the sound of the gunshots along with everyone's reactions to it are what killed me the most.. the guilt they all felt because they couldn't save her in time....their friend, a little boy's mum, an innocent woman so full of love....
It would have hit me harder if Haley hadn't been such a bitch to Aaron. She even had something going on behind his back when he was doing his best to change for her. This left him scarred but I never felt that she was good for him in the first place.
@@laurab5750 It hits me hard every time. But, I agree! Hotch loved her and the BAU, but she wanted him to pick between them. I remember her in the earlier seasons before the divorce and she was so irritating.
What got me started crying was "Hi Buddy" What BROKE me was "Promise me that you'll tell him how we met. How you used to make me laugh. He needs to know you weren't always so serious Aaron." After that I was gone
It breaks my heart how they all tried to stay calm for Jack. Haley didn't want to alarm him, neither did Hotch and even Foyet put his hands over his ears when he mentioned Haley dying (even though he was planning on killing him after). This scene just completely breaks my heart.
@@Feltkitty705gaming it's actually quite quite rare for even serials to harm children. Even the most twisted have some semblance of humanity towards children, usually because it's childhood trauma that creates the monster. One of my favourite moments in Season 2 of Wolf Creek is the "psychologist" of the group's reaction when one comes in and tells them "he murdered that little boy", it's a clear "holy hell this guy has NO mercy in him at all, he's a full blown monster".
C. Thomas Howell played The Reaper and was good guys in his earlier roles like in The Hitcher in 1986 and The Outsiders as a young gang member but not a psychotic killer like in Criminal Minds
Just realized that hotch told jack to go “work the case” not as a final goodbye, thinking foyet would kill jack, but because only jack knew the hiding spot in the office, saving him
Jack hid in a piece of furniture in his dad’s home office. After Hotch divorced Haley, he gave his son a code word if something bad happened to him or his mother. Hotch wanted to finish off Foyet for good because he would’ve killed Jack too.
Nathan Pierzchala what was so sad about that was that Hotch pretty much had accepted that he wouldn’t make it in time, trying to hide Jack. He knew he wouldn’t make it in time for Haley and then started giving his speech. So awful
@Zen Master criminal minds is one of the best too me, I seen episodes here and there on TV from reruns. Almost a month ago I decided to watch every episode beginning to end on Netflix I'm already in season 5 halfway there. I cant stop watching this show. I skipped ahead to see what season 9, 10, look like and more character changes and addition which I'm not to happy about.
It's someone she knows very well, someone Hotch loves. They were friends and Garcia cried because despite all her skills behind the screen she couldn't do anything to help her loved ones.
All of the Reaper’s victims begged, screamed, run or tried to call for help. But Haley didn’t do any of the following. She simply stood there, talked to Hotch and accepted her incoming death. Haley was very brave and a great mother to Jack.
I always say that. Even though she was terrified I can still see it in her eyes as she was crying right before the camera cuts back to hotch before the gunshot..she was afraid but she wasn’t gonna back down and give him the reaction he wanted her eyes said she was scared but she was ok with what was going to happen and she was ready
@@blueskybelyr You really think an unarmed, civilian woman is gonna try to "incapacitate" a serial-killer with a gun? Really? Also, what is she gonna do. Run out of the house while her son is still in there?
Hotchs line "you're so strong Haley, you're stronger than I ever was" is such an amazing and underrated line. The reason for their divorce was never because they stopped loving each other, it was because of Hotchs career. and you can clearly see that in this scene. they loved and cared for each other. so even though they weren't together anymore their love for Jack is what's most important to the both of them.
@Paris Xoxox But he didn't know. He was only 4 or 5 years old and nobody told him anything about what was going to happen. Nobody even seemed uncomfortable/sad/agitated.
Everyone is saying Garcia’s reaction got them but when Jack started talking to Hotch that’s what really got me, especially when Hotch’s voice cracked when he said “hi buddy” :(
What used to make me cry the hardest about the scene is when Hailey says “You’ll hurry right?” I thought she was saying you’ll hurry and get here to save us right? And I always cried because I thought she still had hope that Aaron would get there in time. Now I realize she knew her fate was sealed in this moment and she was okay with that but she needed to know that Aaron was close so he could save Jack..what a strong woman. RIP Hailey you deserved so much better 🥺
I don't think I'll ever wrap my head around the fact that George Foyet and Ponyboy Crutis are played by the same actor. I couldn't even comprehend it when I first found out, I just sat there and stared a my screen with this look of bemusement on my face.
This was actually the first episode I watched and got me obsessed with Criminal Minds. I cry my eyes out every time I watch it, Haley's death was so unfair; and Garcia's reaction is heart breaking
Jessica Gonzalez I have seen this episode at least 10 times and I still cry my eyes out every time. Just breaks my heart. So attached to these characters.
He was one of the most memorable same with The Replicator in season 9 with Mark Hamill as former FBI agent turned serial killer The Replicator who murdered Erin Strauss. I am a big Criminal Minds fan as is my wife and seen every episode there are number of actors through out the 15 seasons that made their mark as unsubs. Some of other favorites were Keith Carradine as Frank and James Van Der Beek as the sadistic and delusional killer Tobias Hankel who kidnapped and tortured Spencer Reid in season 3.
@@scottknode898 ...Let's not forget the incredible Aubrey Plaza as Cat Adams....she should have been in the final episode...a surrealistic tug-of-war between her and Mauve Donovan (Beth Reisgraf) for the soul of Spencer Reid as he laid on the floor as his brain injury was taking his life....Mauve (Do what makes you happy and what you love)...Cat...(You know that you want me...that I complete you)...
