For anyone wondering why he said "shoutout to West side": It's actually not literal west side of Vietnam, but rather West side of Southern region (Miền Tây Nam Bộ), which is where he comes from. It's a region also known by the name Mekong River Delta (Đồng Bằng sông Cửu Long), which starts somewhere nearby Ho Chi Minh city downward to Ca Mau. But literal translation is indeed West Side, so he says that also as wordplay in reference to USA hiphop culture with their West and East side.

This imagery is very common in Vietnamese poetry and music. In Vietnamese culture, men bring money , gold, and gifts to the female’s family to ask them to marry her. He doesn’t have much and feels like she is worth a lot but he does have other things, like his music. Shes poor too because we know she drives boats on the river.
