I see what you mean about the somewhat underwhelming sales service. You pay a premium for the Rolex boutique experience. She ought to be furnishing you with lots of information about the model you've chosen (even if you know it already) and generally be eager to please - a travel pouch at the very least. Nevertheless, fine choice. Wear it in good health.
totally agree. kind of disappointing to see that kind of service when spending almost 10 grand on a watch. I had the same feeling when I went to a Rolex store here where I live.
That green travel sleeve is actually a service pouch that you usually get with services some stores have them and some don't. Still doesn't give the excuse for that guy not being friendlier and helpful
Bro that was the worse service for buying such an expensive watch. She should have sat you down and offered you a drink may be you were hungry or some nice chocolates. I got brilliant service buying a far cheaper watch from Lumbers in Leicester, I finished the bowl of chocolates that were on my table. Well done to BabyKwan for puking in the shop, that shows what he thought of it lol. You offered some good advice afterwards.
Looking at this video in 2021 it's amazing to see all the watches available on display, who would've known we would be in a 2-5 year waiting list nowadays!
The cleaning cloth came with the older models. You got the new box which doesn't come with the cleaning cloth. The travel sleeve is what you get when you send your watch off for service.
from my understanding, the green rolex pouches are only given out at the service centers when you send the watch in for servicing or any other work such as polishing or a 'verification'. however the cleaning cloth should be included in the package. this should be reported to their management.
the travel case is given by Rolex when they send you back your watch after a servicing. When I sent in my watch and it was shipped back it came in a green Rolex travel pouch.
If you dont already know i think the green velvet pouch you was talking about is what Rolex use when they send your watch back to you after its been serviced you dont normally get one when you purchase a watch, even though i think you should after spending that much money i found even the boxes are not that great ive got a Longines watch which came in a nicer box and it was 1/5 of the price of my Rolex i think its something they really need to think about. ps you can pick a pouch up from ebay for around £15-25 Best Regards Danny ;-)
I have similar experience with buying Breitling in the UK. Some sellers just dont care. Next time Im buying a nice watch brand new, Im going to purchase it only if the seller is at least a little enthusiastic about watches and I know that I would enjoy the experience of the purchase itself. A very nice watch, btw, congrats!
Congrats on the purchase and i'm sorry you experience was not what you expected....... You should by a Breitling at a real boutique....... the most wonderful thing ever...... They put me in a different room that all other people in the store could see what was going on and they all knew that I was there to buy! They served us champagne and made me sign all the papers there while I was sitting on a couch. Great experience...... The green bag that you are talking about is the bag that you get when you send you watch in for service.... it will be returned in the green bag... that is where I got the ones I have. Again congrats.
I'd love to buy a Rolex via retailer for my 30th next year. I have a vintage Oyster Perpetual Date ref 1550 from the 70's (15k gold and champagne dial). As well as a Tudor Oyster Prince Date from the same era (silver bezel and stainless steel) and a Tudor Monarch 80's/90's. That's the Rolex/Tudor side of my watch collection.
They stopped giving out a cleaning cloth a few years ago, the pouch you get when you get it back from the rolex service center. Congrats on the new watch.
Congrats on your first Rolex - the Datejust with a smooth bezel is a great entry level piece. I bought the 41mm, blue face, fluted bezel, as my first. Nothing like a reminder on your wrist of the success one can build with passion, hard work and loving others!
Very true it's a great feeling isn't it looking down at that crown. Thank you for commenting. Please do join the channel if you enjoyed the video. #SUBSCRIBE :-)
Congratulations on your purchase of the Rolex Oyster Perpetual 39, its nice to see people buying something other than the Submariner. You purchased what some might call an entry level watch, however I and those that respect watches for the fine precision timepieces they are, would say you purchased a "classic" timepiece, one that can be worn with casual attire or with a tuxedo. A suggestion for any future videos...people often like to know the month/year of when items were purchased and to see what the item cost, this is to see if they can obtain the same or a better deal for themselves when they go to buy.
