Abandoned & Forgotten Places
Documenting abandoned mines like never before!
Let's take abandoned mine exploring to the next level!
With your support you can help make this the best abandoned mine exploring channel on RU-vid!
Shot entirely in 4K! ...so, turn up those video settings!
On this channel we go deep... REALLY DEEP into abandoned mines and tunnels all throughout the western United States. We researched some of the harder to find mines and hiked or 4x4 back into them to explore and reveal their hidden secrets. Many of these remote locations are filled with cool artifacts, antiques and unique geology that will have you guessing as to why the old prospectors worked so hard to find gold, silver, and other minerals.
A&FP moves just a bit slower as compared to other mine exploring channels. Gly discusses why the miners chose these sites and he points out the geology and minerals that got them excited. Veins of quartz filled with gold and silver made many men lose sleep in the 1800’s and early 1900’s and modern prospecting still does to this very day.
DANGERS? Oh yes, there’s allot of dangers associated with old mines. Un-exploded dynamite, blasting caps, bad air, bats, spiders, and snakes all find their home in abandoned mine shafts and tunnels. Oh, and let’s not forget rotting timbers, flooded passages and collapsing rock!
Gly takes abandoned mine exploring seriously with all the proper safety equipment, training, and experience necessary to do this activity as safe as possible but that doesn’t mean we can’t have a bit of fun along the way. “Gly”, your host and his band of crazy characters “Old Bob” (Gly’s Jeep), “Quackers” (Gly’s duck) and “Bobbie” (Gly’s hula girl) are sure to brighten your day with their comments and silly antics. Heck, they may even give you a chuckle or two.
Just like Saturday morning cartoons before the internet was invented, Abandoned and Forgotten Places uploads each Saturday at 7:00AM PST. (that’s 10:00AM for you eastern folks) so don’t forget to click that subscribe button and bell icon to receive notifications of new episodes!
Please LIKE, SHARE, SUBSCRIBE and COMMENT! All these things help grow our channel and your financial support helps us find new locations and helps put fuel into “Old Bobs” tank. Old Bob, thanks you!
Ok, now for the ugly stuff...
WARNING
Abandoned mines and ruined structures have many hazards and can severely injure or even kill you. Do not attempt to copy or re-enact situations or scenarios seen in this video. Stay Out and Stay Alive: • Gly Says... STAY OUT S...

Hands-down one of the scariest mines we've seen - I don't think I could have done it! Great job, Gly, and thanks for taking us with you! We love the geology and history comments, too - it's why we watch you and not other channels, where people who are clueless just wander around old mines, unaware of the danger or the geology, and not caring about the history!

So glad I got to watch this again but this time at home in 1440p quality. Insane. I can't believe the amount of blue and green and yellow and white and timbering work. Imagine if they had any desire to process copper deposits. So much of rhat gobbing and "waste rock" would have been processed and we wouldn't have been able to see it littering the walls, floors, all though the mine inside and out, its breathtaking.

Good morning Gly . I can just picture you in that rental car looking for the source of the “ Bin Ladin Sandal’s “ smell and finding an air freshener hanging from Inside rear view mirror in the shape of some old Sandals with initials “ B. L.” on them….😆. And yeah , we got rained on making our own trip to visit friends up in Payson Arizona while driving over from San Diego. Pretty epic storm front that moved south to north that really tore things up . Stay safe & as always “ Thanks for all you share with us “ 😎👍
@AbandonedandForgottenPlaces

These videos are absolutely amazing and what Gly, and others do to bring them us is incredible... but I just, still cannot believe the effort, the time and money that was spent by miners to do this on minimal return on effort and investment. I just try and think of what inspiration goes thru the minds of these people that they keep digging and building to the end. And its not one of two, it is THOUSANDS that end up with basically nothing to show for it.

No matter how many times I see this mine, it still freaks me out as to how flippin' dangerous it really is! I wouldn't be surprised at all if this mine was totally collapsed today. The millions of tons of rock weighing down on the support beams is so much that it's both a testament as to how much support wood can give but in this case it's so barely holding back that massive amount of rock, that What "Gly" said that all it would take is a small earthquake completely merge the wood stulls with the rock of that mountain.
@AbandonedandForgottenPlaces
“Gly”: When it lets loose it’s gonna be a cascading event. One section will let loose, triggering another and then another until the entire stope collapses. You’d never be recovered if you were in there when that happens.

Good morning,,,Gly,,thank you for the overview on Old Bob.😊. Gly u should take Laura to see this one unless she has already. What a wonderful cathedral workmanship of wood this skilled miners had constructed. I d forgotten how much fun and euthanasia you had for this mine. Thanks for the reminiscing 😊
@AbandonedandForgottenPlaces
“Gly”: I’m not sure if I want temp fate twice with this mine because it’s right on the verge of a massive collapse. We will be exploring other mines in the same are next spring though.

Sucks about the Jeep, I put the third 4.0 in my daughter's Grand Cherokee last summer. The truck has just over 470k miles and the original 4.0 lasted until 260k. I just buy a junkyard motor that I can hear run and do a compression/leakdown test on for 5 or 6 hundred bucks and stuff it in over a weekend, I've had good luck so far with 100k put on the last one. I bought a rebuilt trans and did that after the original engine lost the rings in 2 cylinders, 2nd gear was slipping in and out so I had to. Rebuilt the T-case with my daughter and she did that swap herself, I just handed her tools, lol. It's money in the bank with the cost of new cars and trucks these days, costs 400 a yr. for insurance and just keeps on going. Love the cave explores, here in the Northeast it's possible, but I'll leave that stuff to you, lol.

I guess perception is everything. That 10 inch beam being under that much pressure. It looks to me like being there is the equivalent of walking through a mine field. No pun intended.

Love your work, man. I have a habit of putting these on whilst doing some chores, but they're most fascinating for sure

Nice secque/chat. Again, love your intro music. Lined ore shutes, wow! thats something! (@13:15). Superlative construction in this mine, making it strong and safe for the miners. Boy! you really go thru the contortions for an " interesting explore". That is some impressive gobbing along these stopes/35:54. More lined ore shutes! @41:56. fun?!, your expression must come from the"adrenolin rush."..ha. along with the goosebumps. In your mind I think you were patting your back with accolades of "making it" thru there......as you should. Good explore, fantastic video....thank you.

I wish I could go a few million years into the future and see what kinds of deposits end up filling in the huge cavities in these old mines over the eons
