Bytedance Refuses to Sell TikTok's American Business Amid Fears of a Ban | Vantage with Palki Sharma
TikTok's parent company Bytedance has said that it has no plans of selling-off the app's business in America. Lawmakers in Washington had asked the Chinese company to let go of its business in the US or face a ban in the country. This, after lawmakers raised security concerns over the social media app. TikTok had, in 2020, faced a similar ban in India when New Delhi has cited the same concerns behind the decision of placing a total ban on the app. Bytedance has been accused of helping China get access to crucial user data from several countries via TikTok. Bytedance has, however, refuted the allegations of sharing US user data with China.
