What do you mean straightforward? Most everyone that have deployed to combat zones have flown in c-130s c-17s and c5's. It's not that big a deal. I'm really not sure what your issue is?
No, it was designed to do this exact thing, as is the C130. In time of conflict there may not be a Runway where the Cargo is needed right now, but a clear strip of land long enough to land and take off..
@@user-dh6bj2me5pthat is why we maintain our stuff. Maintenance budgets on this kind of craft are huge, this isnt a big mess. Also, that bird is sailing around 160mph over the ground, there is no dirt getting in the turbines themselves. The sand is definitely damaging the paint though, 100% agreed. The turbines kick up dirt behind them, not infront of them lol

That thing is a beast...I flew on a C5 when I was in the military that was heavily laden with tons of equipment. We went over air pockets like they were pebbles. Best flight I ever had to date.