My Air-King came with a tiny polishing cloth and thats all. The green pouch you are talking about only comes when you have had your watch serviced, Here in Canada they don't keep them in the store as its a service item. I know a lot of people get upset with it not being a fancy wooden box but heck, its a box. I would rather it come in a plain box and the money be spent on increased quality of the watch! I thought I hear 5 years mentioned. If that was in regard to servicing be aware that yours will be under the new servicing intervals which are now ten years. I got my Air-King three years ago and checked with my dealer and mine comes under the 10 year service interval as well which is great! Wear it in the best of health. A lot of people knock Rolex but they are usually the people who have never owned one. It took years of hard work to get mine and I would not be without it!
I was considering an air King before this came along. Thank you for watching and commenting. Hope to see you around on my channel again. Peace & Blessings.
Thank you. I love the dial on yours. Is it the Rodium finish? I'm also a Brit living abroad. Been in Canada since 1999 but am looking forward to moving back home soon. All the best to you and your family.
Congratulations on your purchase :) I just bought my first Rolex (Datejust II with 18crt White Gold Bezel and Blue Dial)..... it's such a co-incidence that my son is also one year old when we bought my watch.... he was crawling around the Rolex shop in just his nappy LOL, as it is soooooo hot in Penang where we bought it. My purchase experience was similar to yours...... where there was no fan-fare, special room or champane (just room temp water provided) and that was it, very much a normal retail experience....... I got 2 Cleaning Cloths (not Rolex branded) and a "Swiss Army" type Nail Clipper in a "Leather pouch". That being said, I walked in with a T-Shirt, Shorts and Slippers (not prepared to buy a Rolex), so didn't look like I was going in for a big purchase. LOL
Congratulations. That's an excellent choice. Yeah both our babies same age at the time of buying. :-) thank you for watching and commenting. Do join the channel as I'll be posting more videos. #Subscribe :-)) see you soon.
What i really respect and admire about you is you worked hard for what you buy everything earned nothing given. thats motivation. respect. love the vlogs also.
One of the best videos and congrats for the purchase of the new Rolex, you did the right choice of purchase this model. I'm sure that you will enjoy it so much !!!!
Congrats! Awesome watch! by the way, the green felt pouch is given out by the Rolex Service Centers, so something to look forward to in 10 years when you service it!
My older Rolex came with a cleaning cloth, but neither my new GMT nor my new Daytona came with one. Also the "pouches" are not something dealers just give away. They have to buy them from the manufacturer and are usually saved for "high end" models. I have two of them but I'm a "repeat offender" where I buy my watches. Good vid. thanks for sharing!!
I like how you have a good blend there. The Seiko is not on the same level as your other watches but you keep it in there and looks like you still respect - good stuff.
I'm unsure abt the travel pouch. but I think the cleaning cloth is no longer provided ever since rolex started the 5 yr warranty with the green tag.. they will provide the transportation box(transparent) upon request. if u don't say anything they wont provide.. hmmm I think some ADs will provide catalogs and calendars IIRC
Emkwan can now officially say "They see me Rolin" :-D very happy you finally got your dream watch buddy, congrats on getting it and hope you enjoy it, you have my blessings too :) It looks fantastic buddy and I'm sure it will give many years of service. I think baby Kwan was heading to the counter to try on his own new Rolex. I can understand Ms. Beelahs feelings on the matter as when you buy something of that caliber you expect some extras, even if it's full hands on from the staff, especially since they didn't seem that busy. Haha I think BabyKwan felt the same lol. The thing is Rolex carries a very well known household brand name that we all have heard of.That kit looks fantastic, I look forward to the video for that. Great vlog buddy, really enjoyed it :)
Glad I've got your blessings too! Lol yeah it was such a sad experience in the sense you get better service in Asda! Lol it's all good tho. I have the watch and feel great. Thanks for continuing to support by watching the videos and commenting. Appreciate it mate.
I purchased my submariner in Leeds (UK) Rolex dealership and was given a glass of champagne whilst just trying the watch on, before the actual purchase! it's unfortunate this isn't a worldwide introduction to this famous brand.
if you're going to make a first rolex purchase I would have gone for the Submariner or Daytona (my first purchase), these two models retain it's value better.
