I have a black 04 745li. I get alot of compliments on it. Even though it has multiple electronic issues on the dash etc it still drives fast and strong.
Exactly why I'm looking into getting one! An absolute bargain for a powerful, beautiful car! Idc if there's a few electronic issues causing some of the luxury features to not work. As long as the engine, transmission, brake system and steering are good then I'm sold!
I've driven the E65 730d almost a year ago and despite being a two decades old model fell in love with it's driving dynamics and performance and planning to purchase one in the near future 😃
I used to hate e65, until I bought one. It is amazing. And I prefer the original pre facelift design. It is sure expensive to maintain, but it is a 20 year old luxury sedan, so if anybody buys it now and expects not to spend money on it, he is crazy.
@@DFWAuto_Hack a lot of people hate this car because the internet has told them to. And I was one of the people who fell under the same influence, until I had the chance to experience the car myself and realize what an extraordinary machine it is.
@@DFWAuto_Hack transmission is a thing to be cautious about here that's for sure. I had problems with mine because of a clueless mechanic who messed up a mechatronic service. I'd say that if the car is under 200.000 km , the transmission will be fine. After that mark problems may arise either with torque converter or the mechatronic. These cars are not that complicated to service but only if you know what you are doing))) I mostly did all the stuff on my own, but to service the engine/transmission you'll sure need an experienced mechanic, because it is really easy to mess things up in these cars. An e65 for 1500$ may be a bit of a gamble if you ask me))) I bought my e65 for 8000$ back in the day and owned it for about 5 years. It was my daily and it has never let me down. Hopefully you'll get a great e65 too)))
i drove my e65 nearly 60000 KM so far, only things expect for maintence parts i changhed was: throttle housing, and the glowplug sensor ( just in case, while i was changhing glow plugs, ) it costed alot money nearly 700 euros to get it fixed but its a relatively low cost since i had the car for nearly 5 years, and the other maintence is mainly done by myself.
Just bought an 2003 745Li yesterday (18th), will be detailed and delivered today for a birthday present from my wife. It was crammed in a warehouse and was unable to be driven, + had a flat dead battery. Couldn’t be jumped. Noticed an open recall from 2010, and of course will have a full service done by the local dealer. Want to be able to use my iPhone Bluetooth for calling, navigation, and music. Is this doable? Car has no manual or service records, but did do a carfax, and it seems ok. Thanks
My e66 735li 2002 cranking but no start,no gear appear, obd can't connect, possible ivm bad?what I do chect the ignition no firing and injector no pulse,,should replace the ivm?
Hi, i owned a facelifted e66 v8 2006 750li, i ve been driving it for few years alrd and this issue keep happening but it never actually cause any real problem so i kinda ignore it, but it still annoy me and im not sure what cause the issue , hope u can help me out. I live in VietNam South East Asian country , the traffic here is quite slow so most the time i drive with speed under 30 miles/hour. This issue only happen after i start the engine and drive for 10-15 minus, and it mostly happen when i start driving uphill and slowly accelerate from around 25 miles/ h to 35 miles/h and that is when the car start a series of vibration/ shaking that i feel like it come from under/below the car. The vibration/shaking come in waves, it vibrating for like 2 seconds and then stop for like 0.5 sec and then vibrate again 2 secs and repeat few times. When i almost reach the top of the hill , it stop. I really confuse about this and its been happening for years and no mechanic in my city can actually figured out the issue correctly. Please help me out on this , thank u so much.
Any comments on 2005 e65 735i ? I'm looking at one with documented 50 000 kms and single owner since new. Would be grateful for any advice. Thanks guys.
We bought a bmw 735 I Japan bmw 2003 We live in Aruba and having work done on a right side is harder then expected. But we love the car and need to do work. It’s idling off and drives off until it’s warmed up. I have some codes that came up when I had the engine read. Oxygen sensor bank 1 & 2 also throttle body position sensor and dsc malfunction. If I change those would that improve the vehicle. Also would getting an air filter and oil filter help as well. We just bought the car and I’m not a Machanic but do have a a bit of knowledge to do myself. Your thoughts ?
Im gonna take a guess but you probably need that cats replaced that's why you're getting the o2 sensor code. Cleaning the throttle body will help with the rough idle, you might need to replace the sensor. Also if you ever had water leak inside, thats one of the main problems that gives error codes for many sensor and modules located in the dash and on floor
looking at a 2007 730d here, as its the most affordable and reliable model, will it suffer the same nightmarish electrical problems as the V8s or not as the M57 is built like a tank?
Love these cars especially since you can get them for around five grand now! I've got a BlueDriver scan tool and always check for codes after a test drive just in case the owner had just cleared them! I am particularly interested in the 745i, but it sounds like you believe it has the most issues of the E65s? Would you recommend spending a bit more to get a 750i?
chris bangle is the unappreciated ian callum of bmw, and i think the looks better than the f and g chassis 7s. i think itll be the next collector 7 too. i also think r231 are going to go crazy in 20 or 30 years too
Totally agree there, it was ahead of its time and over the years I start to appreciate it more and more. The current 7 series is just plain ugly and I think it will never be of any sentimental value. E38 is still a timeless beauty.
