That's maybe because many pepole outside South-East Asia and few places in USA just don't have access to arcade rhytm games (without DDR) which are usually source of songs. In this situation Osu! is main source of them. Also if someone will do sth "big" or song will be use in important issue will be automaticaly more releatable. For example map done on Panic Holic was used in last year Osu! World Cup.

I initially came here through osu! but now I've migrated to SDVX and over time I started playing some other BEMANI titles like IIDX and pop'n. Honestly I don't mind the fact that osu! popularised this song cuz if it lead me to much better games
