Watch Byomkesh Bakshi's nineteenth episode 'Pahari Rehasya'. Byomkesh Bakshi is a fictional detective in Bengali literature created by Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay. He is one of the most successful and popular characters in Bengali literature.
Doordarshan now brings to you the entire series of this literary classic which was televised back in 1993 directed by the brilliant Basu Chatterjee. Actor Rajit Kapur played the role of Byomkesh Bakshi, for which he was highly praised. Ajit was played by K.K. Raina and Satyaboti was played by Sukanya Kulkarni who was the first actress to play the character.

I bet, though nobody have noticed it, that why Byomkesh bakshi serial gives so much of joy and peace is because it is directed in such a way which gives audience an impression that the population of the city country and world is so low very low, that is why there is a feeling of peace in this serial. Suspense is not great but peace, acting, sudden background music which is intense and then the locations, all this makes a great joy. I watch it every year

Yes, the population factor ❤. Also, in the 90's, the population was 2/3 rd of what we have now but Basu Chatterjee ji makes it look like not more than 200 million/20 crores. Thank you for a new and very good perspective on the serial. Regards.

Till 4:04 Sohrabh speaks in a Parsi accent, which changes at 4:05 when he starts saying the "dil dehla dene wali kahani", and changes again at 4:44, cute....😊😊😊

It must be due to recording issue. Which was often happening in those days. Then in studio they re recorded it. But maybe the actor wasn't available.

जाने कहाँ गये वो दिन...! ये हमारे बचपन की छिन चुकी यादों का खोया हुआ एक टुकड़ा है जिसे पाकर मन ना जाने कहाँ खो सा जाता है और दिल में मीठी मीठी गुदगुदी होने लगती है। ऐसी सादगी और व्यवहारिकता आजकल कहाँ है? दूरदर्शन को लाख लाख धन्यवाद हम 90 के दशक के बच्चों की मीठी यादों को ताजा करने के लिए। ना पहले मोबाइल था और ना ही इंटरनेट था तो केवल एक सादी टीवी और दूरदर्शन जिसपर हमारा मनोरंजन हुआ करता था। लेकिन यह मनोरंजन भी क्या सुंदर सुघड़ और सुदृन्ह हुआ करता था। आजकल कितनी भी तकनीकी उन्नति क्यों ना हो गई हो कार्यक्रमों कलाकारों कहानियों और सहायकों में वो बात और वो कशिश कहाँ?

Deshpande, real name Raviraj krishna rao, born in manglore, one of well known marathi actor of 70s and 80s. Died in March 2020.

this serial had had its own share of bloopers and plotholes and questionable production values but the lapses are so childlike ( rather a distinct feature of Basu Chaterji's direction) and dialogues so streetsmart and the humour so subtle and engaging that the most cynical of the viewers would tend to overlook them and above them all the sheer luminosity and earnestness of Rajit Kapoor...he easily qualifies as one of the very best actor India has ever produced is what makes this serial an absolute winner and a timeless gem. The Bengali cinema had tried multiple times to bring Byomkesh saga on the silver screen but nobody matches the calibre and force of personality which Rajit Kapoor possesses and in my opinion it happens to be the best Byomkesh version ever brought

Kudos to Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay for writing such novels. I read all of his novels when I was younger but that time I was not that interested but when I read these novels now I understand these novels more accurately. Very interesting plot.

Just love how they present such an interesting story with such simplicity and such fine acting. Old world was sure as hell more charming and intelligent than what we live in now. Even the scene @37:15 conveys the message so much better than how it would have been enacted in this era. Simple and Nostalgic. Long Live Rajit Kapur :)

Yes , it was , it was highly based on individual aptitude of humans . No phones , no traces , no centralized records less population and closeness to literature.. today we have phonebooks and communiaction is so easy that we are always anxious .... If your son dosent call you for a day you'll be worried with all the wrong thoughts , but back then , a monthly letter was enough and people had patience to wait. And anxiety and insecurity was not as much

Actually in the original story it was the spirit of manek mehta who made the alarm ring. It was the spirit who wanted to get avenged. Initially byomkesh thought it's the ghost of vijay biswas. I think if they had kept the original storyline it would have added to the mystery

Yes I also जाने कहाँ गये वो दिन...! ये हमारे बचपन की छिन चुकी यादों का खोया हुआ एक टुकड़ा है जिसे पाकर मन ना जाने कहाँ खो सा जाता है और दिल में मीठी मीठी गुदगुदी होने लगती है। ऐसी सादगी और व्यवहारिकता आजकल कहाँ है? दूरदर्शन को लाख लाख धन्यवाद हम 90 के दशक के बच्चों की मीठी यादों को ताजा करने के लिए। ना पहले मोबाइल था और ना ही इंटरनेट था तो केवल एक सादी टीवी और दूरदर्शन जिसपर हमारा मनोरंजन हुआ करता था। लेकिन यह मनोरंजन भी क्या सुंदर सुघड़ और सुदृन्ह हुआ करता था। आजकल कितनी भी तकनीकी उन्नति क्यों ना हो गई हो कार्यक्रमों कलाकारों कहानियों और सहायकों में वो बात और वो कशिश कहाँ?
