The 250 ton railroad wrecker in this video is Industrial Brownhoist No. 12369 built in 1957. It is the former Missouri Kansas Texas #X-255, Chesapeake & Ohio #WC-32 to #940006, Cooperstown & Marne Ry #940006. Great Video!
He said “programming” the controls! Ha! I ran a 250 ton Brownhoist exactly like this for Southern Railway/Norfolk Southern in the 80’s. These things were a workout to operate - no joysticks in those days - and you always hoped that the chain you leaned against while operating it didn’t break! Looong way down! There was always a lot of pressure on the “Derrick engineer” due to the difficulty of operating these things added with the yelling and screaming of the Railroad bosses to hurry up and clear the wrecked equipment! “We gotta run trains!”, only they used much more colorful language! These things were beasts, everything built ultra heavy, but contractors with sideboom pipelayer bulldozers rendered them useless by the early 90’s!
at the North Metro Model Railroad Club, we have one like this in HO scale that is fully operational and it will life a Proto2000 off the track and re align it.
It's my understanding that the green color of the idler flat car came from a 50/50 mixture of the C&O colors Federal Yellow and Enchantment Blue. The C&O painted a lot of M.o.W. equipment this green color with the yellow used on grab irons and such.

as stiff as that crane is, it isn't nearly as bad as the one I used to work with. I used to work for Delaware Lackawanna in Scranton, PA and boy did that thing fight us. It's an old AMERICAN crane they got off of CP. It's biggest problem was that the clutch on the swing never wanted to fully engage. I miss it though. Lots of fun memories there...