:Have a 2002 735i It had some issues which had to be fixed. Tip : crankcase ventilation tubes and vents. Change all if not done recently. High crankcase pressure made it leak oil everywhere but now clean and tight. Also check air mass flow sensor and small vacuum tube off the side of the plastic intake tube just before entering the intake on engine itself. If it leaks , it gives errors...... Besides all this - if you can smell oil in the exhaust or see blue smoke now and then - it could very well be the valve stem seals - big job , so dont buy that car . Also watch out if coolant fluid "disapperars". Stay away. But besides these things ( the valve stem and coolant problem I did not have ) - The car is fantastic to drive and a keeper. Mine has the dynamic drive suspension system , the big logic 7 sound system which is awesome , heated seats front and back plus cooling and massage in front. And everything works.
@@norojulaolahovci6759 fuel consumption should be about 1.1 litre per 100km on long trips. In the city , expect more than 1,5 litre per 100 km. ( edited , 10km of course ) Be aware of some oil consumption , this is normal . ( probably 0,5 litre in 1000 km ) Have the car thoroughly checked with a dealer computer for electronic errors , alarms and so on . Check for all oil leaks at dealer . If the car is all ok , then high mileage should not be a problem. Best of luck .
Other than that I have no problems with the engine but the person who I bought the car from with her son of a b**** they were not mentioned in the car so now I have to do all the maintenance but it runs beautiful
Which model do you have? I got to fix a misfire on my '07 760li. It's the V12 so gotta figure out which cylinder is misfiring! LMAO. Needs an alignment too. These are nice cars though. They age pretty well.
@@AustinRides7264hey I know it’s been 2 years but did you ever fix the misfire and which one it was??? I currently own a v8 2008 and cylinder 4 is misfiring. And did your car remove any codes/lights after fixing it?🤔
E65 BMW I'm having a problem with it is jerking when I'm driving off and when I'm slowing there and I don't understand what's good and nobody can't find the problem maybe you could help me
Yes this is probably one of the best, most reliable engines in this vehicle, but it will be weak in power for sure. 231Hp on that body is not that much
I just purchased a late 2006 730d with only 55k miles. Will check the swirl flaps. It’s in mint commas comes with full history. It’s a beautiful drive. Anything I need to look out for. I have just purchased an autophix 7910 diagnostic tool. Would appreciate any comments.
@@sethiphotography thanks for your answer are The facelift Models after 2007 ? Thanks a Lot will think about it Overall The Car Looks sick also from inside
@@bashjan4801 The facelift version to me is totally beautiful as it fixed that ugly back and they fixed a lot of expensive problems that the pre facelift had. The facelift was made from 2005 to 2009 hope i helped you whatever you do don't buy the pre facelift ;)).
My 2006 750Li won't start. I don't hear the fuel pump hum when I put the key in the ignition. Fuse look good. Does anyone know why the car won't start but it will turn over when I try to start it.

If you make $70-100k a year and don't daily one, they're fine. Nice joy ride. BMW makes really nice cars. I had a VW Passat with the 2.0T and loved it. German cars are great but yes, expensive to maintain and fix. Best not to put a lot of miles on or finance new under warranty.
Only get one as a second car one day if you can afford to pay cash. I bought a 2007 bmw 760li with the V12 for $5k with 97k miles. And I can tell you it probably would be a money pit. Maybe the V8 models less so? But still expensive. Get a hybrid for your daily and buy a nice luxury car like this for the weekend 😊
@@AustinRides7264 im trying to decide what car i wanna get im personally not a gas mileage person it doesn’t bother me i want something with power but also reliable
@@d3m0niccity16 maybe look into a used Hyundai genesis. You can get one with a 4.6 V8 that has 375 horsepower for cheap. They're VERY reliable. I had a 2012 Hyundai Genesis 5.0 and loved it. 429 horsepower so it moved! They're a lot cheaper to own than a BMW. I always wondered what it was like to own a BMW so I splurged on a cheap Craigslist one. I probably won't keep it but I see why people drive em. 😂 They're really nice luxury cars with performance. Maybe look for a higher mileage lexus too like a GS430. Super reliable V8 with solid performance. Like 6 seconds or less to 60 and it's got Toyota reliability.
Could be carbon build up on intake valves. Get it walnut blasted. But problem could be injectors, or coils or even the ELECTRICS in the engine bay. VVT Module or IVM module. It's a nightmare. You need deep pockets to run one of these. Most mechanic run like hell. Too complicated. However, you can learn a lot from RU-vid and not waste money unnecessarily. Good luck. 🤞
