Visited Babcock Ranch in February. Looked at 3 or 4 sample/ model homes. DR Horton, Lennar. The houses aren't going anywhere, built with filled concrete block and cement roof tiles. The rest of the home is terrible construction quality. Bad drywall finishing, entry door is closed but can see light coming in at the top. Cheapest windows. I cannot unsee all these defects.
Stick with toll brothers, Taylor Morrison, Neal or divosta. There are errors in a lot of construction but getting the builder with the least amount of errors is key. We didnt look at the lower tier builders. We looked at MI homes because they are in northern Virginia.
I recently looked at homes being built and already built in Naples fl. Wow! Could not believe the price tag and the poor quality of the fit and finish. No way would I ever pay for such a poor construction in high end neighborhoods. Really, why are people paying these prices for such terrible/low quality. I’m still searching for the right home for the right price. Next adventure is Sarasota, Bradenton and Parrish. I’m truly hoping to find some better quality. Anyone have any suggestions???
These houses have no architectural details. They are cheaply built and look like boxes. I see them on the internet all the time and I pass right by them. They have no personality and look just like everyone else,'s on the street. None of them our break all the way around on four sides. They are made of the cheapest materials possible and I have heard horror stories about people who could never get their house is finished. These people had put down a lot of money. I believe them to be total a sores and think that they bring down a neighborhood when placed in areas somewhere nice homes exist. I would not spend my money on such a cheaply built home.
My comments on custom home. Many large homes are laid out in a manner to allow a large family or a family hosting a party. There are multiple areas outside the line of sight of other areas. This allows separate areas for the adult men, adult women, older children and younger children, or separate boys and girls. The open design is better for care of parent with dementia. From some spot in the main room, you have line of sight to most other areas: bedroom, kitchen or bathroom. For frail elderly, or mobility handicapped, flat no stairs is best. It is almost impossible to find a house without steps at the front or garage door. Is full wheelchair access required? Bathtubs are difficult and potentially dangerous for elderly. Are you able to lift the person out of the bathtub? Older showers may have a low rise wall, but narrow bar to seal the door. An elderly person may not be able to completely step over this, causing a risk of fall. In my area, there is only one house available designed for elderly. All one floor, no steps except the front door (room for ramp), wide doors for wheelchair or lift chairs. no step into shower (natural slant on floor for drainage.
First, I would like to say that people should be extremely careful about buying right now. People need to measure the risk of buying at all time high prices with rising interest rates. New construction homes are supposed to be less expensive than already existing homes. These homebuilders are sitting on a lot of inventory nationwide, so don't be tricked by the fact they have basically stopped building in high price areas such as Tampa and Sarasota just to make it seem like inventory is low and then charge high prices for that. BEWARE (not "be aware")
Katrina we are going to visit your area to see if we like it and would like to meet you. We are wondering if there are any non HOA new construction homes in the area ? Thanks so much.
