By Far the BEST Safe Scrap Farming, No Skills / BPs Required with New Fishing Meta in Rust 

Bro, just trying this out right now.. This is badass, I'm currently on a 5x so it's pointless however we use these servers to learn and try ideas where the consequences if it doesn't work are minimal to our wipe. But to do this on a vanilla or 2x server would be awresome way to start.. Super safe too with the base in the water means your very unlikely to get into any early game pvp grubbing.. Hot tip would be early on to pick up a boat and use the animal fat to craft low grade so you can run back and forth to fishing village in relative safety..

Roughly 3 days playing as a solo to get every BP in the game with little to no risk. Just getting the worthwhile BP's takes a couple of hours and if your main base gets raided you can fall back on the fishing base to get a new tier 3 quickly, a couple of guns from bandit and you are back in it. Absolutely amazing!

I have been using this for months now. But I have never thought of using the salmons as bait since you also get decent scrap (55) for 2 salmons. I average about 1600-1700 scrap an hour so I will try to convert the salmons into sharks and see if it's faster or not.

*Key Info* In order to catch small sharks at sea, you must fish in * deep blue water *. When you look at the map, there are 3 tones of sea: light blue [shore], medium blue [sea] and dark blue [deep ocean]. You can * only * catch small sharks [and salmon] in deep waters [hence how you can catch them in underwater labs]. So be mindful of where you build as sometimes fishing villages can spawn in pretty shallow waters - where the best fish you'll be able to catch [no matter bait level] is Small trout. So if your fishing hole isn't working / you're not catching them: this is why. Cariad fawr o Gymru - Much love from Wales

You are missing some points in your video, like you can't catch the same fish twice in a row, you can use this to manipulate the catchrate of sharks even more, by swapping out fishbait eachtime you catch a salmon with trouts, that way you are 100% getting either a trout or a shark. you can do the same with salmons. it might seem minor, but it all adds up to alot of scrap/h spend.

As a solo, I usually build a boat base as close to fishing village as I can to get my BPs and loot the ocean. I notice sometimes at fishing village the water is not deep enough at the end of the dock. You can tell it isn’t deep enough if aren’t catching a trout, shark or salmon even with lvl 10 bait. This base is a great idea because it’s just as safe as fishing village, faster and guarantees the water depth for catching sharks. Might have to try this out!

Just wanted to let you know that me and my friends decided to build this base to try getting all bps by just finishing during a wipe. It went so well we had this base fully hqm/metal and it even survived an online. I made some modifications but honestly you can easily live out of this base.

U can make a 1x1 with a triangle. Cast the bobber in the corner of the triangle. Way less room for the fish to run. Also don't need to be 5 walls deep, anywhere u see fish swimming is shark and salmon water. Shallow water doesn't have fish in the water. The land dips off pretty steep sometimes close to shore. I fish all time and never thought to use the whole salmon as extra bait to get more shark. I guess if I am guaranteed another level 10 bait fish so might as well.

I actually sell my Salmon, as I find it less time consuming to do that than just gut them or re-use them for bait. The fishing meta is great for solos though, I got enough for a tier 3 in less than an hour of just sitting at fishing village.

This base design is really good!, does anyone has an issue where when you throw the bait sometimes (maybe half the time) it disappears and you lose 1 bait?

I do this at bandit with catfish and salmon (no trout there), with around 1500 s/hr. Theres 2 spots next to the barge where you dont have to turn at all

Did the exact same as you. Built a fishing hole 2 x 1 and went just as far into the war as you did. Built my base placed my tc and everything. But I can’t throw my fishing rod while inside the base, when I’m outside I can throw it just fine. What am I doing wrong?

broooooo salmon sell so good and theyre everywhere! :o river fishing can be an easier alternative to this base too, thats what I've been doing lately, except in the river you get yellow perch and use them for bait since they sell poorly like the trout, and they're guaranteed to get you either another one of themselves, or a bigger fish, which includes catfish, salmon, and sharks which are the true king :D and probably roughies too i guess? moon pool fishing is such a weird thing to add haha they shouldve made them more worth bringing fishing stuff to the labs

I know this is kind of off subject. But I’m new and I thought scrap was useless. I killed a guy with a MP5 and a M92 Pistol and dropped 3k scrap for room for the guns and bullets. I later realized I could have bought 6 LR-300’s with that amount of scrap. God I felt like such an idiot. That dude probably went back to check his body and got a major come up lol

Would this work in a 1x1 fishing hole? Theoretically it could be more efficient since the fish wouldn't have extra space to pull.

Dont know how people do 1600 scrap per h. Tried to do it Rustoria main, from 20 raw fish meat getting 2-3 salmon and 2 sharks max. sometimes fish just goes crazy and starts to pull like a Kraken with no tomorrow. Impossible even to reel. I don't know how people do this shit. UPD. Ok, after some time managed to squiz 480 scrap after an hour of fishing. 6 sharks and 5 salmon. Trout use as a bait, but it most of the time just catch another trout, salmon or most cases just kraken snaps the bait. Server on the wipe day is quite laggy, so it ruit fishing as well

This makes fishing so much faster, now that they can't get to to far when they try to run.

I may have enough scrap to make a tier 3 hours after wipe as a solo on an official server with many gun bps also learned. BUT there’s one other flaw with this strategy other than time. It’s that you have NO COMPS NONE NADA ZERO.

Rust fishing is quite realistic. The fishes in real life do go side to side except when reeling in you have to lower your rod while reeling then raise the rod and repeat. Also, it may seem fishing is easy in real life but it isn't. It can take you up to an hour for a decent size fish and you may end up snapping the line or it going into the reed and the line getting caught. It is much more fun in real life when the fish catches on, a decent carp ( 8 pounds ) can take around a few minutes to be reeled fully in depending on how far you casted.

I disagree with you at0:25 cause with dinghy's it ads certain amount of it to the total type fish. like in regular sea you catch way more trout and trash fish. but in moon pool it has dinghy's and so that requires removing some percentage of lower tier fish wouldn't it? besides dinghy's aren't all that bad since 2 gives 75 scrap. also Quite often the fishing villa is on shallow sea and even good portion of sea is shallow thus chance of getting sharks lesser. I'm not sure what's going on when I see lot of gamers on video's showing sharks way often, but up to now with raw meat getting shark is on the low percentage, but I do see getting catfish, salmon and trout way faster in rivers. However yours's and other people base layout does seem to make the fishing process quicker which possible end up getting more sharks=profit. I need to try making your base with triangle at the tip and check timer and do same in river and see total profit per hr.

In the console I don't think it matters but I can be wrong about the water level
