This is the first movement of Francks famous Violin Sonata transcribed for double bass and piano - a really unusual setting.

The album includes French music for double bass and piano from Alfred Desenclos, Gabriel Fauré, César Franck and Maurice Ravel. „Aria et Rondo" by Desenclos is originally written for double bass and piano. The other works are transcriptions of famous French chamber music pieces: Faurés „Elégie" and „Après un rêve", Ravels „Pièce en forme d’Habanera" and “Pavane pour une infante defunte" as well as Francks wonderful Violin Sonata - an extraordinary project to perform on double bass.
