Bystanders did nothing as woman was raped on Philadelphia train, police say 

My mind can’t comprehend that NO ONE in the train helped this woman. This world gets more disappointing by the day.

That's crazy... ALL of Philadelphia should be embarrassed, appalled and disgusted by this blemish on the reputation of the so called "City of brotherly love."

As I recall, a white marine in New York DID intervene against an aggressive black man who was threatening people on the subway. With the assistance of two other citizens (black men), the aggressor was subdued and died in the process. The white marine has been charged with murder. Tell me again why people should not be afraid to intervene when Good Samaritans are arrested and charged with murder

Individual threatening passengers daily and throughout the trip that US veteran marine took matters into his own hands to protect others. And now he's in jail. That's why nobody wants to help. CCTV footage reportedly shows the woman attempting to push him away several times. “Throughout this time, the victim is obviously struggling with keeping him off of her,” police wrote in the affidavit. Why are you making up your own delusion when this is the conclusion the police came to after watching the bystander's video and CCTV footage? I would have had to intervene even if that meant being physically hurt by the pervert. I am in my 50's and as a child of 5-7 was molested by an older neighbor. There is no damn way I could just sit there and watch or turn the other cheek. If Only 2 or maybe 3 people did something, this lady would have been spared a life of suffering and trauma. As a girl myself, when I try to imagine myself being there, I'll honestly say that I'd be really scared to directly touch/push him with my bare hands BUT I wouldn't be able to stand there and let him continue harming the woman. I'd AT LEAST find an object or something to push him off with and use to defend us! Maybe these witnesses were scared like I'm imagining I would be, but it's really NO EXCUSE to be present during the act and not step in. Especially when there were multiple witnesses. And some were even at arms length away from him??

I would rather face the consequences of trying to help than live with the knowledge I did nothing. Sounds like the 'bystander effect'. The more people who witness, the less personal responsibility we each feel.

I think many people would say they would help but probably would not even help. I truly believe this. We live in a day of age where people can carry guns or can seriously hurt you. It would be a huge risk to stand up for another in a case like this. I know many people may think it would be good for someone to stop what was going on. Yet, some people may believe this is better left for police officers. I wish someone would have helped as well. I truly feel sorry for the woman involved.
