a dun. A simpler definition is a bay has more red tones, a buckskin has more yellow/cream tones, and a classic dun (bay with the dun gene) is more neutral tone with a dorsal stripe and leg barring.
Ava A a lot of people think that because of Spirit. A buckskin might have a dark, faint line, but only a dun can have a true dorsal stripe. That’s the easiest way to differentiate them. It is possible for a horse to carry both genes, but a regular buckskin cannot display the characteristics of a dun. The buckskin is the equivalent of a palomino, but instead of the cream gene on a chestnut it’s on a bay :)
Ava A duns and buckskins can be the exact same color actually. The best way to tell between a buckskin vs dun is the dorsal stripe. And the best way to tell between a sooty buskin and a bay is the tones. Red = most likely bay and yellow = most likely a sooty buckskin. Also sooty buckskins tend to have a dark to light color translation.

I had a large number of heated arguments about what colour the horse was prior to its release lmao. Safe to say I learned a lot about equine genetics! Here's why he's a _Sooty Buckskin_ : 1. "Buckskin occurs as a result of the cream dilution gene acting on a bay horse." (Notice how light the horse's flanks are? There's your cream dilution in action. Bays can have this- it's called _pangare_ but it's not as extensive and also lightens the legs). 2. "Buckskins should not be confused with dun horses, which have the dun dilution gene, not the cream gene. Duns always have defined primitive markings (shoulder blade stripes, dorsal stripe, zebra stripes on legs, webbing etc)." 3. "Sootiness is characterized by black or darker hairs mixed into a horse's coat, typically concentrated along the topline and less prevalent on the underparts." (This explains the lightness of its flanks). 4. "The most extensive expression of sooty produces a dark, often-dappled cast oriented down from the topline. Many horses with the sooty trait have a darker mask on the bony parts of the face." In my opinion, the quarter horses could be better. As much as I like the way they stop, they keep sliding. So if you press X because they is a wall in the way, a normal horse would stop, and you wouldn't hit the wall, but the AQH will keeling sliding and you'll crash into the wall. For this exact reason I've fallen off cliffs
i just had an idea. you know how you can hide people in the riding hall now? they should put the little eye when your in a horse buying like area so you can hide everyone or everyone exept your group club or friends
When I had to change my server this update...I couldn’t get back to Night Star...I almost cried because ofc I lost my club and friends. You know that’s just awesome when u lose your server !🥺 Also I hated it cause I saw you and Star in game during Christmas and well now I prob won’t see you again ! 😁😭 We love that !
