When a community comes together to make a dream happen for a young dreamer. We are so fortunate to grow up in Iowa and see how the locals still take care of each other. We didn't dream of owning a farm until this miracle happened. If we can encourage young farmers to follow after their parents we will. We were not encouraged to farm in the 80's but we see the value today. Helping the small farmers survive is vital to our heartland. ANF!

My Granfather died when my father was 6 he was the eldest of 3 kids. My grandmother kept our small mountain farm going .... today we own 260 acres of excellent land in Ireland where the average size farm is 80 acres ... we milk 160 holsteins. I'm proud of my father and grandmother and proud to be a farmer ... my son loves it he's only 9 but wants to be a farmer 1 day.... Best of luck with your journey..!

It is a blessing just hoping the new tax plan scratches the step up basis on inheriting land. My goal was to use this farm and my third equity to buy my brother out when my dad passes down the road. If the stepped up basis gets implemented we will have to pay too much in taxes and the farm wont cash flow forcing us to sell both our land and my dads. Praying.

My family destroyed the land flatland, it was a farm my grandmother told me I would get it, at this point there so greedy they want to sell it, I wish I can have it and turn it back to what she always wanted a fully functional farm. Miss her and hope she blesses me with the money to buy it or to inherit it

Could you please explain the financials of a regenerative farm to me or for that matter a normal corn soybean farm? If the answer is no I think suggesting that he do regenerative ag is out of your expertise… he bought the farm let him farm it the way he pleases … btw it’s America if you think regenerative ag is gonna save the world do your part and go buy a farm and see how easy regenerative ag is…

My grandpas got a small farm I’m currently 15 learned to drive a combine at 11 and the farm spilt up between his sisters and I’m wanting to farm and hopefully get the land and equipment from them

@@braydeneaton1297 You know, most grandparents and parents that had to farm through the 80's pushed their kids away. I think this video is where I said just that and that is one reason I am not a farmer today. Sad really because I would love to be a farmer but I am too old to try and get started. Just tell him how passionate you are to be a farmer and if college is what he tells you to do, go in to agriculture in school. Iowa State is a great school for that. My dad went there and was a super successful small farmer. Ask for his advice with that job being a farmer and how you can get to the point to farm that land and maybe someday own it. Then take it. Show him you are serious but don't give up on that dream and help him or whomever is farming it as much as possible.