Ahhh thanks for that I was told by a few people after that experience. But to be honest, it would be nice for AD's to throw it in if asked. Nice small gesture.
Love your watch a real classic almost retro in the look ! hope you enjoy it Iam sure you will !! can't believe Baby so big already my youngest of 4 was eighteen this week !!!! God bless keep up the Blogs
Hi, great video. Now that you've had the watch for a about a week, would you buy it again? Did you ever consider an explorer I? I contemplating both but can't decide.
I recently saw an exp 1 and to be honest it made me question my purchase. The reason I went for this over the explorer is the fact I wanted something different. Something that in a few years would represent my style better than the black and silver 'normality' of an explorer 1. I've also got the AP with a black dial so didn't want another watch similar to that. Also considering this is closer to the original OP that would have gone up Mount Everest... With the same calibre movement inside as the exp1 for less money I think is a great deal. Also one final point: comparing them both side to side... The OP 114300 looks visually larger than the exp1 even tho they're same size.
when I got my new Omega Planet Ocean in '08 no cleaning cloth also..no idea why not as they are always included. I got the proper cloth on ebay for reasonable cost.
"Cause in America it's brand new..." - Wait... they are selling you a used Rolex?... And the pouches you get when the watch is serviced. The store in the UK you went to probably had a trade-in/used program and they had extra pouches from getting the watches shipped back in from their RSC. Very nice choice by the way! On the watch at least. The service in that shop was shit...
Congratulations on your Oyster Perpetual. In Australia, the Rolex's that we purchase do not come with the Rolex cleaning cloth, either, which is disappointing. The pouch, I believe, is provided to the customer upon the return of the watch after Servicing of it. Unfortunately, the sales service provided by Authorised Dealers can be very disappointing.
It's the Oyster Perpetual 39 mm, positioned on the bottom of the range of Rolex line. If you would have bought a more expensive model, perhaps you would have right to travel pack. I almost don't buy new retail, anyway. AP Royal Oak is known for poor reliability in some calibers 'though. Congratulations for your new Rolex. Your Orient and Seiko SKX 007 are great value for money timepieces.
I love your pep talks 13:50 . It was short but motivating :). I have noticed you have such a optimistic look on life and i suggest you please consider doing a future vlog on success and just talking about your resilience inshallah! cheers
Congrats on the watch! Rolex has canceled the cleaning cloth for all their models sold 2015 and the pouch you were referring to in the store, is actually a service pouch. The store you went to didn't really look like they could perform any service apart from selling watches, which could explain what you experienced. Wear your new timepiece in good health! :-)
many people who are wealthy shop in Rolex its nothing new for staff, but in my view your watch looks great i would pick the same model and its the only Rolex you would ever need, it can be passed on to your son in future, so its worth it, Rolex its not just a watch its a piece to be passed on to future generations.
Agree. :-). Thanks for the kind comment. If you haven't already do consider subscribing to the channel. Look forward to seeing you again on the channel.
Rolex comes with a small cleaning cloth, but really you won't use it but should keep it, the box and papers in case you want to sell it later or pass on when your child is older. Usually the watch shops give a travel case and cleaning cloth, the non-Rolex ones, so you can use it without recking the original stuff. The travel case/cloth given is usually branded the company name of the particular Rolex AD. Next time you go into a watch shop, just ask. Usually they are nice and will give a kit to you. Too many shops/choices out there. Nice buy. Enjoy!
On the other end of the scale, I went to a Rolex dealer today and sat at a leather bound desk, in an armchair, where 2 beautiful women took me through the whole range of the new 39mm OP's. I drank filtered coffee from a china cup. I felt very uncomfortable and hated the experience. I didn't buy anything.
Congratulations on your first Rolex. If you want to keep the side of your case looking scratch free for longer, place the timepiece on it's crown when you take it off. This way you're not placing your polished case on a hard surface. Cheers.
I hate to say it, but that Rolex worker did about as good of a job as any cheap kiosk salesperson does here in rural Tennessee. She didn't know the product or how to delight the customer. It really shows you have to do your homework before purchasing. Congratulations on your new Rolex! I know it is three months old now.
