Here's a fun fact. In that opening scene, Buzz was originally meant to fly around an area based on the island and dry river from A Bug's Life. But the floating rocks in the scene was actually caused by an accident. John liked the rocks and they decided to keep them in the final movie.

@@crsproductions2003 Yeah, it does. Sometimes, making mistakes or errors can actually result in cool looking things, this same thing happened with a creature from Minecraft.

I wonder, why are the animation passes (and a few of the layout passes) marked with March 2000 dates, when TS2 released in November '99?

Probably when it was screen-recorded for this DVD feature. Whereas most of layout already had a recording they just spliced out of a layout edit of the movie. Likely they didn’t do this for all shots, or for animation, as it might have had shots cut before the final film, so a newer recording was needed. Just my personal guess.

It would be cool if the one at 8:42 appeared on a late 1998 Disney video and at the beginning, this would happen: Buzz: Hi, I'm Buzz Lightyear. Don't tell Disney, here's an unfinished scene from Toy Story 2. Now, it's a work in progress, so I don't want anyone asking stupid questions like "Hey, what happened to the color?" Please enjoy. And at the end: Coming Only To Theaters Thanksgiving 1999
