Congratulations one bit of advice, and you’ll find others that agree, don’t just buy ONE more truck- wait until you can put on TWO. It’s trucking and there are always problems if one goes down( and it will sometimes). One truck can’t support two but TWO can support THREE. It was my experience when I was owner operator. Again congratulations and I wish you success.
Congrats on your newborn. A new baby and a new truck. I new when I watched the video from a year ago when you had to spend 13k on your truck I could tell you felt frustrated and discouraged. I also told myself because of your good karma from the willingness to share and help others your win was coming. Here we are, witnessing your best day. Thanks again for sharing. Keep on inspiring through trucking and patenting. You the man. :)
You got extremely lucky with this truck from Ohio truck sales!! I have heard so many horror stories from other guys and even my experience of going there a couple of times trying to find a truck desperately and couldn't find one that was worthy enough for me to plop down $20,000 for the down payment.
Nice truck man, I’d definitely changes the steering wheel, get that gauge replaced put lights on the panels on the outside and do straight pipe stacks in the future
Good luck... 😂. Not going to blame the dealership because they obviously can't forsee issues that will arise but the two trucks we got were money pit piles of shit. Red and black w900... beautiful truck but a week after we got it home, it was pouring oil everywhere. Two months after we replaced the clapped out n14 with a reman, the frame cracked over the front spring hanger. By the third month the power divider and front diff were toast. The teal Peterbilt was the same shit, within 6 months the engine dropped liners and on and on. It was the worst year we have had with equipment, thankfully both trucks are long gone. Now we build our own "gliders" in the shop and don't have to worry about 25 yr old equipment to get around ELD and emissions. Again, not blaming OTS, they don't have a crystal ball and the trucks were solid when purchased.
That's like a slice if heaven 😋 its my dream truck as well like i think i would pass out i get approved for it as child this 379 and Cabovers were everything to me congratulations 🎊 👏
Congrats bro. It's also my dream truck. I've heard some good things and bad things about that place. I'll have to make a trip to Ohio to check out what they have 👍
I’m sure they do. They also have a lot of good trucks. The thing is they sell a LOT, and they sell a lot of OLD trucks with over a million miles on the chassis. They’re bound to sell some that might not be good. But when I was in, they were currently working with a customer who just bought from them but the turbo blew within a couple days and they worked with him to replace it. So they do try to help if it’s close enough to the time of purchase that something major might happen.
@@survivetothrive21 yeah I can see things like that happening, I’d probably buy new just cuz I’m not really Mechanically inclined, n I would need warranty. I wanna get a new w900 with 86 inch sleeper Cummins x10 605/2050 n lease on with the company I’m with pulling tri axel bulk tanker at 107,000.
My brother has two of their trucks they sold to customers that hes doing an inframe on. They claimed to have had overhauls done and they where done in correctly. The guys are now out 30k for the inframes. Both of them where purchased less than a month ago.
Congratulations hero thinking about upgrading my 85 359 I wad looking at that dealership I've heard mixed reviews keep us posted on things you find with the unit stay safe
We bought 2 back in 2017. No mechanical work is performed by the dealer beyond making the truck pass DOT inspection. Paint and chrome is their game, and honestly they are not to blame because they can't forsee problems with the truck a few months down the road. 2 trucks, 2 reman engines, both within 8 months of purchase, the one truck lasted a week on the road before pouring oil out of the block. Toasted power divider and rear diff, cracked frame over the spring hanger... all within 3 months. Sold both and won't do it twice.
We unfortunately lost our 2007 W9 3 weeks ago to head on collision. We have an opportunity to buy a 2004 Peterbilt 379 for only $42,000 430,000 miles . It’s been freshly repainted custom job it’s gorgeous. It’s also green and white on the outside a little bit different design but similar to the one that you wanted to buy that sold. The engine has been rebuilt. New tires too. The inside is pristine, and this is the cheapest price I’ve found for a truck like this. We’ve been looking for about a week now to buy one one, but it’s a beautiful truck so you would totally recommend this truck then? We’ve always been Kenworth people we can’t pass this by it’s a gorgeous truck for the money, and the engine is just perfect. Everything has checked out. May I ask how much u paid for this one? Be careful with hiring a driver it’s a huge risk for you. We have been owner operators for eight years. That’s why I went and got my license so that we didn’t have to pay a driver to drive the truck anymore and what do you know a year into driving and I get head on by some other idiot truck driver.
