You rock dude I just picked up my seal today and I wanted to do all this stuff especially adjust the AC while driving Honestly this video is awesome I can't thank you enough. I wish that you could customizer the 3 roller switches and make 1 of them the AC temperature. I'll rewatch this video several times until I've memorised all of it ❤️🙏🏼
Thanks for this awesome feedback, you've made all my effort making these BYD Seal videos worthwhile. Had a hard time making the next video about BYD Seal Mobile App. Will be launching soon. Stay tunned.
Thanks @SkyePerspective for posting these really informative videos on your new BYD Seal. I've got an order in for Seal Premium - looking forward to trying out all these tips when it arrives!
I love your video. Thank you. I'm in Thailand it's so hot I found the AC in the seal very poor, difficult to get it cool enough and impossible to adjust the air vents direct onto the driver. I'm going to have to add a USB fan and stick it on the dash near the vent forcing air onto me. It's a bit annoying having to do this on my new car
Did you know on the air con screen on the infotainment screen, you can touch on the air vents on the screen and pull it to whichever direction you want the air con to blow? It will set the air con blowing mode to Focus and blow at you. The other thing you can do is to attach the sun shade to block sun from glass roof. Also there is an option in vehicle settings to set the air con to prioritise the air con to cool more of the cabin than the battery. Hope these helps
U can just swipe ur finger from bottom of mainscreen upwards and u also get the menu at the bottom with homescreen aircon etc icons..dont need camera bitton.
At the time when I made this video, my BYD Seal is running an older version of the Infotainment software and cannot swipe up from the bottom. Ever since I upgraded ( see this video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pwta4gemmDs.html ) I can now swipe up from the bottom or the top to get the BYD system while on Android Auto. Thanks for letting me know anyway.
Yes, i think BYD went with the design philosophy of practicality and makes it feel familiar to average drivers. I have no worries lending a relative drive my car because it drives like a petrol car. No learning curve or surprises, but of course got to turn off ADAS first. 😄
Thanks for your informative video. Can you let us know if there's any way of permanently disabling the ADAS without having to turn if off every time you start the car? Thanks. And is there any way of turning off AVAS?
Unfortunately, no way to permanently disable as ADAS is a safety feature mandated by law . However, there is a shortcut to quickly jump to the settings to turn off those ADAS. Pull down notification shade and press the coffee DAW icon. That brings you straight to the ADAS menu. Hope this helps.
Greeting >> Auto Wiper. On a foggy day, when you turn on the car, it will give you one quick wipe to clean the windshield and welcome you for the drive?
Nice video. Did you use to drive for a long trip so you need to charge😊. I was told that navigation system is not putting loading stops in the route it creates. That’s a minus I think if that is correct?
Haven't driven long trip yet, but I did use navigation all the time. However I use Android auto Google map. Haven't used charging station charger yet too, I've been charging at home.
My question is are the driver and car settings driver dependant? As in will the settings be saved depending on who uses their key, so if my wife and I have different preferences while driving, will the car remember those settings per person like a Tesla? 5:56
I am having the base model Dynamic, and definitely not for my model. I know the higher end model like performance remembers the seat positions for different drivers, but I don't think it will remember other settings in 5:56 and hopefully those with performance and premium models can confirm.
A very useful video. It was worth the watch for the ventilation control on the steering wheel alone. Keep them coming and thank you for spending the time discovering all these features.
Thanks a lot for making these videos! Good stuff. I´m from Brazil and got mine couple weeks ago. In my model, on the 'Greeting' menu, we can configure if the motorist seat moves back/forward when opening/closing the door, facilitating get into the car. It´s for driver´s seat only.
In regards to the Greeting. While I haven't tested it yet, that's your Automatic wipers. You have to turn that on and also in conjunction with your left stalk, choose one of four settings. All of this is in the manual page 68. I guess you could test it out by spraying water on your windshield with the correct settings on?
From what I know about auto wipers, they need a dry starting point to tell when there is rain on the windscreen. Havent tested it yet but it should trigger the wipers on start if it thinks there is existing rain
Thank you for a clear and useful discovery tour. As a very new owner there is a lot to learn and you provide such good clues where to start. It is a very nice car to drive and your advice makes it even more enjoyable.
@@SkyPerspective Yes I guess so. Which reminds me.. we probably have Tesla to thank for features being a "subscription" now.... You never really own all of your car any more 😄
@narutokunn subscription? I am not familiar with Tesla. Do you mean we must have an account with Tesla before we can login to our Tesla car to drive it? If this is true, then it's pretty risky. Cyber crime is prevalent these days. If our account got hacked, we lose our Tesla too. For BYD case, I don't have to register any account with BYD if I don't want to, just use the car key to drive the car. Account registration is only needed if we want to use the BYD app as an extra way to control our byd car.
