@@hossel_ Linus is literally the CEO of his company LMG , He can decide to lift the one binding them to LMG . As a small size company it is likely nearly his sole decision , and if he wants he can take others opinion under advisement in his thinking. I am sure there is some NDA agreement there just like they had rules against streaming .
@@-Good4Y0u yeah, I'm not saying there isn't, but that's not what I'm talking about. Companies give embargos to reviewers and media to not speak about a product until a certain date, or in rare cases if something goes south, at all. That's what I was talking about. They probably know a good few industry secrets that are under NDA, but not one Linus can lift.
@@thesteelrodent1796 If it's someone at least a little bit knowledgeable they'd have a parking page on it, or enable their registrars parking feature. But those often don't contain contact details either. It's true though that many do not have any DNS records attached at all.
I used to live next door to a lodge and they used to pet my cat on their way in. Now I have Free Mason connections. Its an enduring condition but I manage it with cream and medication.
Cool story. You know what's not cool though? Sitting on a pile of domains and doing nothing with them, not even selling. Not every potential buyer would go through this trouble of finding a way to contact an owner.
Literally this. Sounded like the person had no interest in any amount of money, wouldn’t even let the talks get that far. Literally just owning things so other people can’t. Then forcing them to do an ass-backwards “favour” just to sell it at “cost” anyway. Didn’t get the impression the owner was like “Well my son is actually a huge fan of yours, how about instead of me selling you the domain, could you guys do something special for my son?”. Knowing a few free masons, this all checks out.
Seems more like he didn't have a clue he had them? The way luke said going through family trees seemed like a relative had them and they got inherited?
If I was the kid, I would have asked for LTT and the Free Masons to do a collab video for PC builds for the secret society w/ free parts provided by "Insert Brand" and then have LTT plug the Free Masons in the description box.
So many Freemasons that are fans, but the Freemason thing does not really enter into it. It’s business, he wanted to get his son some tickets as he was a fan, any business minded person would go the same route.
@@SirDamatoIII Technically that's not true. At first the request was some kind of business partnership, second up was entertain our son who is a fan, but the parting line was basically "Okay our son is/isn't entertained, but not sufficiently so, so give us 10K". That's beyond business, its outright hoodwinking. Who owns dbrand?
@@drumboarder1 idk, his dad seemed like he wanted to do something nice for the kid, didn't really get any bad father vibes. you could say "oh he is not in his life anymore" but still the blame can be placed on the mother who is currently living in one of that guys houses with seeming sole custody of the kid (probably more due to the scuffed court system in the us and not any wrongdoing of the dude).
I suspect it's not even that but the location. There are areas in the US where people (usually only where you can live if you're upper-middle class or up) are so severely sheltered and never leave because everywhere else is scary that they end up with some truly bizarre beliefs.
@@oldfrend I think a taxi is a more accurate predecessor to uber, which really is just a freelancer taxi network. But yes, renting a car is a good option if you're staying somewhere for a short while (although parking in large cities can get expensive and/or frustrating).
Imagine being a viewer/fan of Linus and having to live with the fact that your mom basically acted like a Karen to Linus when you got to meet him which was also because your dad forced him to sponsor you a trip to LTX!
this was wild from the start to the end. i am embarassed for this family, they have lost touch with reality. i understand asking the question of 'how do you go around, could you guide me or let me know what to look out for', considering they probably thought you guys were taking care of the trip, but framing is the key here.
wrt the 7:19 comment about Uber, this may have not been the case, but the way Linus phrased it makes him sound like a major dick. If someone asked me "You don't have Uber in your city? How do I get around?", I would recommend local taxi apps or phone numbers. But Linus sounded like "You're stupid, figure it out yourself".
@@martir.7653 its true that it can go both ways, but the mom should have known about the existence of "buses" / local taxis, maybe even for local trains / subway if they have such a thing over there. essentially, they should have researched about the place they were going to, and mom should be old enough at least, to know how to get around. i think this is more of a case of the mom just thinking "everything is being taken care of / paid for by this linux distro or mason husband, so why do i have to know a single thing or take care of anything" basically, i think it's a case of linus wanting to do the least possible in hosting them, ofc he would for the expo (that sounded like the agreement), but not before and after, and these folks expecting "oh he is paying for the flight and everything, why not just push everything on them, why do i have to use my brain? i expect a car, be it an uber or someone you arrange, you take care of all my needs, i wouldn't look into anything myself" that's why i said framing the question of how do i get around is the important part here, which i suppose is born from the mindset both parties (likely) had.