Best advice an owner-operator can have. Own one and drive it yourself or be a company and own a minimum of 11. One want handle two and two want handle three...
Make sure the overhaul paperwork is current and not past the warranty or you’ll find out how much an overhaul costs. They are smooth talking for suckers
Im happy for you driver hope you start making money soon be careful on the road like the driver that makes the smart video keep the rubber side down best wishes. Make more videos
If you bought it in Ohio I'll bet it looked great but a month later its in the shop and won't pass DOT inspection.. or costing you an arm an leg to keep it running..but l hope not. L hope you never have or get a problem popping up. Good luck with that.. I wish you the best of luck.. and safe traveling .. Ooo and congratulations on the new member to the family..
Thank you on video you did of yourself. Happy thoughts about new born baby girl. Sleepless nights coming up. I like the strobes on top of mirror. Better SAFTEY when stopped finding the entry to terminals. My Humble opinion. The 18 speed still love the gearing a trucker wants on hill clime with heavy Loads. Instead of automatic that so meany trucks are going to. I drive a 1500 gallon water Fire Tender. It's a Allison Automatic. I manually shift though the auto range when I drive it. I don't drive it RED lights and SIREN. I just do the drive around for storage from my home to central location at one of the fire station, for DRIVERS. When DNR needs it for wildland FIRE season. We contract it out to DNR with a F-450 brush fast attack rig. It shift's to higher rang to quick. I like manual shifting it, get the RPMs, up on the series 92 Detroit. That's just my driving style. Best wishes on your new business adventure.
Hey best of luck on the truck purchase. I was wondering with today's market is the list price the lowest price they will take. In other words the will they negotiate any???
Yes u can lot trucks at ohio the bondoe the and then paint it black Need oil sample tank sample to and from tank. Pull carpet up around kicker panels open dash up look for moisture corrosion burns Ohionl is crooked
$80,000!! You paid EIGHTY-THOUSAND DAMN DOLLARS??? WITH 13,000 DOWN, PLUS YOU FINANCED IT??? 2005 MODEL WITH OVER A MILLION MILES! AND ALMOST HALF A MILLION ON OVERHAUL!?? AND FROM OHIO TRUCK! PLEASE FOR GOD'S SAKE TELL ME THIS IS A JOKE. AND THAT YOU ARE PUNKING US?
Yes and no. The market is what it is right now, and I’d rather spend the money on an old truck with old trucks problems than on a new truck with emissions problems. Newer trucks that should only be 70k are selling for double that unfortunately. But don’t assume it wasn’t a calculated decision. I’ve gained a 50% subscriber count in merely a few days, so if nothing else it’ll make good content for my channel that people like you who think I’m a total idiot can watch and laugh at. 😉
Well, honestly I’m not looking for special treatment. But typically you only see the bad reviews. I figure it’s only fair to make a video about a good experience.
We were up there not that long ago. Their trucks look good from a distance but up close you can see they are junk. 5th wheels stay straight from lack of grease, wires hanging down everywhere, water leaks in around the windows. They do the absolute bare minimum to them to get them moved. I hope you dont have problems with yours but they sell trash.
I don’t disagree they have trucks that absolutely fit that description. But thankfully mine seemed to be pretty well cared for and maintained by the previous owner.
If you want an older pre emission truck, that’s about what you’re going to get anywhere. Your going to have to make repairs, and put some money into it to make it nice.
Congratulations on your newborn! Just a word of advice, whatever you spent on this overpriced truck you will be spending that same amount again on major repairs over the next 6 to 12 months not mention tons of down time with no income I understand your excitement but it will unfortunately be short lived. Good luck to you!
