Something I think you didn't mention that I think might be helpful to some people: The numbers on the strings are the same as on dmc strings. So if you for example use colour charts that refer to DMC numbers you can use the Aliexpress colour of the same number as they are the same :)
In my experience using mostly aliexpress string for the last 3 years, the string isn't all the same. There are some colors that for some reason are slightly thicker or thinner than all the others, they make slightly smaller/bigger knots and if you look really closely you can definitely see that, they stand out. Also they seem to have changed the dye on a lot of colors in the last six months or so, as I just reordered a bunch of favorites and half of them were slightly different shade than the ones of the same number that I've been getting for 3 years. A couple straight up went neon when they used to be just a average shade.
After buy strings bulk-online I have never wanted to go back to DMC! DMC seems ruff and uncomfortable and expensive now :') The only negative is not getting to pick the colours, but since there are so many in a pack it is not a big issue. When I do buy string I try to get at least 2 lots from the same listing, that I usually get 2 of every colour.
You can pick colors! Many of the stores sell in sets of 10 and you're supposed to pick one color but if you leave a message while ordering them which colors you actually like and what quantity they will totally send that! I've done that many times. Just have to make sure that it comes to 10 skeins total, or 20/30 etc. if you buy more than one set from one listing.
Alot of those 100+ packs on all those websites have coordinating #s to dmc floss if you need another pf the same color just might be a different texture
Where i live string in normal stores costs so little that i dont even think that ordering through amazon could be cheaper. Like the cheaper string (still great but the colours are more dull) costs 30 cents a piece and the DMC ones cost like 80 cents
Thank you for this! The soft one might be acrylic , I find they are quite slippery and the knot size is different than cotton. So not good for mixing with cotton in a bracelet but work well all together and the colors stay vibrant longer I think.
How do you know what qualifies as real embroidery floss? I am interested in buying some cheap strings, and wouldn't mind different brands. Concerned about string thickness and how to determine that
The last batch of the variegated threads was a lot more expensive than all the others, wasn't it? I've been wanting to get it but every time I looked at it it was a tad bit too expensive. But I mean it might not be expensive to everyone, but there's a significant difference in price between that last batch and the solid color one, isn't there?
Unrelated but you said that you have an issue of prism string snapping. That’s also a big issue that I have which is why I don’t ever use it for detailed bracelets or reccomend it.

Having now had time to watch the video properly: the solid color string is identical from every seller even if the labels are different. I personally like it better than embroidery floss as I don't like how easily embroidery floss separates. They're not cotton so maybe that's why they're so soft, I don't know much about this kind of stuff. It also doesn't tend to hurt the skin on your fingers the way embroidery floss does so that's also good. Because it's not cotton if you were to dye the white strings the dye washes right off, maybe 10% of it actually stays on the string. The tiedye ones are much worse quality than the solid ones imo. The variegated string is super pretty but I had bad experience with that store as I had ordered 2 sets of 6 skein each and they literally only sent me one of each color and never refunded me or sent me the remaining strings :/ And those were a lot more expensive than any other threads on aliexpress so I was a little mad about that. Also in my experience up until 2 or 3 months ago everything was taking 2 full months to arrive but now it's been like 1-3 weeks, which is awesome haha
Could you please do slower step by step tutorials of your bracelets please. Experienced makers can fast forward through if necessary. I find them very confusing ❤️
Tbh, its really surprising to see a bracelet maker saying "I don't need this string" "I'm never gonna use this" Whenever I am shopping string I'm like ready to buy the whole store lol 😅