More than tips and tricks about particular features, I would like to understand more about the "mindset" of an EV owner. Do they have to make adjustments to live with an EV, do they have to think or plan differently before they go out, are there things they cannot do at particular times because the EV is not charged sufficiently? With a combustion-engine car, the argument is that you go out when you want to go out because you rarely have to think about where to get petrol if you run low. With an EV supposedly you lose that flexibility and freedom. Is that real or theoretical but not real? Did you have to make adjustments?
Hey @woofinu, so nice to hear from you again. Yes I do know many of us would like to know how does it feel switching over from petrol ICE to electric cars. To be honest, I myself is still learning and stumbling. I am still understanding my (range anxiety) feeling, and wondering if I am worrying too much. "Oh it's down to 30%, can I still go to that place which is 40km away?" I am also researching the different types of charging options and stations available in my area. I just tried out a DC fast charger and realised that is such a luxury. DC Fast charger = 60 minutes from 35%-100%. BYD slow charger using my house power plug = 3 nights from 30% - 100%. Ya the "feeling" and "mindset" driving an EV is really different. With driving feeling, petrol engine "driving" the car and electric motor "pushing" the car is a world of difference too. I am still wondering how do I express those different feelings over video. 😄
@@SkyPerspective I think it would help to discuss any actual impact because non-owners can speculate but don't know if problems are real or imagined. There are 2 scenarios I'd like to consider: First is day-to-day: Can you start with a battery at 100% on Monday morning, and go through one entire week of normal activities (work, taking kids to school, shopping, going to nearby entertainment or restaurants), and charge only at home at night, and have the battery back at 100% next Monday morning? Basically can you go steady state with only home charging at night, or do you need charging at work or at a fast-charging station to supplement? The second scenario is when you make a long trip. I can accept that during the trip you might have to charge outside, but do you have to plan ahead BEFORE the trip? Let's say you begin your trip on Saturday. Do you have to not drive on Friday and let your car charge one full day so you have enough battery for your Saturday trip? I would consider that a major adjustment, not being able to drive on Friday. It's not a showstopper but something I have to keep in mind.
@@woofinu Your scenario 1: I pump my Honda Civic full tank and I can do all those activities you mentioned, to work, do school runs, buy groceries, etc for about 1.5 weeks with that full tank. A full tank of my Honda Civic gives me 540km. With my electric car, I get about 520km on 100% charge. The issue is I won't let my electric car run down to 15% and use all of it's 520km because charging it back up to 100% takes time, unlike 5 mins at a petrol kiosk. So this is what I plan, but have not tested. Instead of 1.5 weeks for my Civic, I plan to use my BYD Seal from 100% down to 40% for one week and charge 2 - 3 nights back to 100%. And if it's too slow, I will drive to a 50kW DC Fast charging station which will "fill up" 30% to 100% in an hour. As for scenario two, yes the charging network for your country/town needs to be good. In Australia, they are still building the infrastructure of EV charging because in the desert, they can't get electricity grid powerful enough to supply the electricity and solar takes forever. I would not drive long distance (1000km or more) away from my home in my electric car just yet. Now, you are hearing this from a hermit, as far as I know others have drove between cities like Sydney and Melbourne without any issues.
@@SkyPerspective For me it doesn't matter if I have to add petrol to an ICE vehicle every 5 or 8 days. I add when it's low, and since stations are usually easy to find, I don't need to plan ahead. Same for charging an EV at home at night. Whether I have to do that 3 nights a week or every night doesn't matter because it doesn't change my plans or activities. But if I have to not drive an EV for a day, or if I have to go to a charging station and wait 2 hours while the EV charges, that would be a real "interference" that I would have to think about. That would be a good topic for one of your future videos.
thanks for the video! do you find music played on Android Auto automatically pauses when you're toggling through the native system settings such as ventilation? it's been driving me mad that there's no shortcut to resume playing music, or why it's pausing at all
@@SkyPerspective you need to swipe from top. Don't you get the shortcut menu when doing that? I got that, climate settings in the bottom and vehicle settings icon in lower right corner.
Oh... that "mode" button! That mode button on the right side is not good enough for me to get out of Android because pressing that button will switch the audio source, e.g. switching away my spotify to radio, or if there is nothing playing, it will starting playing the audio. Unwanted side effects. Thanks for sharing anyway for your suggestion.
@stevenleonards4843 I think this is Japan vs Korea car scenario again. Korean car always offer more features and gimmick but japan car offer more solid tech. Or you can say apple phone vs android. Tesla more refine in their tech n byd not so... a lot of people just buy car base on what they see and feel but not the tech behind the car. What make is safer or more reliable. I been driving model 3 for a month. Really smooth car and interior so quiet n easy for me to clean or vacuum. My previous car mazda3 , so many things that store dust which hard to vacuum.
