The five hundred quid settlement was for two reasons; one, to be a comically low settlement for such a case, and two, it couldn't be a realistically high amount as that would mean Jen has no reason to stay in the job.... she gets paid peanuts so the show can continue with her in it.

At the moment when Douglas strides confidently into IT and declares “computer man, fix my pants”, I had a horrible flashback to my old boss. It was a laptop, not electric sex pants. But apart from that, the situation was almost identical.

The AI Spencer uses in editing really picks weird edit points sometimes. The visual jokes and others get spoiled sometimes by this.

Awesome reaction. There's another comedy that Graham Lineham wrote called black books. Bill Bailey and Dylan Moran star. It's just as awesome as the it crowd and farther Ted.

You STILL haven't quite 'got' the British humour and you STILL take things a little TOO seriously... The £500 + WAS a stupid sum for EACH of them to accept as a 'pay-off', and everyone watching knows it! It's just part of the 'joke', the 'ridiculousness' and the 'naivety' of the comedy and characters... 😅 😂 🤣 (TBH: You two do say some funny things - that make me LOL!). 😎

4:18 I'm not British but German, but I can still tell you with certainty that the amounts of money in IT Crowd are a running gag. In only one case were these absurdly high, and that was in the minutes before Denholm Reynholm threw himself out of the window. Otherwise they are ridiculously low. Roy risks his life for a £20 note. Douglas pays Roy £50 to set up a website. When Moss gave Jen a husband, she promised him £10, and initially only gave him £5. Perhaps these would have been appropriate amounts in the 1950s, perhaps more so in the 1930s. By the way, in central London a bar of chocolate costs more than £5.

You say there was meant to be a continuation after the earlier Aunt Irma episode. The point was that you had just seen moss with gen and then Roy with the psychiatrist. It then said "to be continued". The continuation was that you had to wait to after closing credits so that you saw Richmond and the boss in bed, and not something in the next series.

@@spootot Yep. He's the singer at the table at Messy Joes, the old wizard who sells Douglas the 'magic potion' and the guy who shouts 'We're all gonna die!' after Jen gives the Internet speech. Probably more, but I don't recall.

The settlement being £500 was the joke tho I think lads. I mean, he's worth hundreds of millions, and she can prove he tried to use rohypnol on her. Plus sh e's agreeing to settle out of court, because she could've definitely got him put in prison. 😂 In real life she'd be getting millions. Probably like a hundred mill or something. So I think that was what they were shooting for woth that joke tbh.

Yeah we're lunatics because we think the creator spending all his time harassing trans people online to the point that he's lost his career and his family needs to shut the fuck up about stuff that doesn't bother him. Apparently it's a totally normal thing for him to go on woman and queer only dating sites pretending to be a lesbian to "out" trans/non-binary people.
