Buzludzha Monument - communist conference center in Bulgaria 

I think this is one of the most incredible buildings in the world. It should be maintained!

Built in the 70's and finished in 1981. Should be restored. I hope you guys did not break anything.

I visited this place when I lived in Bulgaria. Pretty cool, but it looks like its been vandalized a lot since then. There was a bunch of red velvet covering the walls in the entry room, and the actual conference room up top was cleaner. I thought there was a mosaic on the floor in the middle of the bleachers when I went too.

That would have been pulled down in UK on Health and Safety grounds. It needs saving , restoring and making into a tourist attraction. We waste money on new statues and pieces of useless art, this was a piece of recent history that had effects far reaching than the Eastern Bloc. Hope it gets saved

Sorry ,your information from your friend from england ,is not correct , Buzludja was build in the seventies and opened in 1981 and costed 1,4 Miljon Leva at that time ,made bij many soldiers and many artists that made the mozaieks. there are total of 6 faces in the mozaïek from Todor Zjivfkov , Marl Marx, Lenin, Georgi Dimitrov The communist party ,removed the head from Todor Zjivkov in 1990

Sorry Man! I didn't wanted to hurt your feelings. I am not an expert or historian. Anyway in general I think that socialism was not that bad in its core assumptions. The so called "democracy" far awy from ideal. I mean hidden and powerfull people ruled this world. There is no balance anymore and no obvious enemy.