Lovely vid, I love how u guys went for doughnuts first, lol. I'm not a Rolex fan, but I was quite interested in that box at the end. Plz do review that one day. Thanks
Congratulations on the watch! It's a milestone watch that you will remember forever and inshallah one day pass on to your babykwan! I even felt the lack of service through the video by the manager who was just sat there on his phone and was no help at all! So not surprised you guys were not happy with the service . I think you should complain just a general feedback to them so they improve for next time. Congratulations again as msbeelah said u deserve it !
Apparently it's a norm for Rolex here based on what ive read and heard others say. Oh well. Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment. Do hit that subscribe button :-))
Good purchase dude. You can't go wrong with Rolex. I understand your feelings about the purchase being uneventful. Get used to it. I've bought a total of 4 brand new models over the past 10 years and nothings changed regarding that "buying experience". The extra "swag" you were looking for like the travel pouch and a polishing cloth is really just hit-and-miss between Rolex dealerships. Some have them, some don't, some HAD them and ran out.
Thanks for dropping by! Yeah. I've been told post this video the same from many others about the Rolex experience. Hahahhaha wish I'd vlogged my AP experience. Very different. Anyway thanks once again. Hope to see you on the channel some more.
Bought my rolex sub ND in singapore last month. I didn't managed to get discount but managed to get the tax back plus currency exchange is good. That customer service is really bad man Did they offer you drinks or something while they're sizing the watch? I managed to get a free rolex credit card holder, travel case and microfibre cloth plus a bodyguard on the way out. Lol
I would have thought service was through the roof in UA, I've experienced awesome, enthusiastic and knowledgeable service, and drinks when you sit down and talk, in the boutique Klarlund in Copenhagen. Bless 💜 😊
Hey, your review was very helpful, but I realized how much I use a date function and ended up getting a submariner. If Rolex releases a datejust with the same case as the 114300, I will definitely pick one up. Do you have thoughts or experiences with AP or Zenith? Thanks!
Awww that's a good point. Good choice on the sub. No experience with the Zenith tho I own an AP Royal Oak offshore diver. Nice watch. Stunning pedigree and history. Just costly to maintain long term with servicing and repair costs should anything go wrong.
Why didn't you buy the expensive gold and silver submariner, you always get the travel pouch, I got everything with mine including good discount, just because you buy a rolex don't expect to be treated like a king plus all your pals will think it's fake
+EMKWAN TV - vlogs from Abu Dhabi & Dubai, Mabrook brother. Beautiful watch indeed, I personally would not have made the purchase seeing that level of service. But I know you had ordered that specific dial; on the plus side like you said you got a good deal on the price. Tk care, & In-sha-allah you will reach 15,000 subs.
+Najeeb Khan I agree, the service should feel different from a luxury dealer and not just another watch store. Unless Rolex did something new to their references, no way this watch comes without a cleaning cloth. And if it is indeed lost, this is a brand new reference, released at this year's Baselworld, that watch has been in their inventory probably about 2 months. Maybe Rolex forgot to include it when packaging? Anyway, congrats on the watch and wear in good health!
I would be choosing that AP over your new rolex everyday all day..when you people who no about watches clock that offshore AP the respect levels go up a couple of notches
Congrats on your purchase! I totally agree with the level of service you're speaking about... You would think you would be treated like a Premium Client when purchasing a high end watch.... Pretty sad they can't even throw in a cleaning cloth wow! Lol.. You could even see and hear how you were treated... Well, either way at least you got what you came for..
+EMKWAN TV - vlogs from Abu Dhabi & Dubai I have a all gold date just a airking passed on from my dad with a white gold and diamond bezel, a gold Corum admirals cup, a custom watch that's a 1925 gold coin split in half with a winding watch placed in the inside, a brand new tag heuer aqua racer Quartz and that's it for now lol I bought a few of the pieces with money from my business
Curious on final percentage discount you were able to get? My local Rolex dealer isn't budging much. They are the only AD near me so I suspect that is why. Thinking of calling ADs in other states where there are multiple ADs. I think they may be willing to negotiate. Thanks for the videos. Keep them coming please. Beautiful family. God Bless.
