inflation calculator puts 2006 $40 AUD at being equivalent to $63.42 in 2023 dollars. Pharaoh is actually cheaper than this.

Hey Legend, short term subscriber here maybe of a few years not sure. Interesting to watch someone so good at the game both in battles and campaign map. Keep up the live streams its good fun and doesn't matter what faction you play as (as long as you're having fun) I grew up with these games and its cool to see them played the right way I guess as I would just have fun. I probably played 1000 hours in Rome 1 and ended up with campaign burn out at the end. Happy to support you in whatever you choose to play and imo Med 2 and Rome 1 never get old especially watching you play them. Have probably watched over 100 hours of your content or a lot more idk. I love this campaign! Ive began another one and not only have messed the crusader states up but somehow became allied with both egypt and the turks, and taken all of Anitolia. Glad to see you playing Medieval II and having fun while doing it

Personally I'd love to see the new pathfinding and battle controls married to the old world map systems with population growth and public order, and throw in the morale and terrain interactions from Shogun 2 to make a modern version of those games,,, but that sadly doesn't seem to be the way they're heading these days

The loss of true population growth and public order and farming influencing growth rates in non-abstract numbers and all of that... such a huge loss. As glitchy as Empire:Total War was, it was the last TW game to really have all of these old systems, and I love them for it. I wish they would remake Empire with all of these systems intact and the worldwide focus. So damned good.

We talk about it occasionally, but regardless of whether CA creates a functional engine that makes combat more impactful (like in Rome 1 and Medieval 2), there’s one thing they could probably never come close to replicating: the music. I played a lot of Attila, and there were few if any parts of the soundtrack that stood out to me (maybe Assault by Sea?). It made battles kind of stale, and hence why I fell into using auto-resolve more frequently. On the other hand, I can’t think of a single track I didn’t like in Medieval 2. The reason I love Medieval 2 is, regardless of the battle you fight, the dynamic soundtrack greatly enhances what is already really fun combat. The visuals and audio just blend so well to make a memorable experience.

Hoenstly my favourite feature in any total war title was in this dlc, in the britannia campain upgrading a units armour actually changed the model. It was so cool to see your shiny new units and no title has done it since 😢

Have you thought about doing a campaign with the retrofit mod and GUAM? This will unlock all the bugfixes, new features and new units to the grand campaign. I love having boiling oil at the gates, Teutonic knights, Mangonels and byzantine flamethrower units.

1:00:58 So about siege cheese in 3K. I've been playing the game recently, and I would argue that some level of siege cheese is really the only viable way of sieging a lot of the time. WIth how janky the path finding is in cities (even when it's all checkerboard style streets, which should be much easier to navigate) and how much of a threat the towers are, you can go 2:1 or maybe even 3:1 and still get wrecked. Cheesing it somewhat is the only way to maintain momentum on the campaign map after a siege battle. And IMO it's balanced, too. The AI do rush back to the town square when it's taken. It's simply not going to work with just generals when the enemy has a large garrison, or even just a medium sized one.

It's funny you said 3:1 , because that's the irl convention for attacking a defended position, with the attacker and defender being considered on par with each other. The attacker can expect to take 3 times the losses, so needs 3 times the forces for it to be an even fight. So, totally by accident, that 3:1 is pretty realistic.

If there was one thing I could count on in Medieval 2 it was the game crashing after I won big/important battles. My biggest crash was after a 1v4 as ERE against a jihad consisting of one turkish, and three egyptian armies at Constantinople. I spent nearly two hours on that battle pausing, and micromanaging every single unit, won a heroic victory, and the game crashed exiting to the campaign. I have rarely been so mad at video games as that day.

A proper remaster of Med2 could be fun. And an easy way for CA to please fans without having to innovate like they would for Med3. For now, Legend might manage to get player numbers for Med2 to the top. Looks pretty fun and I'm kinda bored with Warhammer.

- Mostly bug fixing indeed - Improving / fleshing out features. For exemple square formation will break cavalry charges in Napoleon while just being infantry in square in Empire. Cannonballs in Napoleon can shatter infantry formations, while in Empire they just triggered the regular death animation like models were killed by muskets. - Multiplayer campaign, which is a must have for a franchise with an AI this terrible. - Way better graphismes and battle effects, more animations to bring life to the battlefield : horses can rear, horsemen can fall from their mount, soldiers have animation for being pushed by infantry charges or thrown on the ground by cannonballs, etc. Napoleon is a magnificent game, way better than Empire.

Maps and unit size, and number of units need to be way bigger. Go back to Rome 1 graphics for all I care. Bare minimum, map size needs to increase. Compare WH3 maps with these medival 2 maps or even Rome 1. A entire unit type, Cavlary, has a huge advantage negated because of the size of most maps. Terrain blocking movement is necessary for tactics, but not map size. Hope you get into Medival 2 mods dude.

RTR on rome remade? They say even if you play as Macedon, who is considerably big country, its challenge to take on Epirus. In vanilla Rome it is just one province but in RTR its 7 provinces, still a challenge compared to cake walk in vanilla.
