@@esfirross6800 your words from a addict of Sokolov but not from a aficionado of music imho /// at such a height class of performers, speech should be conducted taking into account for name composers and/or their individual works
Yes, thanks for list of times. This sonata is a terrific discovery for me -- JSB fan since hearing the Matthew Passion in high school 55 yrs ago. Never ran across BWV965 before. And now for me Sokolov ranks right at top with Gould.
Absolutely STUNNING. I had no idea. Beyond flawless. Been listening to Bach's music for over forty years, but THIS is something beyond. AND, as the music went along, I gradually became aware of the bird singing in the background. PERFECT!! Thank You So Much for sharing this!
Nearly every keyboard piece of Bach’s that I hear, is my favorite. This one, however, is my favorite favorite… until, perhaps, the next one of his, I hear.
Blessed are we to have to the opportunity to listen to Gregory Lipmanovich Sokolov play his wonderful interpretation of Bach’s incredible music. It surely has to be the next best thing to hearing Bach himself playing his own music. Something the World will never again hear, alas those precious notes have fallen silent, but Bach lives on.
Grigory Sokolov=THE TITAN OF THE PIANO!! THE GIANT OF THE PIANO THE!! Grigory Sokolov his Chopin piano concerto no 2!! Brahms piano concerto no 2!! Mozart piano concerto no 24! Saint-Saens piano concerto no 2!! AFTER Grigory Sokolov played These concertos then All The others PIANISTS ARE REALLY ONLY THE DUST ZEROS!!
Whilst cooking up a bubble & Squeak I had this playing in the background, the music began to catch my ear.Well it's now fully in the foreground & what a wonderful pianist Sokolov is.

Who says there isn't a God? This sheer genius talent displayed by Sokolov and the unfathomable and heavenly music created by Bach could only go hand in hand with the brilliance and the God of creation...
Queenie...I say there isn't a God. Genius and talent exist as many other things do, separate from any divine or diabolical interventions into earthly matters.
Alex Reik Thank you for you comment and of course you are completely entitled to your beliefs, but personally I can’t see how genius and creativity can be brought about if we just sprang up like fish out if water with no intelligent being involved. As DNA demonstrates, their is a very intelligent being that is responsible for this. Something doesn’t come from nothing. Just my belief. Thanks for reading.
Maestro Sokolov is moving the keys telepathically without having to move his fingers as demonstrated in this video, this is the skill you'd eventually gain when you play the piano for over 50 years at sublime level.
Grigory Sokolov=THE TITAN OF THE PIANO!! THE GIANT OF THE PIANO!! Grigory Sokolov his Chopin piano concerto no 2! Brahms piano concerto no 2! Mozart piano concerto no 24!
So Reincke lived to a great age, knew Buxtehude and Lubeck, was often in Hamburg; and when Bach played to him remarked, 'I had thought that this art was dead'. a very, 'blessed are those who have not seen and yet believe' moment.
The Big Question here for me is - How does he do it? (!) How can ANY Human Being - limited as we are - do what Grigory Sokolov does wth a piano? When I think of the Top Tier of pianists in the world I do not include Grigory Sokolov. In my mind, there is Grigory Sokolov, and then there is Everybody Else. He is truly in a Class by himself.
this is a wrong question - how mr. Sokolow does it - its a matter of just repetitiveness and utmost musicality. The right question is how, on the earth, mr. Bach did it....
@@excelsior999 I admire mr. Sokolow. Been each year on his concerts in Warsaw. He has an incredible touch. His last concert in Warsaw started with incredible 2 partita , when piano sounded like harpsichord, just to switch to most romantic sound possible in second part with Mozart. Reg....
Watch videos which show him at the piano playing Mozart or earlier -- there used to be a vid of him playing thru a movt of Bach's Italian Concerto just informally, not in a concert. You learn a lot by watching his hands. But ultimately I think the secret is his intense musicality--ornaments are always fresh and different, never routine.
