I see a lot of the guys are C-130 jumpers because they have their hands on their reserves as they exit the plane. I was taught to have both hands on the door and push myself out to clear the aircraft and into the prop blast on a Hollywood jump. I did the same when jumping with equipment day or night. I never walk out and fall into the blast. This was back in 1986. Somehow Airborne School were teaching the Cherries back then to just walk out and fall either for Hollywood or equipment jumps. Walking and falling out will cause you to hit the side of the plane and that will fucking hurt or loose your helmet. This is what they call a weak exit. You fuck this up and you can break a shoulder. Get the fuck out like you mean it.
I realy love to jump out C-130 standing door was best view but with C-47 I was afraid to hit the tail that why I just walk out then My head just tough the side . Lucky I was OK (worry from jump master)also 1985 ‘
I say the same I’m a Old paratrooper from El Salvador 1966 grad we had C 47s and I agree with you both hands on the door a LT in a night jump got stuck with static line plane had to land with him dragging on tarmac a True story l live in NYC over 50 years now

I had a chance to do this once early 1990's at a Las Vegas solider of fortune convention they would static drop you from a C-47 and guide you down with a radio. I thought little too much risk for someone who never had any training. It was $250 to do it if I remember correctly the guys running it were vets of Vietnam war. Met lot of interesting people there.