Man, as someone who's been in the domain business for over a couple decades, this is definitely one of the wildest stories I've heard for a domain haha. Never have I heard someone showing up to someone's door.
This type of person, wealthy to the point of incompetence, upsets me to no end. They have all the advantages possible and just squander it in stupidity.
This is an amazing story, but I feel bad for the "kid"... The mom is probably the culprit of the entire situation, the divorce or whatever, not even wanting to let her son enjoy his time doing something he enjoys, unlike the dad, even if he didn't want to bother helping our with the domain, his heart seems in the right place. - But then the mom messes things up... I cringe thinking about that situation... There just seems to be a lot of tension between the three of them all around, not relaxed about anything at all.
That's sadly how it usually goes, since women generally get the child custody in a divorce. As long as the mom isn't particularly shitty (with receipts et all) then they'll get the children. She seems kinda selfish, so it might've been a main cause for the divorce, although of course the dad also seems rather peculiar.
Stop psychoanalyzing an entire family's personalities, history, and dynamics from a single second-hand story from someone you have never met you armchair Reddit psychologist. I cringe thinking about this situation...
Yeah sure. But who was there in Vancouver with the son? Not the father. Stop pretending you know anything about them because of some 3rd hand anekdote.
This is a great clip, its actually pretty educational as well to show your job at companies can sometimes loop into unusual workflows and objectives like this. Its not always 9-5 daily paperwork grinds, vague and hard to tackle objectives like this can pop up and its a good opportunity to figure out how to solve them.
I'm surprised nobody has actually called them their name.. Its the illuminati. Not the fake theoretical "This celeb is illuminati" non-sense, but the REAL illuminati which are less powerful than weird theories make it seem, but still a secret society that does hold some power (or did at one point). Technically the freemasons and illuminati are 2 separate groups but their history is intertwined and for basic purposes, you can call them one in the same. They have a pretty interesting history, you should look into it.
As a freemason myself, I find this history hilarious and pretty "accurate." And it would be quite nice if Linus randomly showed up at my door, specially if I could ask for some tech tips
@@ronaldojoe3011, it's a fraternal order/organization with members all around the world. Since it started as a secret order and lots of its members were prominent historical figures involved in a lot of big events, it got quite a reputation in the conspiracy theories circles. Sooo... people usually imagine illuminati and grand schemes. In reality, we are just a bunch of normal people discussing about life and trying to be better citizens. Sadly, as Linus jokes in the video, lots of people join the order only for status and connections, so there is this stereotype of rich and obnoxious members, which to be fair, is quite accurate for the most part.
@@pablovieira6905 Hey man, can I ask you some polite/genuine questions? I knew a freemason, though I'm no expert, & assure you these questions are not loaded. I used to work with a guy who basically sorted nuts and bolts for assembly lines who was a freemason, and also a magistrate. FTR I don't think his noxious, unsociable personality or mega ego at being a magistrate/frailty at everything else was something very befitting of becoming a magistrate, at all, but that's just my opinion. 1. Would you say he was more than likely a magistrate (on an otherwise low income job), because of his of his masonry involvement? The interesting part is that another guy worked there and knew a fair amount and would wind him up asking questions. The freemason guy would always outright refuse to discuss any genuine questions regarding any aspect of the freemasons, other than "you have to believe in a god, and I cant discuss further"; but would gladly and immediately deny anything pertaining to ill will/act of conspiracy, on any level. 2. So, was he under oath of secrecy? And if so, how could he reveal... secrets... but only if it was to deny? I always found that interesting. You mention people joining to make connections, often being good people, and there being some who were seemingly opposites and maybe unsettling to you. 3. So did you ever come across people or hear of things that outright disturbed you? Maybe people joining not for connections or business, but perhaps because they outright believed the things people speculated, and wanted to be a part of that. Maybe make the dark trade of the soul everybody's always been warned about; regardless of wether that was even on the table or not? 4. I've seen a lot of hollywood celebs doing symbolism such as the hand over one eye, finger over the lips, ring around the eye, all that kind of stuff. Not typical gestures when me and my friends/family take photos. Is that because they're in, and actively signalling? Is that why they're in Hollywood? I saw the masons at the Royal Albert Hall event on yt, and at first I thought the centre stage pyramid with the all seeing eye was irony, until I realised the symbolism was simply very much on public display, and there was definitely no sarcastic irony at play. 5. You mentioned big events with historical freemason figures being involved; how it started as a secret society, and how it is hence actively discussed in conspiracy theory circles. Does that make it conspiracy or theory? Does the "theory" part not become somewhat null? I notice you don't deny whether those events = conspiracy, just that they are discussed. I also notice that you said it started as a secret society, but also never continued it does not continue to be so. Is it still a secret society? I'm genuinely just curious, from the bits I've seen/heard. I don't want to come across like some kind of inquisitor who is leading you down a path to call you out or anything. And yeah, I rambled a lot. Apologies. Not every day you can expect to ask somebody about their life in an organisation, when its all so muddied. Thanks.
