I teared up a few times watching this gem of a film. Quiet, moving, thought-provoking. The little boy was phenomenal. And joaquin phoenix plays the ordinary man so well

Just came back home from C’mon C’mon. What a beautiful beautiful film. I’m in a bit of a sad/hard place in my life right now and this film felt like a warm hug and a pat on the back telling me “you can do this :)”. To quote Jesse (the kid): “You can never plan, nothing that you plan for ever happens - the most unbelievable things happen. You just have to tell yourself ‘C’mon, c’mon, c’mon, c’mon…’”.

I mean, that quote may make some film nice and warm and fuzzy, but it's pretty much nonsense. You can plan realistically and doing so will generally improve peoples' lives.

He's a child speaking about how he sees his world and relationships around him - he could never have predicted that something so traumatic would lead to a life-changing friendship.

Everyone in this was great. The actress who plays his recording partner really stood out to me. Also, massive props to Woody Norman being a kid and going toe to toe with Joaquin Phoenix.

He deserves the Oscar just as much as Joaquin imo

This film has that very rare quality that only a couple films have once every few years; that it makes you feel you had the most amazing dream for 2 hours and didn't realise you were in cinema. Transcendent, magnificent

A superb film. Saw it with my girlfriend who suggested seeing it, solely on the name of Joachim Phoenix who never picks a bad film. It would appear that many of the scenes are improvised, which makes the film all more compelling. The young actor who plays Jesse is the one to look out for in future performances. Well worth seeing.

I think this movie will "hit you" if you are a parent, or a surrogate parent, or a parent-figure or a mentor. I'm a dad, myself, by the way. Might not be easily relatable if you're single or if you're not yet thinking about having a kid. For the teens and pre-teens, I think those who would find this relatable are those kids who are deep thinkers, and sensitive but not expressive, and longing for more attention from their mom or dad.

Can't believe you made the Uncle Buck comparison without acknowledging that Gaby Hoffman, the mother in this film, was the other kid in that film!

Best film of the year in my opinion. Will most likely be beat out by Licorice Pizza since I love PTA’s films more than anything but DAMN this was powerful. Just came back from watching it and it was one of the moving experiences I’ve had in the cinema. Brilliant!!!

Nicely analyzed review as always….watched it today…..what an endearing film that touches the crevices of the heart and mind…if I feel Joaquin is the ultimate performer then the kid outshines him with so much maturity, depth and character in the performance ….

Concerning "black-and-white" and "soundtrack" in Mike Mills' films, "I Am Easy to Find" is worth mentioning.

I haaaaaated this film, everything about it felt like it was just one giant oscar clip, with faint noodly gentle atmospheric music playing in the background as if it was whispering in your ear "give us oscars!" ooooh its shot in black and white, whilst we hear the sound of children talking about the future, the most pretentious film ive seen in years
