This is a video from our canoe trip to the Boundary Waters in Northern Minnesota. Alan Hanson and I spent 10 days paddling, portaging, exploring, fishing and photographing... it was a great trip!
As always, we had a variety of weather and experiences.
Come along with us as we relive our trip... 10 days in 15 minutes!

Another wonderful video! Again your one of the very few who's video's I really enjoy watching and listening to. Your music choices really fit well. Thanks for putting this out and also, I remember these lakes and the camp sites you were at from a trip a few years ago. It is a nice part of the B W.

Donald, thanks for watching and feedback! This was the 3rd time I had been through the area, I agree it is nice, plus fairly easy to access. My only gripe was how busy Horseshoe was... both leaving and returning, we took the last site on Horseshoe.

Thanks for watching and commenting Mark! We were surprised how full Horseshoe was both going in and coming out... maybe better this year with reduced quotas. Have a great trip!

Magnificent, stupendous, majestic…(where’s my Thesaurus when I really need it!) The color, composition, variety of content, editing, speed of transition, background music - these are all just perfect. Thank you for creating beauty with your photography and for sharing it with others.

Thanks Mike, wow, I couldn't ask for a nicer comment... sounds like maybe I wrote it myself ;-) But seriously, the Boundary Waters is such a special place, with beauty nearly everywhere I look. I hope to get up there at least a couple times again in 2024!

That was really beautiful. I love your photography. In this strange world we have been living in I was wondering if you were alright, I missed that one you posted six months ago. and thought it had been about a year since you posted anything. Glad to see you're still canoe trippin.

Thanks Kirk, I really appreciate your comments! Also thanks for your concern... it sure has been a strange year, I feel blessed to have been able to get in 2 trips in 2020 and possibly 3 in 2021.

I really love your photography. You make some great videos with the shots you take. How did you get the instrumental music for Jerrys songs? I have all his music but nothing instrumental.
@HamerNaturePhotos
@HamerNaturePhotos 3 года назад
Thanks for watching and commenting Donald! 'In the Rain' came directly from the 'Every Scratch Tells a Story' CD. The 'Wabikimi' and The Spirit of Fishdance Lake' instrumental versions may have come from Jerry directly, by request... I forget for sure. One thing I do know, his music adds a lot of feeling to a Boundary Waters slide show!

@@HamerNaturePhotos yes it does. I had the pleasure of spending 4 days on the Current River in MO with Jerry and Caitlin his fiddle player a few weeks ago. It was a great week. I was supposed to go to the Boundary Waters with him in August but had to back out because on my wife illness. We are going to try again next year. Keep up the great video work. I really enjoy it.

@HamerNaturePhotos

Thanks! Fewest bugs ever for a spring trip... no skeeters and some black flies but they weren't biting (much). Weather was all over the place... highest high was 85 and the lowest low was 29. Swivel chari is great!

What a difference between your 1st and 2nd sites. I've been on both. #1's a bit crowded, #2; spacious. Nice trip, great photos (as always). Thanks for taking us along!
@HamerNaturePhotos
@HamerNaturePhotos 3 года назад
Thanks Larry! The site on Horseshoe was the last one open on the lake, both times! I agree it's rather small but had it's own out-of-the-way charm.
@nibimocs
@nibimocs 3 года назад
@@HamerNaturePhotos I've stayed on that site twice. The first time there were 4 of us in 2 tents. Awfully crowded. To top things off, it was a wet & snowy trip in early October so tarps were necessary. Very crowded. The 2nd time, I was solo. On that trip, I was able to appreciate its "out-of-the-way charm". At least there were only 2 of you on this trip. That made it more manageable than it would have been with your usual crew.

@@HamerNaturePhotos we were there two weeks later under the same circumstances (crowded). What did you think about the latrine path?
@HamerNaturePhotos
@HamerNaturePhotos 3 года назад
@@raykasal7969 You mean the steep trail (site in SE corner of Horseshoe) where you need climbing gear to go up? Ok, that's a bit of an exageration but I'm glad I didn't have to make a quick trip up there in the dark :-)

@@HamerNaturePhotos Hi Gary, Yes we did have a nice trip. We went all the way into Gaskin on Day 1, camping on the island on the NW side of the lake. Horseshoe was full, and so was most of Gaskin. We stayed there 3 days, mainly because days 2 and 3 were quite windy. Day 4 we came back and stayed on Caribou the last night, where we had a great view of the lake with a family of 5 bald eagles flying overhead. Overall, a very relaxing trip with more time for reading than usual.
@HamerNaturePhotos
@HamerNaturePhotos 3 года назад
@@garyschneider7203 Sounds like a good trip! It seems Horseshoe is a destination for many people, hence overcrowding... I wonder if the FS needs to reduce permits? Last week we were on Pipe and Homer Lakes and had lots of wind too... it really limited our fishing. The bald eagle family sounds really cool!

Beautifully done! Thank you for sharing. I enjoy watching your trip report videos for the excellent photography, relaxing music, and detailed information about your activities. Looks like you avoided the worst of the wind storm that put the widow-maker down in between your stay on the 1st and 5th sites. Again, thank you for sharing.

Thanks for watching and the kind comments! The wind storm wasn't huge by historic standards, but it was enough to take down some weak trees ... glad we weren't on the water while it was blowing!
