I first heard & saw Benjamin Bernheim in the MetOpera in HD "Romeo & Juliette." He nailed it & ever since then I am a big fan. The voice, the acting, the beautiful nuances in the French language--all superb. Can't get enough of his art. I hope to see more & more of this artist!
Why not if it sounds so good? Heard Tosca in French at Comique in the 50s (was surprised but still thrilled to be there). This shows how wonderful 🎶🎵sounds in language of your birth. 👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️
As it turns out, Puccini himself wrote a French translation for some of his operas. And of course Verdi wrote Don Carlos and Les vêpres siciliennes in French, later translated into Italian.