Oh trust me, I looked at plenty of dealers who’s equipment was worse. Lol. When you’re looking for old trucks like these, it’s just par for the course and you have to do your best due diligence in picking one.
@@survivetothrive21 Very cool. I love that flake and color. I think you made a good decision compared to the orange one... Odds are the orange pete was beat on by someone. U know..
I’ve been looking at truck here wondering how nice the trucks are, mind saying how much you spent I’m trying to get a idea on price range I should be looking at to get a decent truck
Right now the market is a bit out of control and I bought it knowing this full well, but I paid 80k for it. Gave 13k down. But it’s technically cheaper, per month, than my previous truck, so Im not worried about the payment.
@@survivetothrive21 nice I’m looking to spend under 100k, I’d rather buy a truck that will be worth money when the market drops back down. Good luck man truck is beautiful
They’re really not bad people to work with. My sales guy was Tim. I think he’s just now getting the sales manager position. You’ve just gotta go through the trucks carefully. Even the salesmen there will tell you the trucks they’d personally stay away from.
Yeah. That's my worry see it's gonna be my first truck. I thought it would take forever to get to that w900. But the way the market is right now. They are cheaper than even a freightliner.
That’s definitely true. But on the flip side of all this crap, when this crazy bubble bursts, these hood trucks like the W900 and 379/389 will be the ones continuing to hold their value the best.
They not bad just go over the truck well! If you have a mechanic or know your stuff would be great! I got a truck from them a few months ago(379) an when they say as is it's just that!
I'll never own another Pete. Way too much money for parts for no reason also the truck breaks more than other manufacturers in my opinion and I've had nothing but problems with Cummins. Detroit is the way to go ...you may dogpile me now but it's facts.
I bought my 2006 379 from Ohio truck center and they had disconnected the check engine light. She had active fault codes and I ended up paying another 15k because of blow by. Be careful bro I'm not impressed with them at all
@@dimab8753 ima be real 💯 I have spent my life as a company driver and ran a c-15 cat. She purred and never gave me a hint of trouble. When I made this purchase it was a cat acert. There was a lot of steam coming out of the oil pipe and me having a bad feeling but no experience in blow by or acert asked my salesmen Tim Honaker if that was cause for concern and his response was "no nothing is wrong with it that's how all these motors are (I'm assumed referring to acert) so I trusted him over myself. Am I at fault? Oh hell yeah I shouldn't have stepped into a shark tank bleeding, however this whole stand up great guys persona they're going for is false. 3 months later my engine has got the bottom end done and I'm on the move here and now and if I had to go back I'd probably do it again because I'm sentimental and now she'll always "be my first" so I wouldn't trade her for the world but could I have avoided some headache and heartache, stress and unnecessary bills? Oh yes. If you know your shit by all means step in but if they tell you they'll "take good care of you" be warned on the bright side I've learned a lot of it on the fly. 😂
@@jessejames8475 Acerts are twin turbos that's why they have much more blowby than single turbo. I got 06 C-15 Acert myself, 915k original miles and it got some blowby too but nothing to worried about, I hope. So you ended up doing inframe or just bottom end?
@@dimab8753 yeah these are all things I'm slowly getting acclimated to, I had Dan white of whites diesel do the bottom end because 150,000 miles prior she'd had the top done. Parts being harder to get we went with a 625 bottom so I got the option down the line to turn her up. I wanted to delete the acert out of her tho and get the single turbo conversion kit
Congratulations bro! Good looking rig. I just bought one a week ago. Was going through those guys but ended up going with one closer to my home in MS..I was looking online at the one you got and it was a serious contender 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
@@survivetothrive21 I’ve been binge watching your videos with OTS for about a week. What type of down payment should one expect on $65k, using their finance?
There seems to be a lot of “he said she said” hear say in here from people who’ve never actually bought from them. I can’t speak on every truck, but mine has verifiable paperwork for all the big ticket items such as the rebuild, rear differentials, and transmission. It’s in an envelope in the truck as we speak