@@scottknode898 ...And I love C. Thomas Howell.. We both met at the same acting class (Theatre Of Arts and FIW).... had the same agent back in 1980 (Mary Murphy) and we both read for roles in the auditions for "The Outsiders" (He Ponyboy...me for Bob Sheldon)
She didn't fight because she knew she wouldn't make it. As long as she went along with The Reaper, she knew it would keep him away from the baby boy and give Hotch time to get there. She didn't fight simply because it was the only way to save her son.
Garcia's reaction is what got to me the most :'( Criminal Minds is and always has been IMO one of the greatest television shows ever created. The casting is perfect for every character and unsub and what I love about this is that you get to know the team in ways that most shows do not allow you to and you can attach yourself to these characters (unlike Game Of Thrones where attaching yourself to any character is foolish :p ). I can not think of any show of this genre that can and possibly ever will top it.
I truly agree and Walking Dead is the same way and this TV show 9-1-1 on Fox all 3 shows make me tear up I just love the chemistry of the cast on all 3 shows.
I know it's just a show but if I ever was in her position the moment my son ran I would have fought for my life. I'd rather be shot dead trying to attack the killer then taken out the way she went.
Thank you! I literally am reading the comments to see if anyone thought the same. Knee that guy where it counts and run for the knives in the kitchen something.
@@KedarOthort if it makes you feel any better getting beaten to death would be excruciating pain. Somebody else on another video described it..Hotch grabbed foyet by the hair and bashed his skull in his skull would’ve caved in (when he definitely felt) destroying the part of the brain that controls vision so first he went blind but he was still alive to feel the next 15 seconds of agony and to be honest judging by the way Rossi and Prentiss looked when they caught hotch beating him and how the camera stops showing his face Hotch completely obliterated that mans face and head and was probably beating in him for a few minutes to do something like that. Trust me foyet got exactly what he deserved
“He needs to know you weren’t always so serious” kills me every time. I have watched show with multiple character deaths and this is the one that gets me the most
+Brian Wolfe I watched NCIS before going to this. If you like this, NCIS is 100x better. Trust me. The characters are more interesting....better acting, better dialogue.... etc...
I was too, I was tearing up the whole episode, but what made me start bawling and sobbing is that shot going off and Garcia's reaction. Then it all spiraled downhill from there...
This is my favorite episode of any show, not just drama. The writing, direction, and acting is perfection. Thomas Gibson, C. Thomas Howell, and Meredith Monroe killed it.
Hotchner: Go work on the case buddy. Translation Hotchner: Go hide son. So when I get there. I can beat the shit out of him until he's dies Dies DIES!!!!! I hated this episode. But the acting was dead on. RIP Haley 🌹💖🌹💖🌹💖
criminal minds is by far the best one made. the characters are just brilliant and the way they work everything out is just amazing. love this so much. this is really sad tho :(
It’s been so many years...and I still cry like a complete baby for everything in this scene. How Jack does know that something might be wrong, that Aaron whose always strong is slowly unfolding, and how she told him to make sure that Jack knew how they met and how much he made her laugh 😭😭 Oh and the terrified look on his face when he heard George say ‘I’ll be right up Jackie Boy’
I love this, cause all actors (incluiding Cade Owens) did a very good job with this scene, Meredith and Thomas (Gibson) in their dramatic roles and C. Thomas H. in his Killer-mode. They did this so well that is hard to believe it was all an act PD: Sorry for my english 😅
This was the ultimate heartbreaking moment of the entire show... even now I’m crying just as if I was watching this for the first time ... each character went through so much trauma ... such a good show 😭😭
I always come back to “omnivore” and “100”. I loved these episodes growing up. The acting and storyline to me is phenomenal. I’ve never been able to feel so familiar with a cast of a crime-fighting tv show the way I have with Criminal Minds. This episode is tragic yet beautiful.
This episode just aired again yesterday. It's always so hard for me to watch because I know what's coming, but I can't help myself. This particular scene ALWAYS breaks me. Haley's strength in the face of her impending death is incredible and Hotch...I know it's pretend, but I'm a mess afterwards. These characters really pull you in.
If you remember or watched the whole episode, then you know that he lured her in over the phone, by the time she saw him, it was too late, even if she had seen a photo.
If I remember correctly Haley was in witness protection at this time and didn’t have a ton of contact with hotch. The team also never anticipated foyet going after Haley
Me and my nana: *watching THIS episode* My brain when this scene came up: hey lets cry, thats fun Me when Haley dies: *cries* *looks at my grandma* Her: its okay *cries again*
I feel bad for everyone besides George Foyet, but don't you think that she maybe could have fought back once Jack went to "work the case"? I mean, even a little bit after the speech would have been enough to stun Foyet. He thrives on fear after all.
Exactly what I just wrote :) I could never just go silently like that, knowing my child would be without a mother and possibly blame my husband for my death. If she fought she could have had a chance because he wouldn't have such a clear dead shot. It's just a show I understand that but it makes you think about if you were in their shoes :)
+Lucky Lex I read what you wrote, and I agree. Really, all one would have to do is keep an eye on the barrel and where it is. In this case, though, since Jack would be on the second floor, the gun cannot be aimed upward.
yeah but at the same time, she didn't know when Hotch would get there and realistically she would only be able to fight him for so long before he killed her anyways. I think it was just really important to her to tell Hotch what she did and if she started fighting back the second Jack went upstairs she wouldn't have had a chance to say goodbye.