Id absolutely love to know who deleted the reply where he agreed to answer my questions, just an hour back. Its in my notifications, but certainly not in here!
how STUPID must you be to think that almost every westerner knows a floatplane is a plane that does NOT have wheels and lands and takes off on water instead of land
@@zahidshabir4038 actually I always thought they were saying “flow plane” or something like that as I’ve literally never heard of the domain except some of these videos.

to be fair the mother lived in a time before uber which is telling how incompetent more wealthy people can be. Like I know people who just stopped going out to buy groceries entirely because of uber eats, door dash, and such which kind of blows my mind (this is pre pandemic mind you). It's good practice to keep a pallets worth of non perishables stashed away for emergencies.
“how are we supposed to get there?” Lol uber become what it is now, less than 10years ago, how did she get around then 🤔 rent a car, take a taxi, or take a bus like most people that can’t afford a car lmao Linus is right on it being a dumb conversation 😂
I love Linus just casually not listening at the beginning. Like a solid three minutes of conversation and then Linus like…repeats the same info back lol
Not forwarding the emails to her ex-husband, the whole Uber situation, just leaving while her son is enjoying his time, and finally the tickets' prices, Someone is clearly the bad guy here.
Love your little Masonic conspiracy, we need to change our song! "Who keeps the LTT website down, WE DO! WE DO!" I think float plane could be something really cool in vr or just that it’s entertainment floating through the air about the tech “plane of existence” or something. Could be a cool sci fi graphic
I would have just seized the domain name instead of paying few 1000 for the domain. After all contact info on the domain name was wrong and the fact it was parked for years on end without being used.
Basically the dad got the money he wanted and he snagged a one time opportunity to let his son visit linus' offices and LTX. The mom kinda soured the situation, but then again from her perspective this is might be some weird thing her ex husband that she doesn't get along with set-up that now she has to participate in. And I have no clue how their custody is set-up. Over-all? W dad move tho. Cared about his son's interests and took the opportunity to try and get him a cool experience. I hope to be able to do something similar if I ever have kids. Altho preferably you'd go with your kid yourself if you set it up so you can just let him do his thing and actually make use of the full time period they had planned for him.
The dad was a chill guy. He asked to further the carrier of his son, that's what my dad would have done. He tried to help his son with his future and the son was a fan of the channel so it was a win-win. I hope you guys hire the kid when he grows up a little. I am not going to comment about the mom, i will leave that to the rest of the comments.
No, what's crappy is a punch of leeches buying up every dictionary word, adding zero value to the domain and then trying to rip people off that just want to buy a domain so they can start a business that actually employs people and makes products and pays taxes and contributes to society. They are worse than ticket scalpers and GPU scalpers. Domain squatters are parasites. In Australia you're not even allowed to park .AU domains and you have to actually have a use for them and even if you try to get around those checks if someone actually has a right to your domain they can just take it from you unless you have a good reason as to why you should be allowed to keep it. $10,000 isn't a lot for LTT, but for a starting business that amount of money is just not practical when you can buy alternatives for $20 a year.
