Snetterton Renewable Energy Plant is a biomass-fired power plant in UK, which is primarily fired with straw from local suppliers, and has a capacity of 44.2 MWe. The production is equivalent to the energy consumption of 82,000 households and will result in a yearly CO2 reduction of 300,000 tons. The power plant obtained the Taking Over Certificate in April 2017.

The most impressive thing is for me the downwards greenhouses so that the warm water comes gravitationally to the greenhouses, without big electricity expenses.

Is there any ash left after burning the straw? If there is what do you do with it? JWB farm services bought me here.

As with other renewable fuel types, there will be ash after the burning. In some cases, if there is a governmental approval, it is used as fertiliser on the fields.

Only ash or is any charcoal/biochar produced? These types of plants should make it a goal to produce charcoal/biochar in the process. Farm sells the plant the straw, picks up the char, activates it with the proper nutrients or manures, produces more grain and straw (using less water and added nutrients because of the biochar ) and completes the cycle while improving the soil and environment!!

It can be processed as charcoal briquette used for cooking barbeque instead of using wood charcoal..

The fact that you did not cover the further step of disposing of the resultant biochar, (which would be a substantial amount in this example system) tells me there is a hidden expense that by mentioning biochar would negate the seemingly too good to be true benefit to your energy production. After all--- the 82,000 benefitted homes' inhabitants have to pay for you to sequester all that carbon waste, which puts their electric rates the same as their previous source. Your business model is incomplete. Biochar utilization can be a profitable and environmentally responsible commodity...
